WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Fujikura Ventus Blue with VeloCore+ is the mid-launch, low-spin shaft in the Ventus family, and the profile that fits the widest range of swings. The tip is ultra-stiff, the midsection is stiff and the handle stays firm, so the head doesn't twist on you at impact and your misses stay on the golf course. This is the raw shaft: 46" uncut, 3.0" parallel tip, 0.335" tip diameter, in 14 weight and flex options from a 5 R2 to a 9 X. If you build your own clubs or have a shop you trust, this is the listing you want.

Who It's For

Good fit if you...

  • Swing a driver somewhere between 85 and 110 mph and want spin down without losing launch
  • Spray it under pressure and want a shaft that keeps the face square through impact
  • Already play a Ventus Blue that came stock in your driver and want the real aftermarket version
  • Build your own clubs or have a fitter who'll cut, tip and install it for you

Not the right fit if you...

  • Swing under about 85 mph and need help getting the ball up. The Ventus Red launches higher, and the Ventus White is lighter still
  • Swing 110+ mph and still see too much spin and height. Go to the Ventus Black
  • Want it cut to length with the adapter and grip already on, ready to screw into your driver. Order the assembled Ventus Blue instead

How It Plays

Stable without feeling like a board. The firm handle lets you load it through transition, then the stiff tip takes over and holds the face. Golfers who come off a softer stock shaft usually tell us the miss got smaller before anything else changed. Once you trust it, you stop steering and start swinging through the ball again.

Mid launch, low spin, in the middle of the family. The Red launches higher with more spin and the Black flies lower and flatter. Blue sits between them with a mid bend point, which is why it fits so many different swings and tempos. You don't need perfect timing to get it to work.

The core is the whole point. VeloCore+ is a multi-material bias core that runs the length of the shaft and keeps the tip from twisting on off-center hits. The plus version adds another core material over the original VeloCore, and the goal is the same: tighter dispersion and a little more ball speed on the hits that aren't flush.

Picking a weight and flex, and what to tip

  • Weight before flex. Each series step adds about 7 to 10 g. If your current driver shaft is in the low 60s, start with the Blue 6. When you want more stability, go up a series before you go up a flex. The heavier shaft calms the head without making the whole club feel stiff.
  • The 5 R2 is the odd one. It drops to a low-mid bend point with mid spin and mid-high launch, on purpose, so slower swings still get the ball up. If that describes you, it's a good shaft. A smooth-tempo R flex player at 90 mph is better off in the 5 R.
  • The 8 and 9 series are fairway weights. They're built for 3 woods and up, and the mini driver crowd. Very few golfers want 85 g or more in a full-size driver.
  • Tip trimming. Fujikura's chart is 0" for a driver or 3 wood, 0.5" for a 5 wood, 1.0" for a 7 wood and 1.5" for a 9 wood, and every inch you tip is roughly one flex stiffer. Want to sit between S and X? Tip 0.5" and butt trim to length.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the same Ventus Blue that came stock in my driver?

Probably not. Most stock "Ventus Blue" shafts that ship in OEM drivers are made-for versions without VeloCore, and they play softer and spin more than this one. This is the full aftermarket shaft with VeloCore+. The launch window is similar, but the stability through impact is a different experience, and that's the part customers tell us they notice first.

Do I need an adapter to use this shaft?

Only if your driver or fairway has an adjustable hosel, which most do. The 0.335" tip fits every current adapter, and you can pick one up from our shaft adapters. If you'd rather not epoxy it yourself, the assembled listing includes the adapter and the install.

Does it work in a fairway wood?

Yes, and it's a popular 3 wood shaft. Most golfers go one series heavier in the fairway than in the driver, so a Blue 6 driver player usually ends up with a Blue 7 or 8 in the 3 wood. Follow Fujikura's tip trim chart above for 5 woods and up.

I'm between flexes. Which way do I go?

Go by your transition, not just your speed. A quick, aggressive move from the top wants the stiffer of the two. A smooth tempo at the same speed is happier in the softer one. If you're a stiff flex at 93 mph with a quick transition, the 5 S or 6 S is right. If you're smooth at 93, don't rule out the R.

Does this come with a grip or adapter?

No. This listing is the bare 46" shaft, nothing installed, nothing cut. If you want it ready to screw into your head, order the assembled Ventus Blue instead and choose your adapter, length and grip at checkout.
