Will this shaft fit your irons?

Check before you buy. Takes about 20 seconds.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Fujikura Pro Iron is a graphite iron shaft built around a high-density core, so it reaches the swingweights you're used to from steel at steel length without chasing head weight. Launch, spin and bend point all sit in the middle, which makes it the easy first stop when you want out of steel and don't want to change how your irons fly. It comes as a 40.5" one-length blank with a 0.370" parallel tip and a 6.0" parallel section, in the 65, 75, 85 and 95 series from R2 to S. Every shaft is a 2-iron-length blank that gets its own tip trim for the iron it goes in, which is also what lets a builder soft step or hard step a set. This is the raw shaft, one for each iron, nothing cut and nothing installed.

Not sure which weight you need? Take the 2-Minute Shaft Quiz or compare every Fujikura family in The Fujikura Shaft Guide.

Who It's For

Good fit if you...

  • Play steel now and want graphite that doesn't leave the club feeling head-light once it's built
  • Like the height and spin you get today and just want an easier shaft on your hands and elbows
  • Have irons with a 0.370" parallel hosel, or a builder who's confirmed that's what they take
  • Build your own clubs and want one blank you can tip for every iron in the bag

Not the right fit if you...

  • Have 0.355" taper hosels. Don't sand this one down. The Axiom 0.355" taper is made for each iron and drops straight in
  • Want a lower, flatter flight with less spin. That's the Pro 95 Tour Spec, or the Pro 115 Tour Spec if you play heavy steel
  • Want Fujikura's multi-material bias core in an iron shaft. Look at the Axiom 0.370"
  • Need help getting the ball up and want something lighter than 70 g. The Vista Pro Iron starts in the 40s and launches high

How It Plays

Steel swingweights without the steel. The usual problem with graphite irons is that the finished club comes out head-light, and you end up adding lead tape to get the feel back. The high-density core in the Pro Iron is there to fix that. Build a 95i to the same length as your steel and the swingweight lands where you expect, so the club still has some heft through the ball.

Mid everything, on purpose. Mid launch, mid spin, mid bend point, in every weight and flex. If your irons fly the right height now and you only want to lose the harshness of steel, this is the profile that leaves your trajectory alone. Golfers who want it lower and flatter should go to the Tour Spec builds instead.

One blank, trimmed for each iron. Every Pro Iron ships at 2-iron length. Your builder tip trims each one for its iron, then butt trims to playing length. Because the tip trim is what sets the stiffness, a builder can trim as if it were going into a longer iron to soften it a touch, or a shorter iron to firm it up, and land you between flexes.

Picking a series and flex, and how to order

  • Match your current weight first. If you play steel in the 95 to 105 g range, the 95i is the natural landing spot. Drop to the 85i if you want to pick up a little speed, and the 75i or 65i if a full round of heavy steel wears you out. Going lighter than you're used to is the biggest change in feel, so take it one series at a time.
  • Flex runs R2 to S here. The R2 is the softest build in the line and the S is the firmest on this page. If you'd normally play an X in steel, the S will feel soft. Go to the Pro 95 Tour Spec or Pro 115 Tour Spec, which come in Tour S and Tour X.
  • Order one shaft for each iron. They all arrive at the same 40.5" and each one needs its own tip trim before it's cut to length. If your builder doesn't have Fujikura's iron trim chart, contact us with your set makeup before you cut anything.
  • 0.370" parallel only. We sell these as Fujikura makes them and we don't turn the tip down for taper hosels. If your irons take 0.355" taper, buy the Axiom taper and save yourself the headache.

Graphite with a high-density core. Raw length 40.5", parallel tip section 6.0", tip diameter 0.370" (our measurement; the tip diameter isn't on Fujikura's chart). Tip flex and butt flex are Fujikura's stiffness ratings; within a model, the stiffer flex has the lower number.

How the Pro Iron Line Compares

Model Flexes Weights Torque Launch Spin Bend Point
Pro Iron 65i to 95i (You're here) R2, R, S 70 to 95 g 3.0 to 3.1 Mid Mid Mid
Pro 95i Tour Spec Tour S, Tour X 96 to 97.5 g 2.7 to 2.8 Low-mid Low-mid Mid-high
Pro 115i Tour Spec Tour S, Tour X 116.5 to 117 g 2.3 to 2.5 Low-mid Low-mid Mid-high

Launch, spin, bend point and torque are Fujikura's ratings. All three share the high-density core, the 40.5" blank and the 0.370" parallel tip; the Tour Spec builds have the stiffer tip. Want the same 75i or 95i with an ion-plated finish? That's the Pro Iron IP. The whole brand lineup is in The Fujikura Shaft Guide.

Related Fujikura Iron Shafts

Buying for a whole set and want it lower and flatter? The Pro 95 Tour Spec bundle set comes as 6, 7 or 8 shafts in one flex. If your irons take a taper tip, the Axiom 0.355" taper is the Fujikura shaft built for each iron. For a shaft that mixes metal and carbon for steel-like weight distribution, look at the MCI Iron.

Frequently Asked Questions

My wedges take a 0.355" taper tip. Will this fit?

No. This is a 0.370" parallel tip and it won't seat in a taper hosel without shimming or sanding, and we don't recommend either. It's the question we get asked most on this shaft, usually about wedges. If your heads take 0.355" taper, the Fujikura answer is the Axiom 0.355" taper, which is made for each iron. If you're not sure what your hosel takes, contact us with the head model before you order.

Can you turn the tip down to 0.355" for me?

We don't. Our policy is to sell every shaft as Fujikura made it. A skilled builder can sand a parallel tip into a taper, and some Fujikura charter dealers have the tools to do it, but it changes the tip from what the shaft was designed to be and it can void the warranty. If you want to go that route, buy the shaft here and take it to a builder you trust, knowing the risk is yours.

What does soft stepping or hard stepping actually do?

It uses the tip trim to move you between flexes. Each iron has its own trim amount, and the more you take off the tip, the stiffer the shaft plays. Soft stepping means trimming each shaft as if it were going into the next longer iron (the 7-iron gets the 6-iron trim), so the whole set plays a touch softer than the stamped flex. Hard stepping goes the other way. It's the reason Fujikura sells these as one-length blanks instead of pre-cut sets, and it's a good tool if you sit between the R and the S.

Pro Iron or Pro 95 Tour Spec?

Go by your flight and your flex. The Pro Iron is mid launch and mid spin and tops out at S. The Pro 95 Tour Spec is a couple of grams heavier with a much firmer tip, flies lower with less spin, and comes in Tour S and Tour X only. If you play stiff steel and your irons already fly plenty high, the Tour Spec is the better match. If you want to keep your current height, or you play R, stay here.

Does it come with a grip?

No. This is the bare 40.5" shaft, nothing installed and nothing cut. Grips, ferrules and tape are sold separately, and your builder will want the shaft trimmed and installed before the grip goes on anyway.
