How do you hold your putter?

What makes it different

What Makes a SuperStroke Putter Grip Different?

A standard putter grip is thinner at the bottom than at the top. A SuperStroke Zenergy grip isn’t. Four things set it apart.

Golfer holding a SuperStroke putter grip, showing its no-taper shape

01

No taper

The grip is the same size from top to bottom. SuperStroke designed it to even out grip pressure, so your hands stay quieter through the stroke.

02

SPYNE ridge

A raised ridge runs along the underside of the grip. SuperStroke says it helps you return the face square at impact.

03

Multi-zone texture

Texture sits where your hands touch the grip most, on a soft polyurethane outer layer, for feel and feedback.

04

Tech-Port

Most Zenergy grips have a port at the top for a CounterCore weight, so you can add 25, 50 or 75 g under your hands.

Step 1: pick your shape

Tour, Pistol, Flatso or Claw?

All four use the same Zenergy build. The shape is about how you like to hold the putter.

Choose this shape if you want…

A classic round grip
Zenergy Tour: a straight, rounded shape that looks the most like a traditional grip
The same top-hand position every time
Zenergy Pistol GT: a pistol-shaped top that sets your upper hand in place
Less wrist, more shoulders
Zenergy Flatso: a wide, flat front with five edges, so both thumbs sit flat
To putt with a claw grip
Zenergy Claw: a pistol-style top for the upper hand and three flat sides for the lower hand

SuperStroke The classic shape

Zenergy Tour

A straight, rounded profile that sits neutrally in your hands. If you’re trying SuperStroke for the first time and like the look of a traditional grip, start here.

  • Width1.00″ (1.0) to 1.52″ (5.0)

SuperStroke Consistent hand position

Zenergy Pistol GT

A pistol-shaped top gives your upper hand the same place to sit every time, with the no-taper body below it. A good fit if you’ve always putted with a pistol grip.

  • ShapePistol top, no taper
  • Width1.09″ (Tour) to 1.32″ (2.0)
  • Length10.6″
  • CounterCoreYes, Tech-Port
SuperStroke Zenergy Flatso putter grip

SuperStroke Flat front

Zenergy Flatso

A wide, flat front and five edges, so both thumbs sit flat on top. Golfers who want their wrists out of the stroke, and to putt with the arms and shoulders, often like it most. SuperStroke notes Jordan Spieth used a Flatso for each of his three major wins.

  • ShapeFlat front, five-sided, no taper
  • Width1.02″ (1.0) to 1.38″ (3.0)
  • Length10.6″
  • CounterCoreYes, Tech-Port
SuperStroke Zenergy Claw putter grip

SuperStroke Made for the claw

Zenergy Claw

Built for golfers who putt with a claw grip. A pistol-style top locks in the upper hand, and three flat sides give the lower hand a place to sit, whichever claw you use.

  • ShapePistol top, three flat sides
  • Width1.20″ (1.0), 1.21″ (2.0)
  • Length10.5″ (1.0), 10.6″ (2.0)
  • CounterCoreYes, Tech-Port

Step 2: pick your size

What Do SuperStroke Sizes 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 5.0 Mean?

The number tells you how wide the grip is. A higher number is a wider grip within the same shape.

Compare widths, not just numbers

Within one shape, the width goes up with the number: a Tour 1.0 is 1.00″ wide and a Tour 5.0 is 1.52″.

Across shapes, the same number isn’t the same size. A Flatso 2.0 (1.08″) is narrower than a Tour 2.0 (1.17″), and a Pistol GT 2.0 (1.32″) is wider. Check the size chart before you switch shapes.

Weight doesn’t follow size

SuperStroke’s Tour and Pistol 1.0 grips have a rubber core, and the 2.0 grips have a lighter EVA foam core. So a Tour 1.0 (71 g) weighs more than a Tour 2.0 (55 g).

A lighter grip makes the putter head feel heavier in your hands. SuperStroke suggests adding a CounterCore weight to the Tour 2.0 and Pistol 2.0.

How we’d choose

Want it to feel close to a regular grip? Start with a 1.0.

Not sure? A 2.0 or 3.0 sits in the middle of the range.

Want your hands as quiet as possible, or have large hands? Look at the 3.0 or 5.0.

If you can, hold a few sizes in a shop first. SuperStroke recommends the same.

SuperStroke CounterCore putter grip weights, 25, 50 and 75 grams

CounterCore

What Is SuperStroke CounterCore?

A weight that screws into the Tech-Port at the top of the grip. Adding weight under your hands counterbalances the putter head, and SuperStroke says that can make some strokes more consistent.

  • Weights25 g, 50 g or 75 g
  • Included? No. SuperStroke grips ship without a weight.
  • Who it suitsA handsy or wristy stroke, a head that feels too heavy, or golfers who used to anchor
  • Won’t fitTour 1.0, 1.0PT, 2.0PT, 1.0P 17″ and TLT grips (no Tech-Port)

Mid-length, arm-lock and counterbalance

Long and Arm-Lock SuperStroke Grips

Longer grips give you more room to choke down, add counterbalance, or brace the grip against your lead forearm for arm-lock putting.

Arm-lock putting, with the grip braced against your forearm, is allowed. Anchoring the putter against your body is not (Rules of Golf, Rule 10.1b). Need a longer shaft too? See our premium putter shafts and Retrofit service.

Superstroke Zenergy Tour 2.0

New grip material adds amazing feel and control to the putter. Weight port is a plus. Check your size and go for it!

GMan Verified buyer · Zenergy Tour 2.0

Grip feel.

The way the oversize helps me to not "squeeze" the grip gives me a better feel of my putter. I love it!

Darrell Miller Verified buyer · Zenergy Tour 2.0

Nice grip

Thicker than my old grip and enforces using my shoulders rather than being wristy while putting. So far, I really like it. Would recommend to anyone who uses claw grip style of putting.

LB826 Verified buyer · Zenergy Claw 2.0

Fits my hands and it’s very comfortable.., makes putting more fun.. and.. I make more putts

FAQ

SuperStroke Grip FAQ

What do SuperStroke grip sizes 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 5.0 mean?

The number shows how wide the grip is. Within one shape, a higher number is a wider grip: the Zenergy Tour runs from 1.00″ wide (1.0) to 1.52″ (5.0). The same number isn’t the same width across shapes. A Flatso 2.0 is 1.08″ wide and a Pistol GT 2.0 is 1.32″, so compare widths in our size chart.

What size SuperStroke putter grip should I get?

Start with how you want it to feel. A 1.0 feels closest to a standard putter grip. A 2.0 or 3.0 sits in the middle of the range. A 3.0 or 5.0 suits golfers who want their hands as quiet as possible, or who have large hands.

If you can, hold a few sizes before you buy, as SuperStroke recommends. Or use our grip finder, or message us with the grip you use now and we’ll suggest a size.

What is the difference between the Zenergy Tour, Pistol, Flatso and Claw?

The shape. All four use the same Zenergy build with no taper. The Tour is straight and rounded, like a traditional grip. The Pistol GT has a pistol-shaped top that sets your upper hand in place. The Flatso has a wide, flat front with five edges. The Claw has a pistol-style top and three flat sides for golfers who putt with a claw grip.

Why does a SuperStroke 1.0 weigh more than a 2.0?

The core. SuperStroke’s Tour and Pistol 1.0 grips have a rubber core and the 2.0 grips have a lighter EVA foam core. A Tour 1.0 weighs 71 g and a Tour 2.0 weighs 55 g; a Pistol GT 1.0 is 83 g and a Pistol GT 2.0 is 51 g.

A lighter grip makes the putter head feel heavier, which is why SuperStroke suggests adding a CounterCore weight to the Tour 2.0 and Pistol 2.0.

Do SuperStroke grips come with a CounterCore weight?

No. SuperStroke grips ship without a weight. CounterCore weights are sold separately in 25 g, 50 g and 75 g and screw into the Tech-Port at the top of the grip. The Tour 1.0, 1.0PT, 2.0PT, 1.0P 17″ and TLT grips don’t have a Tech-Port, so they can’t take one.

What is SuperStroke CounterCore and who is it for?

CounterCore is SuperStroke’s weight system. A weight in the top of the grip adds mass under your hands and counterbalances the putter head. SuperStroke says it can help golfers whose stroke gets handsy or wristy, whose putter head feels too heavy, or who used to anchor the putter.

Will a SuperStroke grip fit my putter?

SuperStroke grips install with one piece of double-sided tape. SuperStroke notes they may not fit putters that have been cut down, have a reverse-taper shaft, or are belly putters. Not sure about yours? Send us your putter’s make and model before you order.

How do you install a SuperStroke putter grip?

Remove the old grip and all of the old tape, wrap one layer of double-sided grip tape, wet the tape and the inside of the grip with grip solvent, slide the grip on and line it up with the putter face. Let it dry before you play. See our SuperStroke re-gripping instructions for the full steps.

What replaced the SuperStroke Slim 3.0, Mid Slim 2.0 and Fatso 5.0?

The Legacy series (Ultra Slim 1.0, Mid Slim 2.0, Slim 3.0 and Fatso 5.0) is no longer made. The closest current grip is the Zenergy Tour in the same size number: Tour 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 or 5.0. Widths changed slightly between generations (the Mid Slim 2.0 was 1.20″; the Zenergy Tour 2.0 is 1.17″), so check the size chart.

Is the SuperStroke Flatso the same as the Fatso?

No. The Fatso 5.0 was a size in SuperStroke’s Legacy series, which is no longer made; its closest current match is the Zenergy Tour 5.0. The Zenergy Flatso is a current shape with a wide, flat front and five edges, made in 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0.

Is arm-lock putting legal?

Yes. Bracing the grip against your lead forearm is allowed under the Rules of Golf. Anchoring the putter against your body is not (Rule 10.1b). SuperStroke’s 17″ grips are made for arm-lock and counterbalance setups.

Is Grips4Less an authorized SuperStroke dealer?

Yes. Grips4Less is an authorized SuperStroke dealer, carrying SuperStroke putter grips, CounterCore weights and the REVL and Crossline 2.0 swing grips. Shop all SuperStroke grips.

Which SuperStroke swing grips do you carry?

The REVL Comfort, Player and Element, and the Crossline 2.0, SuperStroke’s update of the Lamkin Crossline, in wrap and full cord. Sizes run from undersize to jumbo, depending on the model.
