Will this shaft fit your irons?

Check before you buy. Takes about 20 seconds.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Fujikura Axiom is a graphite iron shaft built around VeloCore, the multi-material bias core from the Ventus woods, so the head stays put through transition and impact instead of twisting on you. Fujikura's own tagline for it is "the iron shaft you ditch steel for." This listing is the 0.355" taper-tip version: one shaft made for each iron from the 2-iron through the wedge, already tapered for that iron, in the 75, 95, 105 and 125 gram series. Pick a series and flex, then add one shaft for every iron you're reshafting.

Not sure which series matches your swing? Take the 2-Minute Shaft Quiz or compare every family in The Fujikura Shaft Guide.

Who It's For

Good fit if you...

  • Play steel now and want graphite that holds the face the same way, at a weight close to what you already swing
  • Have irons with a 0.355" taper hosel and want a shaft made for each iron, with no tip-trim chart to follow
  • Want the stability of VeloCore in your irons, anywhere from a 75 g shaft up to a 125 g shaft
  • Build your own sets, or have a builder who'll install and swingweight them for you

Not the right fit if you...

  • Have irons with a 0.370" parallel hosel. Get the Axiom 0.370" parallel version, sold as Long, Mid and Short blanks
  • Want a light, high-launch shaft for more carry. Every Axiom series is rated mid or low-mid launch, and the Vista Pro Iron 40 to 60 series launch high
  • Want it built with an adapter tip and grip for an iron or hybrid with an adjustable hosel. That's the assembled Axiom, which uses the 0.370" parallel version

How It Plays

Stable through the turn. VeloCore is a multi-material bias core that runs the length of the shaft and resists twist, so a strike toward the toe doesn't open the face the way it can with a softer graphite shaft. That's the part steel players worry about losing, and it's the part the Axiom keeps. The feel is smoother than steel at the same weight, and that smoother feel is what the steel players who ask us about it are after.

Mid flight in the 75 and 95, lower in the 105 and 125. The 75 and 95 are mid launch, mid spin, mid bend point. Step up to the 105 and launch and spin both drop to low-mid, with a mid bend in the S and mid-high in the X. The 125 is the flattest of the group: high bend point, low spin, low-mid launch, with torque down around 1.2 to 1.6 degrees. Heavier doesn't just mean stiffer here. It also means lower and tighter.

Made for each iron. This is a taper set, not a blank. Each shaft comes at the raw length for its iron, from 40.5" in the 2-iron down to 36.5" in the wedge, with the taper and tip already done. Weight and torque step down through the set along with the length, so the wedge shaft is a little lighter and a little tighter than the 4-iron shaft in the same series.

Picking a series and flex

  • Start with the weight you play now. That's how we answer the fit questions on this page. A 95 g steel or SteelFiber player lands in the Axiom 95, a 105 g player in the 105, and a 120 g or heavier X-flex player in the 125 X. Go lighter only if you've already decided you want less weight, and change one thing at a time.
  • S or X in the 125? The S is a little easier to load and feels smoother. The X has less bend and lower torque, and it suits a quick transition and higher speed. If your current shaft is a 120 g X and you like it, stay in X.
  • Wedges. Stay in the same series you play in your irons. The feel through the set stays consistent, and if your irons aren't ballooning, your wedges won't either.
  • Tip weights. Standard 0.355" taper tip weights work: 2 to 4 g for a small swingweight move, 6 to 8 g for a bigger one. Make sure the weight sits fully inside the hosel, and never force an oversized weight into a graphite tip.
  • Nothing to tip. Each shaft arrives tapered for its iron, so the only cut is the butt trim to your playing length. If you'd rather we cut them before they ship, contact us with your lengths before you order.

Numbers above are Fujikura's 7-iron row for each series. Graphite. 0.355" taper tip (our measurement from this listing; Fujikura's chart doesn't print tip diameter), butt diameter 0.600". Tip flex and butt flex are Fujikura's stiffness ratings; within a model, the stiffer flex has the lower number. Rows marked * are the 95 series and the 125 S, which aren't on the Fujikura chart we checked, so they carry our existing table. Length and weight step down by iron number:

How the Axiom Series Compare

Series (You're here) Launch Spin Bend Point Torque Flexes We Sell Weight
Axiom 75 Mid Mid Mid 2.1 to 2.6 R2, R, S 72.5 to 75 g
Axiom 105 Low-mid Low-mid Mid (S) / Mid-high (X) 1.3 to 1.9 S, X 102.5 to 105 g
Axiom 125 Low-mid Low High 1.2 to 1.6 S, X 122 to 126 g

Launch, spin, bend point and torque are Fujikura's ratings for the series on its current chart; the 125 S share of the 125 torque and weight ranges is carried from our existing table. All three rows are sold on this page, which is why every row is highlighted. The 95 series sits between the 75 and the 105 with the same mid launch and mid spin on our table, but it isn't on the Fujikura chart we checked. Same shaft with a 0.370" parallel tip? That's the Axiom 0.370" parallel. Want it built? See the assembled Axiom. The whole brand lineup is in The Fujikura Shaft Guide.

Want It Built and Ready to Play?

For an iron or hybrid with an adjustable hosel, we build the assembled Fujikura Axiom. It uses the 0.370" parallel blanks (Long, Mid or Short) and comes with:

  • Your adapter tip, installed and set to your hosel setting
  • The shaft cut to the adapter-tip-to-grip length you give us
  • Your grip, installed

Frequently Asked Questions

I play steel now. Which Axiom is the closest match?

Match the weight first and the flex second. Golfers who've asked us about this page have come from a SteelFiber i95, a KBS C-Taper Lite 105 and a KBS Tour-V 120 X, and the answers line up the same way: the i95 player goes to the 95 S, the C-Taper Lite 105 S player to the 105 S, and the Tour-V 120 X player to the 125 X. Keep the flex you already play. If you want the long irons to launch a little higher, the 105 S is the one to try before you drop a series.

What's the difference between the 0.355" and 0.370" Axiom?

Same shaft design, different tip and a different way of buying it. This 0.355" version is tapered for one specific iron, so you order by iron number and there's no tip trimming. The 0.370" parallel version comes as Long, Mid and Short blanks that cover three irons each and get trimmed to fit. Your hosel decides which one you need, so check that before anything else.

Do I really need a different shaft for every iron?

Yes. A 7-iron shaft is built for a 7-iron, and it's shorter and a touch lighter than the 5-iron shaft in the same series. Pick the iron number in the dropdown for each club and add one of each. If you're reshafting a 4-iron through pitching wedge, that's seven shafts.

Can I put these in my wedges?

Yes. Use the Wedge option in the dropdown and the same series and flex as your irons. The one time we'd point you elsewhere is if you already balloon your short irons and want a flatter wedge flight; then a steadier, lower-launch wedge shaft is worth a conversation before you order.

Is this VeloCore+ like the current Ventus?

No. The Axiom uses the original VeloCore, tuned for an iron shaft. The job is the same: a multi-material bias core that keeps the tip from twisting on off-center hits. Irons load a shaft differently than a driver does, so the torque numbers here are much lower than on any Ventus wood shaft.
