The Mitsubishi Vanquish (Blue) is an ultra-light driver shaft built to add clubhead speed. Mitsubishi developed it with input from LPGA Tour players, and it pairs a stable handle with a very active tip. Mitsubishi rates it high launch, mid+ spin. We sell the 3, 4 and 5 series, from about 36 to 59 grams. It arrives assembled with your choice of adapter and grip, ready to attach to your driver or fairway wood head.

How It Plays
Mitsubishi rates the Vanquish high launch, mid+ spin, with a flex profile of medium-plus butt, soft mid and soft tip and a mid/low kick point. Mitsubishi compares the idea to a fly-fishing rod: a stable handle with a very active tip section to speed up the clubhead.
Mitsubishi lists six design points: Amorphous Wire Technology for activity, Super Low Resin Content Prepreg for feel, 46 and 40 ton carbon fibers for strength and lower torque, a fortified tip section for stability, a Consistent Feel Design across weights and flexes, and tight weight and frequency tolerances. The Vanquish 3 is made in Japan.

Hi, what are the main differences between the Vanquish 4 R shaft and R2 shaft. I am assuming it depends on swing speed. I am 69 years old male w/ handicap of 11 and have a driving swing speed of approximately 80 - 85 mph. My average drive is about 225 yds. What would you suggest?

The main difference between the Vanquish 4 R2 and Vanquish 4 R is primarily the overall stiffness. The R2 is slightly softer and will generally help the shaft load and unload more easily, which can promote a little higher launch and make it easier to maximize distance. The R flex will feel a bit firmer and may provide slightly tighter dispersion for players with a faster swing speed or a more aggressive transition.
Based on the information you provided:
- Age: 69
- Handicap: 11
- Driver swing speed: 80–85 mph
- Average drive: 225 yards
I would recommend the Vanquish 4 R2 for most golfers with your profile. It should provide excellent feel, help optimize launch and carry, and still offer the stability that the Vanquish series is known for.
The only reason I would move to the R flex would be if you have a very quick or aggressive transition from the top of your swing and generally prefer a firmer-feeling shaft.

The 4/R series is a 48g shaft, the 5/R is a 55g shaft.
