WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Fujikura Speeder NX Gold is the flatter of the two current Speeder NX profiles. A stiffened mid section brings launch down to mid and spin down to low-mid from the 50 series up while keeping the feel as the shaft loads. The 40 series is the exception, rated mid-high launch and mid spin for slower swings, and the 70 S goes low-mid launch with low spin. This is the raw shaft: 46" uncut, 3.0" parallel tip, 0.335" tip diameter, in 11 weight and flex options from a 40 R2 at 44 g to a 70 S at 72 g. If you build your own clubs or have a shop you trust, this is the listing you want.

Not sure NX Gold is your profile? Take the 2-Minute Shaft Quiz or compare every Fujikura model in The Fujikura Shaft Guide.

Who It's For

Good fit if you...

  • Launch it high enough already and want the flight flatter with less spin, without leaving the Speeder family
  • Swing somewhere around 80 to 105 mph and want a mid launch with the spin under control
  • Want a light shaft with a stiffer middle: the range here runs 44 to 72 g
  • Build your own clubs or have a fitter who'll cut, tip and install it for you

Not the right fit if you...

  • Need help getting the ball up. The NX Violet is rated mid-high launch in every weight
  • Want the lowest launch and spin you can get, with a high bend point. That's the 2026 Ventus TR Black, not a Speeder
  • Want it cut to length with the adapter and grip already on, ready to screw into your driver. Order the assembled NX Gold instead

How It Plays

Mid launch, low-mid spin, and the mid section does the work. The 50 and 60 series carry a mid bend point with mid launch and low-mid spin. Up at the 70 S, the bend point moves to mid-high and the ratings drop to low-mid launch and low spin. The 40 series is the one that plays differently: low bend point, mid spin, mid-high launch, so a slower swing still gets the ball up. Torque runs from 5.8 in the 40 to 2.8 in the 70.

Torque tuned along the shaft, not one number end to end. Variable Torque Core is the build behind every Speeder NX, and it means what it sounds like: the twisting stiffness of the core is tuned differently in different sections of the shaft instead of being set once for the whole thing. You won't see it on the chart, which only lists one torque number for each weight; the tuning is in the layup. In your hands it's a Speeder that still loads through the middle without the loose, whippy feel a lighter shaft can have.

Gold against Violet. Same family, two jobs. The Violet launches mid-high in every weight and tightens torque in the tip and butt. The Gold stiffens the mid section instead, and that's what takes the height and spin off. If you were fitted into a Violet and the ball still climbs more than you'd like, the Gold in the same weight and flex is the first move we'd make before touching the loft again.

Picking a weight and flex, and what to tip

  • Weight before flex. The 40 series is 44 to 47 g, the 50 is 50.5 to 55, the 60 is 60.5 to 63.5 and the 70 S is 72. Match the weight to the shaft you play now first, then pick flex. When you want more stability, go up a series before you go up a flex.
  • The 40 series plays differently. It's rated mid-high launch and mid spin with a low bend point, so it's the Gold for a slower swing that still needs height. We stock it in R2, SR and S. If you want the mid launch and low-mid spin the Gold is known for, start at the 50 series.
  • Tip trimming. Fujikura's chart is 0" for a driver or 3 wood, 0.5" for a 5 wood, 1.0" for a 7 wood and 1.5" for a 9 wood, and every inch you tip is roughly one flex stiffer. The chart is a set of suggestions, and it doesn't call for tipping a driver or 3 wood shaft. Want to sit between S and X in a 5 wood? Tip 0.5" and butt trim to length.
  • Adjustable hosel? You'll need an adapter. The 0.335" tip fits every current driver and fairway adapter. Pick one up from our shaft adapters, or let us install it for you on the assembled version.

Launch, spin, bend point and torque are Fujikura's ratings, shown by weight series. The NX Gold and NX Violet rows come from Fujikura's current chart. The NX Blue and NX Green are earlier generations that aren't on that chart, so their rows are carried from our earlier listings. Fujikura doesn't publish a swing speed range for Speeder NX. The whole brand lineup is in The Fujikura Shaft Guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I buy the NX Gold or the NX Green?

The Gold, unless you already play a Green. It's the one on Fujikura's current chart, with the stiffened mid section, and it goes down to 44 g in the 40 R2. The NX Green is the earlier shaft and we carry it in the options we still have, so it's the pick when you want a spare or a fairway version built the same as the one in your bag.

Does it work in a fairway wood?

Yes. Most golfers go one series heavier in the fairway than in the driver, so a 60 S driver player usually ends up with the 70 S in the 3 wood. Follow Fujikura's tip trim chart above for 5 woods and up.

I'm between S and X in the 60. Which way do I go?

Go by your transition, not just your speed. A quick, aggressive move from the top wants the X. A smooth tempo at the same speed is happier in the S. The Gold's stiffer mid section already adds stability, so don't go up a flex just to get more of it. Go up in weight instead.

Does this come with a grip or adapter?

No. This listing is the bare 46" shaft, nothing installed, nothing cut. If you want it ready to screw into your head, order the assembled NX Gold instead and choose your adapter, length and grip at checkout.
