Who It's For

Good fit if you...

  • Want a very light shaft for more club head speed
  • Want a high launch with mid-plus spin
  • Swing under about 105 mph: Mitsubishi fits Lite under 80 mph, R at 81-90 mph and the 39 S at 91-105 mph
  • Want a soft tip that helps get the ball in the air

Not the right fit if you...

  • Swing over 105 mph: Mitsubishi has no Grand Bassara flex for that speed
  • Want a heavier, firmer shaft: look at the Mitsubishi Diamana or TENSEI lines
  • Want a low launch

How It Plays

Mitsubishi rates the Grand Bassara high launch, mid-plus spin, with a flex profile of medium butt, soft-plus mid and soft tip and a mid-low kick point. The soft tip and low kick point help launch the ball higher, and the very low weight is there to add club head speed.

Mitsubishi makes it in Japan to tight tolerances (plus or minus 1 gram and 1 cpm) and uses MR70 carbon fiber to keep a shaft this light strong and stable. The finish is a jet black ion plating with a holographic decal.

The 29 series has a much higher torque (10.8 to 11.8) than the 39 series (4.7 to 4.9), so the two weights feel quite different. The 39 series is the firmer, more stable option, and it is the only one made in S flex.

Frequently Asked Questions

What swing speed is the Grand Bassara for?

Mitsubishi's driver fitting chart puts Lite flex under 80 mph and R flex at 81-90 mph in both weights, and the 39 series S flex at 91-105 mph. It doesn't list a Grand Bassara flex above 105 mph.

Should I choose the 29 or 39 series?

The 29 series (32 to 35 grams) is the lightest, with a much higher torque of 10.8 to 11.8. The 39 series (43 to 48 grams) has a torque of 4.7 to 4.9 for a more stable feel and is the only weight made in S flex. Both carry the same high launch, mid-plus spin rating.

Why is the Grand Bassara so light?

Mitsubishi designed it as an ultra-lightweight shaft to add club head speed and ball speed. MR70 carbon fiber gives it the strength to stay stable at that weight.

Can this shaft be built for a fairway wood?

Yes. Select the fairway wood option and your adapter when adding to cart. Fairway builds can be cut from 38.5" to 43.5" adapter tip to grip, or built to the standard length for your head.

What's included with this assembled shaft?

The shaft arrives with your OEM-compatible adapter tip installed (Callaway, Cleveland, Cobra, Krank, Mizuno, Ping, PXG, Srixon, TaylorMade, Titleist, Tour Edge or Wilson; see all shaft adapters) and your chosen grip installed. Club head is not included. Just attach to your driver or fairway wood head and play. See full assembled shaft details.

Can I return an assembled shaft?

No. Each assembled shaft is built to your specs, so we can't restock it. Double-check your flex, length, grip and adapter before you order, and contact us if you'd like help confirming them.

Not sure which shaft is right for your game?

Text our shaft experts at (818) 473-9086 before you order. We've been fitting golfers since 1991 and are happy to talk through your swing speed, current shaft, and what you're trying to fix.
