Questions & Answers

Have a Question?

Ask a Question
  • I have one graphite shaft .555 inside Diameter and one metal shaft .570 inside Diameter. I measured Diameters with a Dial vernier caliper. Should I order one silver and one black or one black and one purple?

We usually recommend going a little higher, and then sanding down to make it a secure fit, so that would be the Silver and Black.

  • What size of graphite shaft extension for Driver and 3 woods

Measure the INSIDE diameter (ID) of the butt end of the shaft first to determine what size extender you need. Normally shaft manufacturers do not publish this information in their specifications. We highly recommend using the Gauge Shaft Measuring Tool (sold separately) first to find this measurement. Due to slight variations in shaft diameters, you will likely need to apply light sanding to the shaft extension to achieve a suitable fit (and this will also help the epoxy achieve a more secure hold.

  • How long are these ?

The "insertion" part is 2" and the "extension" part is 3".

Please note: Because of Leverage and Torque extremes placed on Graphite Shafts and extensions, a Maximum length for the extension of 1-1/2” is recommended for Extra Stiff Shafts, 2” for Stiff Shafts, 2-1/2” for Regular and Seniors, and 3” for Ladies.             *- 24 Hour Epoxy is strongly advised.

  • What material are these made from?

These are made from nylon blended plastic.

  • Any of these work for a stability tour putter shaft?

When installed correctly, there should be no stability issues and can be used for any clubs.

  • what size shaft extender does project x catalyst 5.5 require

    Hi Steve,

Based on our measurement, the shaft extension you sould use is the .5075 Orange https://www.grips4less.com/collections/club-building-supplies/products/shaft-extenders-for-graphite-and-steel-shafts?variant=7221705537

    Thank you,

DESCRIPTION

The Premium Graphite Shaft Extensions take the guess work and labor out of installing extensions. Available in 14 different sizes, they eliminate the considerable time needed to sand or modify "one size fits all" extensions. These durable extensions can also be used to extend steel shafts and be safely extended at longer lengths than normal extensions. The Premium Extensions can safely be extended 3" for ladies and senior shafts, 2 1/2" for regular shafts and a maximum of 2" for stiff and x-stiff shafts. Each extension is color coded for easy selection.

Use the Premium Extension Gauge to quickly and easily identify the exact color/size extension you need for your shaft.

Features:

  • Extremely strong lightweight nylon can safely be extended at longer lengths.
  • Butt diameter of extension is .600".
  • Available in 14 diameters ranging from .470" to .575"
  • 14 distinct sizes eliminates the need for sanding to ensure durability
  • Can be used in steel shafts (Purple .560", Black .580" and Silver .600)
  • Parallel Flute Design provides for maximum surface contact requiring minimal epoxy
  • Extension gauge available to ensure proper extension selection (GW4000G)

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Shaft extensions for graphite and steel shafts
  • Determine the inside shaft diameter you need with the Gauge Tool (sold separately)
  • Manufactured from durable nylon blended plastic
  • Light sanding is recommended (before applying epoxy) and also may be needed to achieve a suitable fit
  • Epoxy sold separately here.
  • Note: Sold in single pieces (not as a set) - choose from 15 different sizes
  • Made by Parage Golf

HOW TO USE

1) First measure the INSIDE diameter (ID) of the butt end of the shaft (not the outside). This will determine the size extension you need. Use the Gauge Tool (sold separately) for this.

2) When the gauge stops naturally, identify the last color dot that was inserted into the shaft (see color chart description). Choose the appropriate size extension.

3) Due to slight variations in shaft diameters, you will likely need to apply light sanding to the shaft extension to achieve a suitable fit. This will also help the epoxy achieve a more secure bond. IMPORTANT: Refer to Maximum sand down variables

4) Use high strength 24-hour shafting epoxy to secure the extension into butt end of the shaft. Extenders can be sanded down (generally no more than 0.020") to fit smaller openings.

5) After cured, then cut the extension to the desired length. Because of leverage and torque extremes placed on graphite shafts and extensions, a maximum extension length of of 1-1/2” is recommended for X-Stiff flex shafts, 2” for Stiff flex Shafts, 2-1/2” for Regular flex and Seniors flex shafts, and 3” for Ladies flex shafts. Please cut the extension to the appropriate length accordingly.

Additional Notes Regarding Extending Steel Shafts:

These extensions can be tricky because the sizing is important as well as the prep work. Here are the manufacturers directions:

First be sure you are using the correct size for steel.

~Steel Application - .575”extender = .600” Steel butt size, .560 extender
= .580” Steel butt size, .545 extender = .560 Steel butt size.

Measure the Interior Diameter (I.D.) of the Shaft to be Lengthened (or use
our Quick Guage®). Clean Interior of shaft at least 3 inches. Choose the
indicated size (or one size larger if loose). If the next size up is too large
lightly sand the fluted portion of the extender to fit snugly (optimal fit).

The following shows the maximum amount the various sizes can be sanded down to
overlap ID shaft wall sizes as shaft inner walls vary...

Note: The assumption here leaves the Flutes at a minimum depth of .05+ for
epoxy adhesion.

***Prepare the inside of the shaft by cleaning with alcohol, a paper towel or
thin lint free cloth (a suitable tool for scoring such as a hozel brush and/
or sandpaper is also recommended).

DO NOT use wax based solutions as found in modern grip installation solvents
to clean inside of the shaft!

Note: Always allow a few moments for the shaft to dry before beginning the
installation process.

Apply a thin layer of epoxy to the inside of the shaft butt. This step insures
that there are no voids in the glue when installed and promotes a stronger
bond when cured.

*24 hour (slow cure) high quality Epoxy is strongly recommended. When extending steel shafts stronger scoring of the interior of the shaft with
sandpaper and/or a hosel brush promotes better adhesion and is preferred.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Improperly installed extenders can cause parts of the club to come loose and fly off. This can cause damage, serious injury, or even death. If you are not sure on how to install extensions properly, please consult a local club-building professional prior installation.

As advertised

Arrived on time, appears good quality, easy installation, some minor sanding required as all graphite shafts may be slightly different. Very pleased!

Very good product, and delivered quickly so it was an excellent transaction!
Thanks very much.

Did exactly what I needed

I needed shaft extenders and measured the ID of my shafts using a caliper. The exact size I thought I needed was out of stock, so I bought the size smaller. Lo and behold, they were pretty much an exact fit and worked seamlessly. Happy ending!

Shaft extender

Was a perfect fit for my driver.

A Positive Experience

My order arrived quickly and accurately.
I carefully measured the inner and outer diameters of my club shafts and order the matching extension sizes. The recommended sizes fit perfectly. Using a sharp hacksaw, I cut each extension to my required length. I applied the adhesive, I bought separately, and slid the extensions on. I removed any excess adhesive with a paper towel wet with alcohol. The next day I installed the grips and again waited a day to swing them. They are perfect to my expectations.
