WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Fujikura Ventus TR Blue with VeloCore is the original-generation TR Blue: a mid-launch, low-spin driver shaft built for golfers with swing speeds between 85-110 mph who want spin control, face stability and the Spread Tow construction that made the TR Blue one of the most tour-played shafts in modern golf. We sell it from the 5 to the 9 series, R2 through TX, 13 options in all. It arrives with your adapter tip and grip installed, cut to length, ready to screw into your driver or fairway wood.

Not sure TR Blue is your profile? Take the 2-Minute Shaft Quiz or compare every profile in our Fujikura Ventus Shaft Guide.

This is the original Ventus TR Blue, with VeloCore and Spread Tow. The current version is the assembled 2026 Ventus TR Blue VeloCore+. It keeps the Spread Tow fabric and swaps in the VeloCore+ core, a multi-material bias core with one more core material than the original, and it carries the same mid launch, low spin rating on Fujikura's chart. If you already play this generation and like it, there's no reason to move. If you're buying your first TR Blue, look at both.

Who It's For

Good fit if you...

  • Swing between 85 and 110 mph and want spin down without giving up the launch you need to carry it
  • Have a quick transition and want a handle that stays put when you change direction at the top
  • Play a TR Blue that came stock in your driver and want the full aftermarket version with VeloCore
  • Want it built to your adapter, length and grip, ready to play the day it arrives

Not the right fit if you...

  • Swing under about 85 mph or already launch it too low to carry. The TR Red gives you more height, and the Ventus White is the lightweight option
  • Swing 110+ mph and launch it high even in a stiff, low-spin shaft. Step up to the TR Black
  • Build your own clubs and just want the raw shaft. Grab the uncut TR Blue and save the build time

How It Plays

The handle is the difference. Spread Tow is an ultra-light carbon fabric laid into the mid and handle sections to keep them from twisting and going out of round while you load the shaft. What you feel is a handle that stays on plane through transition instead of lagging behind a fast move. The tip is still a stiff Ventus tip, so the face holds through impact the same way the Blue always has.

Mid launch, low spin, the middle of the TR line. The TR Red launches higher with a little more spin, and the TR Black flies lower off a high bend point. Blue sits between them with a mid bend point, so it doesn't need perfect timing to work. Every option on the chart carries the same mid launch, low spin rating, from the 5 R2 to the 9 X.

VeloCore underneath it all. The multi-material bias core runs the length of the shaft and keeps the tip from twisting on off-center hits. That's where the tighter dispersion comes from. The 2026 version adds one more material to this core; the original here is the core the TR line was built on.

Before you pick your options

  • Weight before flex. Each series step is about 10 g: the 5 series runs 56 to 58 g, the 6 is 67.5 to 69.5, the 7 is 77.5 to 80.5 and the 8 is 86.5 to 90. If your driver shaft today is in the high 60s, start with the TR Blue 6. When you want more stability, go up a series before you go up a flex.
  • TX stiffens the handle, not the tip. On the chart the 6 TX has the same tip flex number as the 6 X (90) and a stiffer butt (71 against 78). Same story in the 7 and 8 series. Pick TX when you load the handle hard and the X still feels soft at the top, not because you want a stiffer tip.
  • Length is measured adapter tip to grip. The number you pick is the shaft assembly with no head on it. Choose the standard length option for your brand and you get that brand's stock playing length. For a custom length, remember the head adds roughly an inch, so a driver you want to play at 45.25" is about a 44.25" tip-to-grip build. Every half inch you take off costs about three swingweight points, so if you go shorter than stock, tell us and we can add tape under the grip or you can plan a heavier head weight.

Graphite. Raw length 46" before we cut it, parallel tip section 3.0", tip diameter 0.335" (our measurement; the tip diameter isn't on Fujikura's chart). Tip flex and butt flex are Fujikura's stiffness ratings; within a model, the stiffer flex has the lower number.

How the Original Ventus TR Line Compares

Profile Launch Spin Bend Point Weights Our Speed Guide
TR Red Mid-high Mid-low Mid (7 X and 8 X: mid-high) 59 to 89.5 g 70 to 105 mph
TR Blue (You're here) Mid Low Mid 56 to 97 g 85 to 110 mph
TR Black Low Low High 59 to 89 g 100+ mph

Launch, spin and bend point are Fujikura's ratings. Line the three up at the same series and flex and the TR Red carries the highest tip flex number, so its tip is the softest of the three; the TR Black carries the lowest. The speed column is our fitting guidance from building these for customers, not a Fujikura number. Want the Blue profile without the Spread Tow layer? That's the assembled original Ventus Blue. The whole brand lineup is in The Fujikura Shaft Guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the adapter fit an older head, like a TaylorMade RBZ or a Titleist TS3?

It depends on the head, which is why the dropdown lists head models and not just brands. Adapter fit is the question we get most on this page, so here are a few we've answered: the first TaylorMade RBZ used its own adapter, while the RBZ Stage 2 shares the sleeve that runs from the M3 through the M6. Titleist TS3 and TSi3 take the same adapter. Cobra's LTD and LTDx use the same one. Mizuno's ST-G 440 is in the list. If your head isn't in the dropdown, contact us before you order and we'll check it.

I want my driver to play at 45". What length do I pick?

Our length dropdown is adapter tip to grip, with no head on it, so don't pick 45". The standard length option for your brand gives you that brand's stock playing length. For a custom number, the head adds about an inch and it varies by model. When a customer asked us this about a current Callaway driver at 45", the build came out to about 44 5/8" tip to grip because that head adds a little over an inch. Contact us with your head model and we'll give you the exact number.

My old shaft is marked 5-A. What flex is that?

A is Senior flex (some brands call it Amateur), and it's softer than Regular. Fujikura labels the aftermarket TR Blue R2, R, S, X and TX rather than A, so the match on this listing is the 5 R2. Same weight class, same soft end of the range.

Is this the TR Blue that came stock in my driver?

Probably not. Stock Ventus shafts in OEM drivers are usually made-for versions without VeloCore, and they play softer and spin more than this one. This is the full aftermarket TR Blue with VeloCore and Spread Tow. If the shaft in your driver is marked Ventus TR Blue but there's no VeloCore marking anywhere on it, it's a different shaft.

Can I use this in a fairway wood?

Yes. Choose the fairway wood option and your adapter when you add it to the cart. Most golfers go one series heavier in the fairway than in the driver, so a TR Blue 6 driver player usually ends up with a 7 or 8 in the 3 wood. The 9 X is a 7 or 9 wood shaft.

I'm left-handed. Is anything different about the build?

Nothing about the shaft itself. It isn't handed, and the specs and performance are identical. The only difference is the adapter: some brands make a separate left-handed sleeve, and we install the right one for your head. Just pick your brand and we'll take it from there.

Not sure which shaft is right for your game?

Text our shaft experts at (818) 473-9086 before you order. We've been fitting golfers since 1991 and are happy to talk through your swing speed, current shaft, and what you're trying to fix.
