WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

This is the Fujikura Pro Iron in the ion-plated finish: the same graphite iron shaft with the same high-density core that gets you steel swingweights at steel length. Launch, spin and bend point all sit in the middle, so your irons fly the way they do now, just without the harshness of steel in your hands. The IP finish is offered on the 75i and 95i only, so this listing is the 75 series in R2, R and S and the 95 series in R and S. Every shaft is a 40.5" one-length blank with a 0.370" parallel tip and a 6.0" parallel section, built at 2-iron length so each one gets its own tip trim and a builder can soft step or hard step the set. Raw shaft, one for each iron, nothing cut and nothing installed.

Who It's For

Good fit if you...

  • Want the Pro Iron's numbers and prefer the look of the plated finish in the bag
  • Play steel now and want graphite that doesn't leave the club feeling head-light once it's built
  • Have irons with a 0.370" parallel hosel and a builder who's confirmed that's what they take
  • Play the 75 or 95 weight, since those are the only two series Fujikura plates

Not the right fit if you...

How It Plays

Same numbers, different finish. Fujikura publishes one spec table for the Pro Iron and offers the ion-plated finish on the 75i and 95i, so the weight, torque and stiffness numbers here are the standard 75i and 95i numbers. On the spec sheet the finish is the only difference, so expect an IP 7-iron and a standard one to play the same.

Steel swingweights without the steel. The usual problem with graphite irons is that the finished club comes out head-light and you end up adding lead tape to get the feel back. The high-density core is there to fix that. Build a 95i to the same length as your steel and the swingweight lands where you expect, so the club still has some heft through the ball.

Mid everything, on purpose. Mid launch, mid spin, mid bend point, in every weight and flex. If your irons fly the right height now and you only want to lose the sting of steel, this profile leaves your trajectory alone.

Picking a series and flex, and how to order

  • Match your current weight first. If you play steel in the 95 to 105 g range, the 95i is the natural landing spot. The 75i is for golfers who want a real drop in weight to pick up speed or save their arms late in the round. That's a big step, so make it on purpose.
  • Flex runs R2 to S on the 75i and R to S on the 95i. If you'd normally play an X in steel, the S will feel soft. The Pro 95 Tour Spec and Pro 115 Tour Spec are the firmer-tip builds and come in Tour S and Tour X.
  • Order one shaft for each iron. They all arrive at the same 40.5" and each one needs its own tip trim before it's cut to length. If your builder doesn't have Fujikura's iron trim chart, contact us with your set makeup before you cut anything.
  • 0.370" parallel only. If your irons take 0.355" taper, buy the Axiom taper instead. It's made for each iron and needs no sanding or shimming.

Pro 115i Tour Spec Tour S, Tour X 116.5 to 117 g 2.3 to 2.5 Low-mid Low-mid Mid-high

Launch, spin, bend point and torque are Fujikura's ratings. All four share the high-density core, the 40.5" blank and the 0.370" parallel tip; the Tour Spec builds have the stiffer tip. The whole brand lineup is in The Fujikura Shaft Guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the ion-plated shaft any different to hit?

Not by the numbers. Weight, torque, tip and butt stiffness, launch and spin match the 75i and 95i on the standard Pro Iron page, since Fujikura publishes one spec table for both. You're paying for the finish. If you don't care about it, buy the standard version and put the difference toward grips.

Can I mix IP and standard Pro Iron shafts in one set?

You can, since the specs are the same, and it's a handy way to fill the 65 or 85 weight that the IP line doesn't come in. The set will play as one set. It just won't look like one, so if that bothers you, pick one finish for the whole set.

My irons take a 0.355" taper tip. Will this fit?

No. This is a 0.370" parallel tip and it won't seat in a taper hosel without shimming or sanding, and we don't recommend either. The Fujikura answer for taper heads is the Axiom 0.355" taper. If you're not sure what your hosel takes, contact us with the head model before you order.

What does soft stepping or hard stepping actually do?

It uses the tip trim to move you between flexes. Each iron has its own trim amount, and the more you take off the tip, the stiffer the shaft plays. Soft stepping means trimming each shaft as if it were going into the next longer iron (the 7-iron gets the 6-iron trim), so the whole set plays a touch softer than the stamped flex. Hard stepping goes the other way. It's the reason Fujikura sells these as one-length blanks instead of pre-cut sets, and it's a good tool if you sit between the R and the S.

Does it come with a grip?

No. This is the bare 40.5" shaft, nothing installed and nothing cut. Grips, ferrules and tape are sold separately, and your builder will want the shaft trimmed and installed before the grip goes on anyway.
