The Project X HZRDUS Black Gen 4 is a low-launch, low-spin driver shaft built on the classic HZRDUS Black profile: a stiff butt, x-stiff midsection and stiff tip, made for an aggressive swing. Project X's Dual Torsional Design runs the full length of the shaft to fine-tune torque and add stability through impact. It arrives assembled with your choice of adapter and grip, ready to attach to your driver or fairway wood head.

How It Plays
Project X rates the Gen 4 Black low launch, low spin and fast tempo. The stiff tip keeps the head from kicking up through impact, and the x-stiff midsection is the stiffest part of the shaft, which keeps it stable for players who put a lot of force into the downswing.
Dual Torsional Design is the Gen 4 update. Project X describes it as a process that lets its engineers set stability and torque more precisely for each weight and flex. Torque drops as the shaft gets heavier and stiffer, from 4.2 in the 60 series 5.5 down to 2.4 in every TX build.
Choose the 60, 70 or 80 series to set the weight, from 61 g up to 86 g raw.

Hi, I'm fitting this shaft to a TaylorMade SIM2 Max 10.5° driver. I would like the finished playing length to be exactly 45.0 inches (USGA measurement with the head installed). Could you please advise what adapter-tip-to-grip length I should select in your order form to achieve that finished playing length? I would also like: TaylorMade adapter 70 Series / 6.0 Stiff Thanks.
Hi,
To get the correct adapter tip to grip length for your order, you would need the BBGM ( Bottom of Bore to Ground Measurement) of your TaylorMade SIM2 Max 10.5° driver and then subtract that from your playing length. For example :
BBGM 1.50" Adapter Tip-to-Grip 44.50" Finished Playing Length 45.00" -
What's the launch and spin?
The HZRDUS Black Gen 4 is a low launch, low spin driver shaft built for players with fast swing speeds and aggressive tempos who need to control ball flight and keep spin down. It uses Dual Torsional Design — a construction process that allows Project X to achieve its desired torque and torsional stability without the harsh, boardy feel that earlier HZRDUS Black generations were known for. The result is a shaft that delivers the signature HZRDUS stability profile but with a noticeably smoother, more solid feel than Gen 1 through RDX. Available in 60, 70, and 80 series weights across multiple flexes from 5.5 through TX.

How does this shaft compare to TENSEI 1K Black?
TENSEI 1K Black is Mitsubishi's most aggressive low-launch, low-spin driver shaft — often described as the closest Mitsubishi equivalent to Ventus Black in terms of profile intent. Compared to HZRDUS Black Gen 4, the 1K Black is generally described as smoother and more refined in feel, with less perceptible kick through the swing. HZRDUS Black Gen 4 has a slightly more active feel and a bit more energy through transition. Both are built for fast swingers needing low spin. If you prefer a shaft that feels smooth and gets out of the way, lean toward 1K Black. If you want more feedback and a shaft you can feel working, lean toward HZRDUS Black Gen 4.

What flex and weight should I choose?
As a general starting point: Senior flex range is around 72-83mph, Regular flex suits swing speeds between 84-96mph, Stiff suits 97–104 mph, and X-Stiff is typically above that. However, flex alone doesn't tell the whole story - tempo, transition aggressiveness, and launch needs all factor in. Doing a full fitting can be tremendously helpful.
