WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Fujikura Ventus Red with VeloCore+ is the mid-high launch, mid-spin driver shaft in the Ventus family, built for golfers in the 70 to 105 mph range who want more carry with the same face stability the Blue and Black are known for. The tip is stiff, the mid is firm and the handle is ultra-stiff, so it gets the ball up without feeling loose at the top of the swing. You pick from 11 weight and flex options, 5 R2 through 9 X, and it arrives with your adapter tip and grip installed, cut to length, ready to screw into your driver or fairway wood.

Who It's For

Good fit if you...

  • Swing between 70 and 105 mph and want more height and carry than a mid-launch shaft gives you
  • Launch it low, or watch drives fall out of the sky short of the carry number you need
  • Play a stock regular-flex shaft now and want your first real aftermarket Ventus without jumping to a stiffer profile
  • Want a wide choice, R2 through X and 59 to 94.5 g, built to your specs and ready on arrival

Not the right fit if you...

  • Already launch it high or spin it too much. The Ventus Blue brings spin down, and the Ventus Black takes launch down with it
  • Swing under about 70 mph or need every gram gone. The Ventus White is 49.5 g and launches higher still
  • Have a quick, aggressive transition and want the Red flight with Spread Tow in the mid and handle. That's the 2026 Ventus TR Red
  • Build your own clubs and just want the raw shaft. Grab the uncut Ventus Red and save the build time

How It Plays

Height without the loose feel. Most shafts that launch high get there with a soft handle, and you pay for it with a shot that starts left or right when your timing is off. The Red does the opposite. The ultra-stiff handle keeps the butt end from loading too hard through transition, and the low bend point lets the shaft do its work down near the head. You get the launch, and the face still arrives square.

Mid-high launch and mid spin, with one wrinkle. The Red 5, 6 and 7 are the mid-high launch shafts with a low bend point. The Red 8 and 9 move to a low-mid bend point and a mid launch, which makes sense once you know those weights live in fairway woods, where a little less height is usually what you want. Every option is rated mid spin.

The core is the whole point. VeloCore+ is a multi-material bias core that runs the full length of the shaft and keeps the tip from twisting on heel and toe hits. On a higher-launch shaft that matters more, not less, because an active tip is exactly the kind that wants to twist. The plus version adds another core material over the original VeloCore, and the goal is the same: tighter dispersion and a little more ball speed on the hits that aren't flush.

Before you pick your options

  • Weight before flex. The Red 5 is 59 to 59.5 g, the Red 6 is 67 to 67.5 g and the Red 7 is 77.5 to 78 g. If your current driver shaft is in the 50s, start with the Red 5. Low 60s, the Red 6. When you want more stability, go up a series before you go up a flex, because the heavier shaft calms the head without making the whole club feel stiff.
  • The 8 and 9 series are fairway weights. At 85 to 94.5 g they're built for 3 woods and 5 woods, with the 9 X for 7 woods and 9 woods. Those are also the options that drop to a mid launch, so don't expect them to fly like the Red 6 does in your driver.
  • Length is measured adapter tip to grip. The number you pick is the shaft assembly with no head on it. Choose the standard length option for your brand and you get that brand's stock playing length. For a custom length, remember the head adds roughly an inch, so a driver you want to play at 45.25" is about a 44.25" tip-to-grip build. Every half inch you take off costs about three swingweight points, so if you go shorter than stock, tell us and we can add tape under the grip or you can plan a heavier head weight.

Graphite. Raw length 46" before we cut it, parallel tip section 3.0", tip diameter 0.335" (our measurement; the tip diameter isn't on Fujikura's chart). Tip flex and butt flex are Fujikura's stiffness ratings; within a model, the stiffer flex has the lower number.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a Ventus worth the price, or is it hype?

What you're paying for is stability. If you've ever played a shaft that felt like it wavered through impact, or your flight changed from swing to swing for no reason you could name, you'll feel the difference on the first range session. Most golfers who test one notice it right away, and that includes mid and high handicaps. The group we'd steer elsewhere is true beginners. If your swing is still changing every month, something like the Vista Pro teaches you to load a shaft for a lot less money.

I'm coming off a stock 50 g regular flex like a Ping Alta CB. Is the Red where I land?

Usually, yes. A stock 50 g regular tells us you're probably somewhere in the 75 to 90 mph range, and the Red 5 R is the natural step up: a bit heavier at 59.5 g, a lot steadier through impact, and still easy to load on a moderate swing. If you already get plenty of height and want a tighter flight, look at the Blue 5 R instead. The Black isn't the answer at regular-flex speeds. One thing to know before you order: the lightest Red is 59 g, so if staying under 50 g matters to you, the Ventus White is the only Ventus that gets there.

What's the difference between the 5 R and the 5 R2?

Same weight class, different stiffness. The R2 is a softer regular, what other brands call an A or senior flex, with a 116 tip flex rating against the R's 110. It's for a smooth tempo that needs a little help loading the shaft, roughly 75 to 85 mph. From the mid 80s to the mid 90s, the 5 R is the better fit. If you're on the line, go by your transition: smooth takes the R2, quick takes the R.

What's the difference between the Ventus Red and the 2026 Ventus TR Red?

Both have the VeloCore+ core and both are rated mid-high launch. The TR Red adds Spread Tow carbon fabric in the mid and handle, which cuts twist during transition and brings spin down a notch, from mid to mid-low. It also runs a gram or two heavier in each series. If you have a quick move from the top and want the Red flight with a little less spin, the TR is the call. If you want the classic Red with the widest weight and flex choice, this is the one.

I want it half an inch shorter than stock. What length do I order?

Our length dropdown is measured from the adapter tip to the end of the grip, with no head on it. The standard length option for your brand is that brand's stock length, so for half an inch shorter, pick a custom length half an inch under that number. If you'd rather tell us the finished playing length you want, contact us with your head model and we'll work out the tip-to-grip number, since the head adds length (about an inch on most drivers).

Can I use this in a fairway wood?

Yes. Choose the fairway wood option and your adapter when you add it to the cart. Most golfers go one series heavier in the fairway than in the driver, so a Red 6 driver player usually ends up with a Red 7 or 8 in the 3 wood. The 8 S and 8 X suit 3 woods and 5 woods where you want a high, carrying flight, and the 9 X is the 7 wood and 9 wood shaft.
