WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Fujikura Ventus Red with VeloCore+ is the mid-high launch, mid-spin shaft in the Ventus family, the one to reach for when you want more height and carry without giving up the stability the whole line is built on. The tip is stiff, the midsection is firm and the handle is ultra-stiff, close to the Blue's profile flipped end for end, so it releases a little more down by the head while the butt end stays quiet at the top. This is the raw shaft: 46" uncut, 3.0" parallel tip, 0.335" tip diameter, in 11 weight and flex options from a 5 R2 to a 9 X. If you build your own clubs or have a shop you trust, this is the listing you want.

Not sure Red is your profile? Take the 2-Minute Shaft Quiz or compare every profile in our Fujikura Ventus Shaft Guide.

Who It's For

Good fit if you...

  • Swing a driver somewhere between 70 and 105 mph and want more height and carry than a mid-launch shaft gives you
  • Launch it low, or watch drives fall out of the sky short of the carry number you need
  • Play a stock regular-flex shaft now and want your first real aftermarket Ventus without jumping to a stiffer profile
  • Build your own clubs or have a fitter who'll cut, tip and install it for you

Not the right fit if you...

  • Already launch it high or see too much spin. The Ventus Blue brings spin down, and the Ventus Black takes launch down with it
  • Swing under about 70 mph or want the lightest shaft you can get. The Ventus White is 49.5 g and launches higher still
  • Want it cut to length with the adapter and grip already on, ready to screw into your driver. Order the assembled Ventus Red instead

How It Plays

Height without the loose feel. Most shafts that launch high get there with a soft handle, and you pay for it with a shot that starts left or right when your timing is off. The Red does the opposite. The ultra-stiff handle keeps the butt end from loading too hard through transition, and the low bend point lets the shaft do its work down near the head. You get the launch, and the face still arrives square.

Mid-high launch and mid spin, with one wrinkle. The Red 5, 6 and 7 are the mid-high launch shafts with a low bend point. The Red 8 and 9 move to a low-mid bend point and a mid launch, which makes sense once you know those weights live in fairway woods, where a little less height is usually what you want. Every option is rated mid spin.

The core is the whole point. VeloCore+ is a multi-material bias core that runs the full length of the shaft and keeps the tip from twisting on heel and toe hits. On a higher-launch shaft that matters more, not less, because an active tip is exactly the kind that wants to twist. The plus version adds another core material over the original VeloCore, and the goal is the same: tighter dispersion and a little more ball speed on the hits that aren't flush.

Picking a weight and flex, and what to tip

  • Weight before flex. The Red 5 is 59 to 59.5 g, the Red 6 is 67 to 67.5 g and the Red 7 is 77.5 to 78 g. If your current driver shaft is in the 50s, start with the Red 5. Low 60s, the Red 6. When you want more stability, go up a series before you go up a flex, because the heavier shaft calms the head without making the whole club feel stiff.
  • R2 or R in the 5 series. The 5 R2 is a softer regular, made for a smooth tempo in the high 70s to mid 80s. From the mid 80s up, the 5 R is the better starting point, and a quick transition at 90 or so belongs in the 5 S.
  • The 8 and 9 series are fairway weights. At 85 to 94.5 g they're built for 3 woods and 5 woods, with the 9 X for 7 woods and 9 woods. Those are also the options that drop to a mid launch, so don't expect them to fly like the Red 6 does in your driver.
  • Tip trimming. Fujikura's chart is 0" for a driver or 3 wood, 0.5" for a 5 wood, 1.0" for a 7 wood and 1.5" for a 9 wood, and every inch you tip is roughly one flex stiffer. The chart calls those suggestions, and Fujikura doesn't generally recommend tipping a driver or 3 wood shaft at all. Want to sit between R and S? Tip 0.5" and butt trim to length.

Graphite. Raw length 46", parallel tip section 3.0", tip diameter 0.335" (our measurement; the tip diameter isn't on Fujikura's chart). Tip flex and butt flex are Fujikura's stiffness ratings; within a model, the stiffer flex has the lower number.

Ventus White High Mid-high Low Firm / Medium / Soft 49.5 g 70 to 95 mph

Launch, spin, bend point and section stiffness are Fujikura's ratings. The speed column is our fitting guidance from building these for customers, not a Fujikura number. Want the Red flight with Spread Tow fabric in the mid and handle for a quicker transition? That's the 2026 Ventus TR Red. The whole brand lineup is in The Fujikura Shaft Guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between this Ventus Red, the original Ventus Red and the Ventus TR Red?

Three generations of the same idea. The original Ventus Red introduced the VeloCore bias core that keeps the tip from twisting. This page is its replacement, with the VeloCore+ core that adds another material to the mix. The 2026 Ventus TR Red takes the VeloCore+ core and adds Spread Tow carbon fabric in the mid and handle, which cuts twist during transition and brings spin down a notch to mid-low. If you have a quick move from the top and tend to lose the head, the TR is worth a look. For most golfers who want the Red flight, this one is the right shaft.

Is this the same Ventus Red that came stock in my driver?

Probably not. Most stock "Ventus Red" shafts that ship in OEM drivers are made-for versions without VeloCore, and they play softer and spin more than this one. This is the full aftermarket shaft with VeloCore+. The launch window is similar, but the face stays a lot steadier on the hits you don't catch in the middle.

Do I need an adapter to use this shaft?

Only if your driver or fairway has an adjustable hosel, which most do. The 0.335" tip fits every current adapter, and you can pick one up from our shaft adapters. If you'd rather not epoxy it yourself, the assembled listing includes the adapter and the install.

Which Red goes in my 3 wood?

Go one series heavier than your driver. A Red 6 driver player usually ends up with a Red 7 or 8 in the 3 wood, and the 8 S and 8 X are the ones we'd point you to if the 3 wood is a club you hit off the deck a lot. No tip trim for a 3 wood. For a 5 wood and up, follow Fujikura's chart in the callout above.

Does this come with a grip or adapter?

No. This listing is the bare 46" shaft, nothing installed, nothing cut. If you want it ready to screw into your head, order the assembled Ventus Red instead and choose your adapter, length and grip at checkout.
