Frequently Asked Questions

What launch does the Alpha Platinum have?

Alpha rates every Platinum build mid launch. It publishes no spin rating or bend point.

Which Platinum series and flex should I choose?

Alpha publishes no swing speed chart for the Platinum. Pick the weight that suits your tempo, then the flex: within each series, frequency rises from the softest to the stiffest flex (195 cpm in the 45 LL up to 280 cpm in the 65 X and 75 X). Contact us if you are between builds.

What tip size is the Alpha Platinum?

The Platinum is a 0.335" tip driver and fairway shaft. The parallel tip section runs from 2.5" to 5.0" depending on the build (see the specifications table). It fits 0.335" driver and fairway adapters, and we can install your adapter with the assembled version.

Should I tip trim the Alpha Platinum?

Not for most builds: Alpha's trim code A says to trim to length from the butt only. The 75 R uses code C: trim a driver from the butt, tip 1" for a 3 wood and an additional 0.5" for each higher fairway wood.

Is this shaft ready to install in my driver?

No. It's the uncut 46" shaft with no adapter or grip. For a shaft ready to play, order the assembled Alpha Platinum with your adapter tip, length and grip.

Questions & Answers

Have a Question?

Ask a Question
  • what is torque rating

Torque is how much the shaft twists when you swing. Lower torque = less twist (more stable). Higher torque = more twist (smoother).
