AutoFlex shafts are available for a wide range of swing speeds. The flex designation (305, 405, 505, and X variants) corresponds to the swing speed range each shaft is designed for. A 305 is generally recommended for swing speeds around 60–75 mph, while a 505X is built for players swinging 95 mph and above. That said, swing speed alone doesn't determine the best fit — your tempo and transition play a big role. AutoFlex tends to perform best for players with a smooth, controlled transition, regardless of where their club head speed falls.

AutoFlex doesn't publish the full technical details of KHT — which is partly where the "hidden" comes from — but the general principle is that the material construction allows the shaft to store energy during the downswing and release it aggressively through impact. The shaft loads more completely than a conventional graphite shaft of similar weight, which is why many players see added distance without needing to swing harder. The KHT in the AutoFlex Original and Dream 7 runs the full length of the shaft; in the AutoPower line, it's used only in specific sections to create a more conventional overall feel.

The AutoFlex Original and Dream 7 use KHT throughout the entire shaft, giving them a very active, whip-like feel. The AutoPower shafts (KHT, Snipe) incorporate KHT only in strategic sections, which produces a more traditional shaft feel. AutoFlex positions the AutoPower lineup as a stepping stone — designed for players who want to benefit from the technology but aren't yet comfortable with the full-KHT experience. If you've tried a conventional stiff shaft your whole career, starting with the Snipe or KHT before moving to the Original is a reasonable approach.

Yes, but the fit depends on the specific model and flex. Players with faster swing speeds (95 mph and above) typically fit into the 505 or 505X range. The AutoPower Snipe, in particular, is designed with aggressive swingers in mind — it has a stiffer, more stable profile that holds up under an aggressive tempo. The full AutoFlex Original and Dream 7 can also work for fast swingers in the correct flex, but players who tend to "lash" at the ball may find those models harder to control.
