🚫 No Returns or Refunds on Assembled Shafts
Please note that all assembled shaft orders are final. Due to the custom nature of this process, we do not accept returns or offer refunds on any assembled shafts. Each order is built to your specifications, and once assembly begins, we are unable to restock or resell the components.
We encourage you to double-check all specs (flex, length, grip, adapter, etc.) before placing your order. If you need help confirming details, our team is happy to assist before you check out.
Returns can be made on non-personalized items and non-assembled items within the US, 60 days after you've received the original order. Items are only accepted on unopened and unused products. Items must be returned in the original packaging.
INTERNATIONAL RETURNS
We do not accept any international returns at this time.
At Grips4less, we strive to provide a smooth international shopping experience. To ensure clarity regarding shipping, duties, and returns, please review our policy below:
Duties, Taxes, and Import Fees
- International orders may be subject to duties, taxes, and import fees imposed by your country. These charges are the customer's responsibility and are determined by local customs authorities.
- If duties and taxes are not paid upon delivery, the carrier may be unable to complete the shipment and may return the package to us.
Refused or Unpaid Shipments
- If an international order is refused or the required duties/taxes remain unpaid, the carrier may return the package to us.
- In such cases, customers will be responsible for all shipping costs, including outbound and return shipping fees.
- Refunds for returned shipments will be issued minus all incurred shipping fees.
Lost or Delayed Shipments
- Once an international order has shipped, we are not responsible for delays caused by customs processing or other carrier-related issues.
- If a package is significantly delayed, we encourage customers to contact their local customs office or the carrier for more information.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The Fujikura Air Speeder with the 2020 graphics is the earlier version of Fujikura's ultralight driver and fairway shaft. It's a high-launch, mid-spin shaft with a low bend point, built so golfers with slower swings can pick up club speed without swinging harder. This is the raw shaft: 46" uncut, 2.95" parallel tip, 0.335" tip diameter, and we carry it in one option, the 45 Series R2 at 44.5 g. If you build your own clubs or have a shop you trust, this is the listing you want.
Not sure a lightweight shaft is the answer? Take the 2-Minute Shaft Quiz or compare every model in The Fujikura Shaft Guide.
This is the earlier Air Speeder, with the 2020 graphics. The current version is the 2025 Air Speeder, a redesign Fujikura aimed at more swing speed, more ball speed and a higher peak, sold in four flexes from R3 to S. This page is the previous run, the silver finish with the red Air Speeder logo, and the one build we have left in it is the R2. If you need an R3, R or S, the 2025 page is where to go.
Who It's For
Good fit if you...
- Swing a driver around 60 to 70 mph and want more carry from a higher peak height
- Want a senior flex at 44.5 g that loads without any effort
- Are matching a fairway wood to a driver that already has the 2020 Air Speeder in it
- Build your own clubs or have a fitter who'll cut, tip and install it for you
Not the right fit if you...
- Swing faster than about 75 mph. The R2 is a senior flex and it will feel loose. The 2025 Air Speeder has the R and S
- Need an R3. The 2025 Air Speeder carries it, and it's the lightest of the four
- Want a light shaft with less twist and a steadier face through impact. That's the Ventus White
- Want it cut to length with the adapter and grip already on. Order the assembled 2020 Air Speeder instead
How It Plays
Light enough to change your club speed. At 44.5 g the shaft gets out of the way, and that's where the extra club speed comes from for a 60 to 70 mph swing. You don't swing harder. The club just moves faster because there's less of it to move.
High launch, mid spin, low bend point. The bend point sits low, so the shaft helps the ball up without piling on spin. Torque is 8.5 with a tip flex of 156 and a butt flex of 122 on Fujikura's scale, which is soft and forgiving by any shaft's standard. That's the point. At this swing speed you want the shaft to load for you, and a stiffer shaft would just feel like a board.
Picking it, and what to tip
- It's one option, so the question is whether R2 is your flex. Our fitting guidance for the R2 is a driver swing speed of about 60 to 70 mph. Under 60, look at the R3 on the 2025 page. Over 70, look at the R.
- Adapter needed for an adjustable hosel. The 0.335" tip fits every current driver and fairway sleeve in our shaft adapters. Epoxy it yourself, or order the assembled listing and we install it set to your hosel setting.
- Tip trimming. Fujikura's chart is 0" for a driver or 3 wood, 0.5" for a 5 wood, 1.0" for a 7 wood and 1.5" for a 9 wood, and every inch you tip plays roughly one flex stiffer. Those are suggestions only, and the chart doesn't recommend tipping a driver or 3 wood shaft at all. With a 2.95" parallel section, 1.5" for a 9 wood is as far as it goes.
Specifications
| Model | Flex | Weight (g) | Tip Flex | Butt Flex | Torque | Butt Dia. | Bend Pt. | Spin | Launch |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Air Speeder 40 (2020 graphics) | R2 | 44.5 | 156 | 122 | 8.5 | 0.595 | Low | Mid | High |
Graphite. Raw length 46", parallel tip section 2.95", tip diameter 0.335" (our measurement; Fujikura doesn't print tip diameter). Tip flex and butt flex are Fujikura's stiffness ratings; within a model, the stiffer flex has the lower number. Fujikura printed 40 on this model; the FAQ below explains why our dropdown calls it the 45 Series.
Specs carried from our previous listing; Fujikura's current chart covers the 2025 version.
How the Lightweight Fujikura Shafts Compare
| Shaft | Launch | Spin | Bend Point | Weight | Flexes We Sell | Our Speed Guide |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Air Speeder 2020 graphics (You're here) | High | Mid | Low | 44.5 g | R2 | About 60 to 70 mph |
| Air Speeder 2025 | High | Mid | Low | 40.5 to 48 g | R3, R2, R, S | Up to 90 mph |
| Sakura 40 | High | Mid-high | Low | 47.5 g | One lite flex | Under 75 mph |
| Ventus White | High | Mid-high | Low | 49.5 g | R2, R, S | 70 to 95 mph |
Launch, spin and bend point are Fujikura's ratings. The speed column is our fitting guidance from building these for customers, not a Fujikura number. Want a light shaft with the VeloCore+ core, a multi-material bias core that keeps the tip from twisting on off-center hits? That's the Ventus White. The whole brand lineup is in The Fujikura Shaft Guide.
