WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The Project X steel iron shaft is True Temper's low-flight, low-spin option, rated for a fast tempo. This listing is the 0.355" taper-tip version in chrome, sold one shaft per iron (2-iron to wedge) in five flexes from 5.0 to 7.0, weighing 110 to 130 g.
Before you order: each shaft is made for one iron, so order one per club. See How Tapered (0.355") Tip Shaft Lengths Work.
Who It's For
Good fit if you...
- Want a stable, penetrating ball flight: True Temper rates it low launch and low spin
- Swing with a fast, aggressive tempo, the tempo True Temper fits it to
- Like picking flex in half steps: 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, 6.5 or 7.0, with weight rising 5 g per step
- Have irons with a 0.355" taper-tip hosel and want a shaft made for each iron
Not the right fit if you...
- Want a higher, softer flight: the Project X LZ is rated mid launch and mid spin with a moderate tempo
- Prefer a black finish: see the Project X Rifle Blackout page
- Want a lighter shaft: every flex here weighs 110 g or more. Take the Iron Shaft Finder Quiz to find a better match
How It Plays
Low and stable. True Temper describes Project X as the standard-setter for steel iron shafts, known for its feel, consistency and control and a stable, penetrating flight. It rates this shaft low on trajectory, low on spin and low on torque.
Made for a fast tempo. True Temper rates tempo as how you load the shaft, not raw speed. Project X sits at Fast, so it suits players who transition hard and want the shaft to hold its line.
Flex goes up with weight. The 5.0 weighs 110 g and each half step adds 5 g, up to 130 g for the 7.0.

Will It Fit Your Irons?
This shaft is for irons with a 0.355" taper-tip hosel. Order one shaft for each iron you are reshafting and pick the iron number in the dropdown: True Temper makes each taper shaft for its iron, so a 7-iron shaft is not meant to go in your 5-iron.
Not sure which tip your irons take, or how long each shaft should be? Read How Tapered (0.355") Tip Shaft Lengths Work, take the Iron Shaft Finder Quiz, or let us install them with our Retrofit Service.

Frequently Asked Questions
Questions & Answers
Have a Question?
-
Are these the correct shafts for my titleist 718 AP2 irons?
Yes, they will fit - since they're both 0.355" tip size.
-
My arms are short relative to my height. Most of my shafts are 1 in over standard. Would using a #3 iron shaft in a #4 iron , etc, have the same result?
Yes, that would work. You can generally swap in/out shafts if they are 1 or 2 clubs apart. More than that, you might find some swing characteristics altered.
-
I want to order 4 shafts( 7-PW) but I want them in raw length so I can cu them to my size. How do I order them in the raw length (41.5”)?
Hi Gene,
The .355 taper-tip Project X Rifle shafts are discrete-length shafts, meaning each iron number has its own designated raw length. The 41.5" specification is the longest shaft in the series, not the raw length for every iron.
To order an uncut 7-PW set, select and add one of each:
#7 iron
#8 iron
#9 iron
PW
We will ship each shaft in its original, uncut factory length so you can butt-trim it to your desired finished club length. Taper-tip shafts should not be tip-trimmed.
If you specifically need four identical 41.5" blanks, please contact us before ordering because that would not be the standard 7-PW configuration and would change the intended shaft progression.
Best,
Jim -
Will these work on ping i e 2015 irons
Majority of ping irons are .355 tapered tip but always good to contact the manufacturer to double check.
