Will this shaft fit your irons?

Check before you buy. Takes about 20 seconds.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Fujikura Axiom is a graphite iron shaft built around VeloCore, the multi-material bias core from the Ventus woods, so the head stays put through transition and impact instead of twisting on you. Fujikura's own tagline for it is "the iron shaft you ditch steel for." This listing is the 0.370" parallel-tip version, sold as three blanks: Long (40.5" raw) for the 2 to 4 iron, Mid (39") for the 5 to 7, and Short (37.5") for the 8-iron through wedge, each with a 2.5" parallel tip section. You get the 75, 95, 105 and 125 gram series here, and you trim each blank to fit the iron it goes in.

Not sure which series matches your swing? Take the 2-Minute Shaft Quiz or compare every family in The Fujikura Shaft Guide.

Who It's For

Good fit if you...

  • Play steel now and want graphite that holds the face the same way, at a weight close to what you already swing
  • Have irons with a 0.370" parallel hosel, or a builder who works with parallel blanks
  • Want a blank matched to each third of the set instead of one shaft cut nine different ways
  • Want the stability of VeloCore in your irons, anywhere from a 75 g shaft up to a 125 g shaft

Not the right fit if you...

  • Have irons with a 0.355" taper hosel. Get the Axiom 0.355" taper version, which comes made for each iron with nothing to trim
  • Want a light, high-launch shaft for more carry. Every Axiom series is rated mid or low-mid launch, and the Vista Pro Iron 40 to 60 series launch high
  • Want it cut, fitted with an adapter and gripped for an adjustable-hosel iron or hybrid. Order the assembled Axiom instead

How It Plays

Stable through the turn. VeloCore is a multi-material bias core that runs the length of the shaft and resists twist, so a strike toward the toe doesn't open the face the way it can with a softer graphite shaft. That's the part steel players worry about losing, and it's the part the Axiom keeps. The feel is smoother than steel at the same weight, and that smoother feel is what the steel players who ask us about it are after.

Mid flight in the 75 and 95, lower in the 105 and 125. The 75 and 95 are mid launch, mid spin, mid bend point. Step up to the 105 and launch and spin both drop to low-mid, with a mid bend in the S and mid-high in the X. The 125 is the flattest of the group: high bend point, low spin, low-mid launch, with torque down around 1.2 to 1.6 degrees. Heavier doesn't just mean stiffer here. It also means lower and tighter.

Three blanks, not one. Most parallel iron shafts are a single blank you tip more and more as the irons get shorter. The Axiom gives you a Long, Mid and Short blank instead, and each one is built for its three irons. Torque steps down from the Long to the Short in every series, so your wedge shaft plays tighter than your 4-iron shaft without you having to engineer that with the saw.

Picking a series, a flex and a blank

  • Start with the weight you play now. That's how we answer the fit questions on this page. Coming off a Dynamic Gold S300 at around 130 g, the 125 S is the closest step, not the 125 X. A 105 g steel player lands in the 105 S, or the 105 X for a firmer, more stable feel at the same weight.
  • Which blank. Long for the 2, 3 and 4 iron. Mid for the 5, 6 and 7. Short for the 8, 9 and wedges. Building a single-length set? Go by the playing length you're building to, not the iron number, and contact us if you're unsure which blank reaches it.
  • Dropping a series? Both the 105 and the 125 use the same VeloCore, so moving from the 125 to the 105 keeps the stability and takes weight off. Keep your wedges within about 10 to 20 g of your irons so the set doesn't feel like two different sets.
  • Wedges. Use the Short blank and the same flex you play in your irons, or one flex stiffer if you like a firmer wedge.
  • Tip trimming. The parallel section is 2.5". Fujikura's tip-trim chart on the page we checked covers woods and hybrids by loft, not irons by number, so go by your builder's chart for parallel iron blanks or contact us before you cut. Every blank already covers its three irons, which is less trimming than a one-length blank asks for.

Graphite. 0.370" parallel tip (our measurement from this listing; Fujikura's chart doesn't print tip diameter), 2.5" parallel tip section, butt diameter 0.600". Tip flex and butt flex are Fujikura's stiffness ratings; within a model, the stiffer flex has the lower number. Rows marked * are the 95 series and the 125 S, which aren't on the Fujikura chart we checked, so they carry our existing table.

How the Axiom Series Compare

Series (You're here) Launch Spin Bend Point Torque Flexes We Sell Weight
Axiom 75 Mid Mid Mid 2.1 to 2.6 R2, R, S 75 to 78 g
Axiom 105 Low-mid Low-mid Mid (S) / Mid-high (X) 1.5 to 1.9 S, X 105 g
Axiom 125 Low-mid Low High 1.2 to 1.6 S, X 124.5 to 125 g

Launch, spin, bend point and torque are Fujikura's ratings for the series on its current chart; the 125 S share of the 125 torque range is carried from our existing table. All three rows are sold on this page, which is why every row is highlighted. The 95 series sits between the 75 and the 105 with the same mid launch and mid spin on our table, but it isn't on the Fujikura chart we checked. Need it in a 0.355" taper hosel? That's the Axiom 0.355" taper, made for each iron. Want it built? See the assembled Axiom. The whole brand lineup is in The Fujikura Shaft Guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do Long, Mid and Short mean in the dropdown?

They're the three blanks. Long is for your 2, 3 and 4 iron, Mid for your 5, 6 and 7, and Short for your 8-iron through wedge. It's come up more than once in the questions on this page. Order one shaft for each club and pick the blank that covers it, so a 5-PW set is three Mid and three Short.

Will it fit my irons?

If your hosel takes a 0.370" parallel shaft, yes; the Cobra 3DP Tour irons that came up on this page are one example. A lot of forged and tour-style irons take a 0.355" taper instead, and those need the Axiom 0.355" taper. Tell us the exact iron model before you order and we'll confirm the tip size.

I want to drop from the 125 to the 105. Do I lose the stability?

No. The 105 uses the same VeloCore, so the stability carries over. You lose about 20 g and the launch stays low-mid, so the flight looks similar with less effort. The one thing to watch is your wedges: if they're still 125 g, the gap in weight will show up as a tempo change between a 9-iron and a gap wedge. Match them down when you can.

Can I use the Short blank in a wedge?

Yes. The Short blank is built for the 8-iron through wedge and goes in any wedge with a 0.370" hosel. Play the same flex as your irons, or one flex stiffer if you like a firmer feel on partial shots. Check the tip size on your wedge model first; plenty of wedges are 0.355" taper even when the matching irons are parallel.

Is this VeloCore+ like the current Ventus?

No. The Axiom uses the original VeloCore, tuned for an iron shaft. The job is the same: a multi-material bias core that keeps the tip from twisting on off-center hits. Irons load a shaft differently than a driver does, so the torque numbers here are much lower than on any Ventus wood shaft.
