WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The Mitsubishi MMT Utility Iron is a graphite shaft made for utility and driving irons, built with Metal Mesh Technology: braided stainless steel strands in the shaft's layers. It has a 0.355" taper tip and comes in the 105 series (S or TX) and the 125 series (TX), from 106 to 125 g. It arrives assembled with your choice of hybrid adapter and grip, ready to attach to your adjustable head.
What You Get
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Included | The shaft with your adapter tip and grip installed. Club head not included. |
| Club | Utility iron, driving iron or hybrid head that takes a hybrid adapter |
| Adapter tip | Callaway, Cobra, Mizuno, Ping, PXG, Srixon, TaylorMade, Titleist, Tour Edge or Wilson hybrid adapter, with your hosel setting (see all shaft adapters). The shaft has a 0.355" taper tip, so some adapters need a shim to fit it. |
| Length (adapter tip to grip) | A custom length from 37" to 42", or left uncut (the raw shaft is 40" before the adapter and grip go on) |
| Grip | Golf Pride, SuperStroke, Iomic or JumboMax, logo up or down, with up to 5 wraps of tape, or left ungripped |
| Build time | Made to order. Allow 5 to 7 extra business days before it ships. |
| Returns | Built to order, so assembled shafts can't be returned. See our return policy. |
Not sure about flex, length or adapter? Contact us before you order and we'll help you confirm the build.
Who It's For
Good fit if you...
- Play a utility or driving iron in an adjustable head and want the shaft ready to install
- Play MMT shafts in your irons and want the same construction in your long iron
- Want a heavier graphite build: 106 g to 125 g
- Swing fast: the fitting chart we have puts the 105 S at 91 to 105 mph and both TX builds at 106 mph and up (driver speed)
Not the right fit if you...
- Want to build it yourself: buy the MMT Utility Iron shaft on its own
- Play a hybrid built around a 0.370" tip shaft: see the assembled MMT Hybrid
- Want a light graphite shaft: the lightest build here is 106 g
How It Plays
Mitsubishi designed the MMT Utility Iron around the newer utility iron heads. It braids strands of 304 stainless steel into the shaft's prepreg layers; the mesh adds density and stability, so the composite walls can be thinner, which Mitsubishi says gives better feel and response with more consistent launch and spin.
Weight is the main choice. The 105 series weighs 106 g in S and 113 g in TX, and the 125 TX weighs 125 g. Torque is 2.9 on all three, with a mid kick point on the 105 S and mid-high on both TX builds.
