WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Fujikura Ventus Red with VeloCore+ is a mid-high launch, mid spin driver shaft built for golfers with swing speeds between 70-105 mph who want to maximize carry distance with the face-stabilizing benefits of VeloCore+ technology. The highest-launching profile in the standard Ventus lineup, with a stiff tip and ultra-stiff handle that promote a high, active ball flight without sacrificing the dispersion control Ventus is known for. The widest flex and weight range of any Ventus profile -- R2 through TX, 5 series through 9 series. Arrives fully assembled with your adapter and grip installed. Plug it in and play.

Who It's For

Good fit if you...

  • Swing between 70-105 mph and want to maximize carry distance
  • Tend to launch too low or struggle to carry hazards
  • Want a high ball flight without the feel of an ultra-soft shaft
  • Are upgrading from a stock OEM shaft and want VeloCore+ stability at a higher launch
  • Have tried the Ventus Blue and found it launched too low for your game
  • Play in calm conditions where a higher, softer landing ball flight is an advantage
  • Want the broadest flex and weight selection in the Ventus family -- R2 through TX, 59g through 94.5g

Not the right fit if you...

  • Already launch too high or spin too much -- look at the Ventus Blue or Black instead
  • Swing under 70 mph -- the Ventus White, Air Speeder, or Sakura are better starting points
  • Want the lowest possible spin -- both the Blue and Black deliver tighter spin control than the Red
  • Have a very fast tempo and need maximum tip stiffness -- the Ventus Blue's ultra-stiff tip handles aggressive transitions better

How It Plays

The Ventus Red has a unique bend profile that sets it apart from every other shaft in the Ventus family: stiff tip, firm mid, ultra-stiff handle. That combination might seem counterintuitive for a high-launch shaft, but it works by design. The stiff tip allows for an active release that promotes height, while the ultra-stiff handle prevents the butt end from loading too aggressively -- keeping the overall profile stable and the shot shape consistent. The firm mid section bridges the two, creating a smooth energy transfer from backswing to impact.

VeloCore+ brings the re-engineered multi-material bias core construction that stabilizes the clubhead through impact. On the Red, VeloCore+ is doing important work: high-launch shafts with soft tips historically produce wider dispersion because the active tip can twist on off-center hits. VeloCore+ counters that, giving you the launch benefits of a stiff tip without the dispersion penalty you'd get from a cheaper high-launch shaft.

The low bend point positions the shaft's flex point close to the tip, which amplifies the launch effect further. Combined with the stiff tip and VeloCore+ stability, the Red delivers what most high-launch shafts can't: genuine height with genuine control. It's why the Red has become the go-to recommendation for moderate swing speeds who want to add carry without giving up the consistency that VeloCore+ provides.

Frequently Asked Questions

What swing speed is the Ventus Red designed for?

The R2 and R flex 5 series suit swing speeds from about 70-85 mph. Regular flex works well from 80-90 mph, Stiff fits 90-100 mph, and X flex suits 95-108 mph. TX is available in the 6 and 7 series for tour-level speeds above 110 mph who still want a higher launch profile. The 8 and 9 series are primarily for fairway woods.

What's the difference between the Ventus Red and the Ventus TR Red?

Same general mid-high launch, mid spin profile -- but the TR version adds Spread Tow material in the mid and handle sections for better torsional stability, and upgrades to VeloCore+ with a more advanced bias core construction. The TR Red also has a refined tip section compared to the standard Red. If you want the classic Ventus Red feel with the broadest weight and flex selection, the standard Red is the call. If you want the latest construction with tighter dispersion and a slightly more refined feel, the TR Red is worth the upgrade.

Why does the Ventus Red have an ultra-stiff handle if it's a high-launch shaft?

The ultra-stiff handle is what keeps the Red from becoming unpredictable at moderate swing speeds. A soft handle would load easily through transition and potentially kick in inconsistent directions at impact -- especially for players who haven't yet developed precise timing in their swing. The stiff handle ensures the shaft loads cleanly and releases consistently, so the launch benefit of the stiff tip translates into repeatable performance rather than random high shots. It's a counterintuitive but deliberate design choice.

Is the Ventus Red good for fairway woods?

Yes -- and the 8 and 9 series were added specifically for this purpose. The 8-S and 8-X suit 3-woods and 5-woods for players who want a high, carrying ball flight with VeloCore+ stability. The 9-X is for 7-woods and 9-woods where players need the additional weight to properly load higher-lofted fairway heads. Select the fairway wood option and your adapter when adding to cart.

What's included with this assembled shaft?

The shaft arrives with your OEM adapter tip installed (TaylorMade, Callaway, Ping, Cobra, Titleist, Mizuno, PXG, or Wilson) and your chosen grip installed. Club head is not included. Just attach to your driver or fairway wood head and play. See full assembled shaft details.

Questions & Answers

Have a Question?

Ask a Question
  • Is Ventus really worth the price or just hype?

It depends. The biggest benefit of the Ventus shafts is stability. Across the board, they are some of the most stable shafts on the market, and that can make a real difference for almost any type of player. If you have ever played a shaft where the ball flight feels a little inconsistent or like the shaft is wavering through impact, you will immediately notice how much more controlled and repeatable Ventus feels.

That said, it is a premium shaft with a premium price. If you are just starting out, there are more entry level options like Vista Pro or ProLaunch that can help you learn how to load the shaft and take advantage of your swing.

But for most golfers, once they try Ventus, they notice the difference right away. I would say well over 90 percent of players who test it see a real benefit, regardless of skill level.

  • I'm 62yo and have been playing the Alta CB 50/Regular shaft for a few years and am ready to upgrade. Would the Ventus Red be a good shaft for me to try?

The Alta CB is a soft, counterbalanced shaft designed to help players with slower swing speeds get the clubhead moving, and it's actually one of the more beginner-friendly OEM shafts out there. Moving into the Ventus line is a solid upgrade, but the right model depends on what you're actually trying to do with your ball flight.

If you're 62 and playing a 50g Regular, your swing speed is probably in the 75–90 mph range. Here's where I'd point you in the Ventus family:

Ventus Red — This is the most natural landing spot coming from the Alta CB. It's the higher-launching, higher-spinning option in the Ventus lineup, with a softer feel that loads smoothly on a moderate swing. You'll get noticeably better stability and feel than the Alta without demanding more speed than you have. Start here if you're happy with your current ball flight and just want better performance.

Ventus Blue — If you feel like you're getting enough height already and want a tighter, more controlled flight, the Blue is worth a look. It's mid-launch, mid-spin, and has a smooth feel that works well for a wide range of swing speeds. A lot of mid-60s players end up here after a fitting because it gives them more consistency without going too low.

Ventus Black — Probably not the right fit here. It's built for faster, more aggressive swingers, and at Regular flex speeds it's likely to feel stiff and unresponsive.

One thing worth noting: Ventus shafts start at 50–55g in lighter versions, so you don't have to jump up in weight. That makes the transition from the Alta CB pretty manageable.

  • What's the difference between the different series (series 5 reg and series 5 r2 reg). Thanks

Thanks for your question about the Fujikura Ventus with VeloCore+ Red Graphite Shafts! It's a great shaft, and understanding the flex options is key to getting the right performance.

You're asking about the difference between "series 5 reg" and "series 5 r2 reg." Here's a breakdown:

    • "Series 5" refers to the weight category of the shaft, typically indicating it's in the 50-gram class.

    • "Reg" stands for Regular flex. This is the standard Regular flex designed for golfers with moderate swing speeds.

    • "R2 Reg" (sometimes simply "R2" or "A flex" for "Amateur/Senior") is a softer version of Regular flex. It's designed for golfers who have slightly slower swing speeds than those who fit into a standard Regular flex, but are still too fast for a Ladies flex.

    In essence:

    • 5-R2 (or 5-A): This is for slower, smoother swing tempos that need a bit more help with shaft loading to generate clubhead speed, higher launch, and potentially more spin.

    • 5-R (Regular): This is for golfers with a more typical "regular" swing speed and tempo, offering a balance of feel and stability.

Choosing between the two usually comes down to your driver swing speed and tempo:

    • If your driver swing speed is typically in the 75-85 mph range, the 5-R2 might be a better fit to optimize launch and feel.

    • If your driver swing speed is more in the 85-95 mph range, the 5-R (Regular) would likely be more appropriate.

Knowing your swing speed (even a rough estimate) can help you decide which flex will give you the best performance for your game.

I hope this helps clarify the difference! Let us know if you have any further questions.
