WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Fujikura Motore X is one shaft name with two profiles. The F3 has a low-mid bend point and launches mid-high with mid spin, and the F1 has a mid-high bend point and launches low-mid with low-mid spin, so you pick the flight first and the weight second. Both are built on a multi-material core with full-length 40-ton carbon fiber, and the paint is a lightweight process that saves up to 6 g, so more of the weight you're holding is structure. You pick from 10 options, F3 5 R2 to F1 8 X, and it arrives with your adapter tip and grip installed, cut to length, ready to screw into your driver or fairway wood.

Not sure Motore X is your profile? Take the 2-Minute Shaft Quiz or see where it sits in The Fujikura Shaft Guide.

Who It's For

Good fit if you...

  • Know whether you need more height or less, and want a shaft that lets you choose the flight by profile instead of by guesswork
  • Played an original Motore F1 or F3 years ago and want the current version of that shaft in a new head
  • Have an aggressive swing but find a Ventus too firm, and want 40-ton carbon with a smoother load
  • Want it built to your specs and ready to play the day it arrives

Not the right fit if you...

  • Want the tightest dispersion on off-center hits. That's the VeloCore+ core in the Ventus Blue
  • Need something lighter than 57 g or a ladies flex. The Vista Pro 45 and 55 series are the lighter, higher-launching choice
  • Need a TX flex. The Motore X we build runs R2 to X
  • Build your own clubs and just want the raw shaft. Grab the uncut Motore X and save the build time

How It Plays

Two profiles, one name. The F3 bends lower in the shaft, so the tip releases and the ball climbs: mid-high launch, mid spin. The F1 bends higher, closer to your hands, so the tip stays quieter and the ball comes off flatter: low-mid launch, low-mid spin. Same materials, same feel in the handle. The number after the letter is the weight series, and the only place the two overlap is the 7 series.

Smooth load, stable finish. The 40-ton carbon in the core is what you feel at the bottom of the swing. The shaft bends easily through transition, then stiffens up where it counts so the head arrives square. If a Ventus has felt like a board to you, this is the Fujikura with 40-ton carbon and a friendlier load.

Torque tracks the profile. The F3 runs from 5.2 degrees in the 5 R2 down to 3.9 in the 7 X, and the F1 from 4.1 in the 6 S to 3.3 in the 8 X. Even the lightest F3 isn't loose, and the F1 8 X is as tight as anything in the Pro line.

Before you pick your options

  • Profile before weight. If your driver flight is low and you're losing carry, you want the F3. If it balloons or spins up into the wind, you want the F1. Decide that first, then match the weight to the shaft in your driver now.
  • R2 and R live in the F3 5 series only. At 57 to 59 g with the softest tip in the lineup, the F3 5 is the senior and regular flex choice. Everything in the F1 is S or X, and the F1 8 X at 85 g is a fairway or mini driver weight.
  • Length is measured adapter tip to grip. The number you pick is the shaft assembly with no head on it. Choose the standard length option for your brand and you get that brand's stock playing length. For a custom length, remember the head adds roughly an inch, so a driver you want to play at 45.25" is about a 44.25" tip-to-grip build. Every half inch you take off costs about three swingweight points, so if you go shorter than stock, tell us and we can add tape under the grip or you can plan a heavier head weight.

Graphite. Raw length 46" before we cut it, parallel tip section 2.5", tip diameter 0.335" (our measurement; the tip diameter isn't on Fujikura's chart). Tip flex and butt flex are Fujikura's stiffness ratings; within a model, the stiffer flex has the lower number.

How the Motore X Profiles Compare

Profile Launch Spin Bend Point Weights Builds We Make
Motore X F3 (You're here) Mid-high Mid Low-mid 57 to 77 g 5 R2, 5 R, 5 S, 7 S, 7 X
Motore X F1 (You're here) Low-mid Low-mid Mid-high 68 to 85 g 6 S, 6 X, 7 S, 7 X, 8 X

Both profiles are on this listing; pick the one you want from the dropdown. Launch, spin and bend point are Fujikura's ratings. Fujikura publishes no swing speed range for the Motore X, so we don't print one. Want the same two-profile idea with Fujikura's Advanced Bend Profile instead? That's the assembled Pro Blue and Pro Black. The whole brand lineup is in The Fujikura Shaft Guide.

Prefer to Build It Yourself?

The same shaft is available uncut with nothing installed: the Fujikura Motore X Driver & Fairway Shaft, in every profile, weight and flex on this page. Pair it with an adapter from our OEM shaft adapters and you're set. See every assembled shaft we build, or browse all driver and fairway shafts.

Frequently Asked Questions

I have an aggressive swing. What does the Motore X give me over a Ventus Black?

Mostly feel and price. The Ventus Black is the lower, flatter shaft, and its VeloCore+ core is built to keep the face square on a mishit, but it plays firm, and if you don't load it hard it can feel like a board. The Motore X F1 is built on 40-ton carbon and loads more smoothly, so a fast swing with a slightly uneven tempo gets most of the flight benefit without fighting the shaft. It costs a good deal less, too. If you find the center of the face and want a forgiving load, the F1 is the pick. If your misses are your problem, pay for the Ventus.

I played a Fujikura F1 55 S in an old Cobra driver. What's the closest thing now?

The Motore X F1 is the current version of that profile, and it's what we've pointed golfers to when this question has come in. The catch is weight: the lightest F1 we build is the 6 S at 68 g. If the 55 g weight matters more to you than the low-spin profile, the F3 5 S at 59 g is closer to what you had in your hands, and the flight will be a little higher. Either way, pick your new head's adapter from the dropdown, and choose the standard length option for that brand if you want it built to that brand's stock length.

I want it half an inch shorter than stock. What length do I order?

Our length dropdown is measured from the adapter tip to the end of the grip, with no head on it. The standard length option for your brand is that brand's stock length, so for half an inch shorter, pick a custom length half an inch under that number. If you'd rather tell us the finished playing length you want, contact us with your head model and we'll work out the tip-to-grip number, since the head adds length (about an inch on most drivers).

Can I use this in a fairway wood?

Yes. Choose the fairway wood option and your adapter when you add it to the cart. The 7 series in either profile makes a good 3 wood for a golfer who plays a 60-something gram driver shaft, and the F1 8 X is the heavy, low-spin option for a 3 wood you hit off the tee a lot. The F3 5 series works in a 5 or 7 wood for a slower swing that needs help getting it up off the turf.

I'm left-handed. Is anything different about the build?

Nothing about the shaft itself. It isn't handed, and the specs and performance are identical. The only difference is the adapter: some brands make a separate left-handed sleeve, and we install the right one for your head. Just pick your brand and we'll take it from there.

Not sure which shaft is right for your game?

Text our shaft experts at (818) 473-9086 before you order. We've been fitting golfers since 1991 and are happy to talk through your swing speed, current shaft, and what you're trying to fix.
