Golf Shaft Guides
Every major shaft brand explained — what each one does well, who it's built for, and how to find the right fit for your swing.
Grips4Less was founded in 1991 by engineers and physicists. Shaft performance is genuinely technical — flex profiles, kick points, torque, weight distribution — and 30+ years of fitting golfers from our Chatsworth, California shop has taught us what actually matters when picking a shaft.

Golf Shaft FAQs
Which golf shaft brand is best?
There's no single best brand — the right one depends on your swing, feel preference, and budget. Fujikura and Mitsubishi dominate premium driver shafts, Graphite Design is prized for tour-level craftsmanship, Project X covers a wide price range, and KBS and UST Mamiya are go-to names for iron shafts. The brand guides above break down what each one does well so you can match a brand to your game rather than chasing a label.
Where do I start if I don't know anything about shafts?
Start with our two foundational guides. How to Choose the Right Golf Shaft walks you through what your ball flight, tempo, and feel are telling you, and 5 Specs You Need to Know covers the technical basics like flex, weight, and tip size. If you'd rather get a quick recommendation, our 2-minute shaft finder quiz points you in the right direction based on a few questions about your swing.
What's the difference between a raw shaft and an assembled shaft?
A raw shaft is the uncut shaft on its own. An assembled shaft — look for the "Assembled" label — comes ready to play for the same price as the raw shaft, with a free OEM-compatible adapter already installed for your driver, fairway, or hybrid. You just choose your grip. It's the easiest way to get a tour-quality shaft into your club without finding a local builder.
Do you install the adapter and grip for me?
Yes. On our assembled driver, fairway, and hybrid shafts, we install a free OEM-compatible adapter — TaylorMade, Callaway, Cobra, Srixon, Titleist, Ping, Mizuno, and more — at no extra charge. We'll also install your grip for free; you only pay for the grip itself. Everything ships ready to play from our Chatsworth, California shop.
Can I get a shaft for my irons, not just my driver?
Absolutely. We carry iron shafts across steel and graphite from brands like KBS, Project X, and UST Mamiya. Our assembly service covers drivers, fairways, and hybrids, but if you're buying iron shafts on their own, the brand guides above and our specs guide will help you match tip size, weight, and flex to your set.
