WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Golf Pride MCC ALIGN Max Midsize is the MCC with the biggest ridge Golf Pride makes down the back: about 25% taller than the regular ALIGN, firmer, and longer, so there's no missing where your hands sit. The grip itself is firmer and smoother than the regular ALIGN too. Brushed cotton cord in the upper hand, rubber in the lower hand, with a traditional taper. It fits hands 7.6" to 9" (men's L or XL glove), weighs 62 g, and comes in grey.

Not sure of your size? Measure from the crease of your wrist to the tip of your middle finger, then check our grip size guide.

Who It's For

Good fit if you...

  • Have hands 7.6" to 9", or wear a men's L or XL glove
  • Tried the regular ALIGN and wanted a more prominent reminder under your fingers
  • Want a firmer grip with a smoother surface than the regular ALIGN
  • Choke up or down on the club a lot. The longer ridge keeps the landmark under your fingers wherever you hold it.
  • Play in heat, humidity or rain. The cord top keeps its bite when your glove gets damp.

Not the right fit if you...

  • Have hands under 7.6". Grab the MCC ALIGN Max Standard instead.
  • Have hands over 9". ALIGN Max with a classic taper stops at midsize; look at the MCC Plus4 ALIGN Max Jumbo.
  • Want a ridge you notice less. The regular MCC ALIGN Midsize has a lower, shorter one.
  • Want the Max ridge with a built-up lower hand. That's the MCC Plus4 ALIGN Max Midsize.
  • Open or close the face on purpose: flighted wedges, held-off fades, that kind of thing. A ridge this prominent can get in the way; the regular ALIGN or a round grip is easier to work.
  • Like to rotate the grip to set a stronger or weaker hand position. That's the round MCC Midsize.

How It Plays

The ridge is the point. It's about 25% taller than the regular ALIGN, firmer, and runs farther down the grip. You feel it in both hands right away, and it keeps telling you where square is even when you grip down for a knockdown. If the regular ALIGN felt like a hint, this one feels like a handrail.

Built in two pieces. Most grips come out of a single mold. The ALIGN Max ridge is molded on its own and then compressed into the grip body, which is why it holds its shape and feels firm instead of soft and rounded. It also makes the grip body firmer and the surface smoother than the regular ALIGN, which plays a touch softer.

Classic MCC shape, cord on top. Traditional taper, so the grip narrows toward the bottom the way most golfers are used to. Brushed cotton cord in the upper hand pulls moisture away and holds on when it's humid; the lower hand is rubber.

Easier to install than the regular ALIGN. The Max ridge is firmer and molded as its own piece, so the grip slides on with less pressure and the ridge doesn't fold or wander on the way down. Push on the end cap only, in one motion, with a little extra solvent so you have time to check it. Set the club on the ground and sight down the ridge against the leading edge before the solvent flashes off, and give it 3 to 4 hours before you hit balls. Match it on every club. At 62 g it's a touch lighter than the regular MCC ALIGN Midsize, so swingweight doesn't change if you switch.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is ALIGN Max different from regular ALIGN?

Three things. The ridge is about 25% taller, firmer and longer, so you feel it more and it stays under your fingers when you choke down. The grip body is firmer with a smoother surface; the regular ALIGN is a touch softer. And it's built in two pieces, with the ridge molded separately and compressed into the body.

Is it harder to install than regular ALIGN?

Easier, actually. The firmer ridge takes less pressure to slide on and doesn't fold over. Push on the end cap, not the ridge, use a little extra solvent, and check it against the leading edge before it dries.

Will the ridge get in the way of shaping shots?

It can. If you open the face for a flop or hold it off for a fade, a ridge this prominent is a constant reminder that you're off square. Golfers who play those shots a lot usually prefer the regular ALIGN or a round grip on their wedges.

Is the ridge legal for tournament play?

Yes, installed straight along the back of the grip. Golf Pride builds ALIGN to conform to the Rules of Golf. A crooked install is where you can run into trouble.

Can I install it on an adjustable driver?

Yes, but set your hosel first. Every time you change loft or face angle, the grip rotates with the shaft and the ridge is no longer square.

Will it fit my graphite shafts?

Yes. The 60 core fits any shaft with a standard 0.600" butt, steel or graphite.
