WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The Golf Pride Zero Taper is a parallel putter grip: the same width from the top of your lead hand to the bottom of your trail hand, so both hands get the same feel and neither one takes over. A flat paddle on the front squares your thumbs to the face, and the back is rounded into a horseshoe shape. Soft, tacky rubber with a dimple pattern. Medium (66 g) in black, red or blue, or Large (73 g) in black, on a 58 round core.
Not sure which shape suits your stroke? Our putter grip shapes guide walks through pistol, flat, round and parallel grips and who each one tends to help.
Who It's For
Good fit if you...
- Want both hands to feel the same, with no narrow spot for the trail hand to get busy in
- Like a fuller grip but found oversize paddles too big and too dead
- Want a flat front for your thumbs and a rounded back for your palms
- Want a bit of color on the putter without going to a bright paddle
Not the right fit if you...
- Want a slim lead hand and a full trail hand. That's the Reverse Taper Pistol or Reverse Taper Round.
- Putt by feel and want a firm, slim grip. The PRO Only is the opposite idea.
- Want Large in a color. Large is black only; the colors are Medium.
- Use a long or armlock putter that needs an extra-long grip. This is standard length.
How It Plays
One width, top to bottom. A normal grip narrows toward your trail hand, and a reverse taper widens there. This one does neither. Golfers who switch to it usually say their hands feel like one unit instead of two, and that's what the parallel shape is for.
Paddle front, horseshoe back. The flat front gives your thumbs a reference for square. The back is rounded so your palms wrap it without an edge to line up.
Soft and tacky. Dimpled, soft rubber that holds on without a glove. It mutes a little feedback compared with a firm grip, which most golfers want on the greens.
Grip weight changes how the head feels. Every 5 g you add at the grip end takes about 1 swingweight point off the putter, so the head feels lighter through the stroke. Medium is 66 g and Large is 73 g, so going up a size takes about 1.5 points off the head. Coming from a 75 g pistol grip, the Medium adds roughly 2 points of head feel. Soft grips need less solvent than firm ones; too much and it'll slide around while you're squaring the paddle.
