Will this shaft fit your irons?

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Nippon N.S. Pro 950GH neo is the 950GH lightweight steel iron shaft retuned for today's strong-lofted, low-CG iron heads. Nippon made the mid section firmer than the 950GH so the tip works more, which it says raises peak trajectory and spin for softer landings. This listing is the 0.355" taper-tip version, sold one shaft per iron (3-iron to wedge) in R, SR, S and X from 94.5 to 104 g.

Before you order: each shaft is made for one iron, so order one per club. See How Nippon Shaft Lengths Work.

Who It's For

Good fit if you...

  • Play strong-lofted, game-improvement style irons that launch too low or spin too little: Nippon built neo for exactly those heads
  • Want lightweight steel under 105 g, with an SR flex between R and S
  • Like the 950GH feel but want a little more height and spin from it
  • Have irons with a 0.355" taper-tip hosel and want a shaft made for each iron

Not the right fit if you...

How It Plays

Built for modern heads. Nippon designed neo because larger iron heads with strong lofts and low CG tend to cut spin and land hard. It keeps the handling and accuracy of the 950GH, which Nippon introduced in March 1999, and adds stiffness tuning from its Modus3 line through Multi Heat Treatment (MHT) and Multi Shape Adjustment (MSA).

Firm middle, active tip. The mid section is more rigid than the 950GH, so more of the flex happens near the tip. Nippon says that raises peak trajectory and spin, even in the long irons, for controlled extra distance and softer landings. It also moved to a standard 0.600" grip size (the 950GH is 0.610").

Four flexes. R weighs 94.5 g, SR 97 g, S 98 g and X 104 g, with torque falling from 1.9° to 1.6°. The kick point is middle on every flex.

Will It Fit Your Irons?

This shaft is for irons with a 0.355" taper-tip hosel. Order one shaft for each iron you are reshafting and pick the iron number in the dropdown: Nippon makes each taper shaft for a specific iron, so a 7-iron shaft is not meant to go in your 5-iron.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does the 950GH neo weigh?

Nippon lists 94.5 g for R, 97 g for SR, 98 g for S and 104 g for X.

Which flex should I choose?

Nippon does not publish a swing-speed range for the 950GH neo. Each step stiffer adds weight and lowers torque (1.9° R, 1.8° SR, 1.7° S, 1.6° X). Many players start near the weight and flex of their current shafts. Take the Iron Shaft Finder Quiz or text our team before ordering.

What is the difference between the 950GH and the 950GH neo?

Same weights, different tuning. The neo has a firmer mid section, so the tip works more for extra height and spin, and it uses a 0.600" butt instead of the 950GH's 0.610". Nippon built it for strong-lofted, low-CG iron heads.

What launch and spin does the 950GH neo have?

Nippon gives no separate rating, but says neo increases peak trajectory and spin compared with the 950GH, for softer landings with strong-lofted irons.

Is the 950GH neo steel or graphite?

Steel. It is a lightweight steel shaft at 94.5 to 104 g.
