WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Golf Pride MCC Plus4 Standard is the cord and rubber hybrid most golfers end up reaching for. Cord on top keeps your top hand from slipping when it's hot or wet. The bottom half is softer rubber, built up to feel like four extra wraps of tape, so your trail hand can relax. It fits hands 6.6" to 7.5" (men's M or M/L glove), weighs 52 g, and comes in blue, grey, orange or red.

Not sure of your size? Measure from the crease of your wrist to the tip of your middle finger, then check our grip size guide.

Who It's For

Good fit if you...

  • Have hands 6.6" to 7.5", or wear a men's M or M/L glove
  • Squeeze too hard at the top of your swing. The thicker lower hand makes a lighter hold feel natural.
  • Like the classic MCC but have been adding tape under your bottom hand. Plus4 does that for you.
  • Play in heat, humidity or rain. The cord top keeps its bite when your hands are damp.

Not the right fit if you...

Want your team's colors? The same grip comes in two-tone combos as the MCC Plus4 Teams Standard.

How It Plays

Your bottom hand notices it first. There's less taper than a normal grip, so the lower half fills your fingers instead of getting skinny. You can hold it lighter without feeling like it'll twist on you, and lighter hands usually mean a freer release.

Two textures, two jobs. Brushed cotton cord in the upper hand soaks up moisture and gives you real traction. The lower hand is a softer rubber compound found only on the Plus4 line, so you get a bit of cushion where your trail hand does its work.

No slick spots. Pebble texture and small plus-sign patterns run the whole length, so the grip feels connected even below where the cord stops.

Heads up on swingweight. Rule of thumb: every 5 g of grip weight moves swingweight about 1 point. Switching from the original MCC Standard (46.5 g) adds about 5.5 g, so the head feels roughly 1 point lighter. Coming from a Tour Velvet Standard (49.5 g), the change is small enough that most golfers won't notice.

From Our Workbench

“We talk to players every day who feel pain or tension in their lower hand after a few rounds. The Plus4 builds up the lower part of the grip, so you naturally ease off, and that lighter hold actually gives you better control. Just know it isn't an overly soft grip; it's a balance of firm and medium soft. If you want more cushion, we'd point you to the Tour Wrap or CP grips.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this one grip or a set?

One grip. For a full set, the 10-pack and 13-grip kits above save you from ordering one at a time.

Is the MCC Plus4 a non-tapered grip?

Not quite. It's reduced taper. The lower hand is built up, but it still narrows a little toward the bottom. If you want truly straight, check our non-tapered grips.

Will it fit my shaft?

It fits any standard 0.600" butt, steel or graphite, on irons, woods and driver. If your butt measures closer to 0.700", it won't fit; measure again or send us a message and we'll help.

How is it different from the original MCC?

Same cord and rubber idea. The Plus4 adds a thicker lower hand and a softer rubber on the bottom, so it feels less tapered and a touch more cushioned. The upper hand feels about the same.

I want something softer. What should I look at?

The MCC Plus4 balances traction and cushion. For a noticeably softer, tackier feel, try the CP2 Pro or Tour Wrap 2G.

Should I get the ALIGN version instead?

Only if you want a raised ridge down the back so your hands land in the same spot every time. Otherwise they're the same grip, and the round version can be installed at any angle.
