WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The KBS PGI (Players Graphite Iron) was designed by KBS master shaft maker Kim Braly to give the tight tolerances, dispersion and control of KBS Tour steel in a lighter, easier-to-swing graphite shaft. This listing is the 0.370" parallel-tip version, a 41" single-length shaft in six weights from 50 g to 100 g, each with its own flex, in black matte.

Before you order: each shaft is one 41" length that gets tip- and butt-trimmed for the iron it goes in, and KBS notes that trimming can change how it plays. Order one per club, or let our Retrofit Service cut and install them.

Who It's For

Good fit if you...

  • Want graphite that plays with the control of a steel shaft
  • Want to choose by weight, from a light 50 g to a stout 100 g
  • Have irons with a 0.370" parallel-tip hosel
  • Are any level, from beginner to low handicap: KBS built the PGI to fit a wide range of players

Not the right fit if you...

  • Want a shaft made for each iron with no tip trimming: the PGI 0.355" comes in 70, 80 and 90 g taper tips
  • Want more launch and spin for a slower swing: look at the KBS Max Graphite 0.370"
  • Want graphite built on the KBS Tour steel EI curve: see the TGI 0.370"
  • Are not sure which tip your irons take: take the Iron Shaft Finder Quiz first

How It Plays

Steel-like control. KBS says the PGI holds the same tight tolerances, dispersion and control as the KBS Tour steel shaft, at a lighter weight that is easier to swing.

Weight sets the flex. KBS offers the PGI in 10 g steps, each with its own flex pattern: 50 g Lite/A, 60 g Regular, 70 g Regular+, 80 g Stiff, 90 g Stiff+ and 100 g X-Stiff.

Single length, trimmed to fit. The parallel PGI is one 41" length that is tip- and butt-trimmed to each iron. KBS lists it for the 1-iron to the pitching wedge, all in black matte.

Will It Fit Your Irons?

This shaft is for irons with a 0.370" parallel-tip hosel. It is a single-length shaft that is tip- and butt-trimmed for each iron, so order one shaft per club; KBS notes a 3-iron to PW set is 8 shafts. Trimming can change how the shaft plays, so follow KBS's trimming instructions or have it done for you.

Not sure which tip your irons take? Take the Iron Shaft Finder Quiz, or let us cut and install them with our Retrofit Service. For 0.355" taper-tip irons, get the PGI 0.355" instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which PGI weight should I choose?

The PGI has no separate flex option: each weight comes with its own flex, from 50 g Lite/A to 100 g X-Stiff. KBS does not publish a swing-speed chart for the PGI, so contact us or take the Iron Shaft Finder Quiz if you are unsure.

How much does it weigh?

KBS lists six weights: 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 and 100 g, before trimming.

Does trimming change how it plays?

Yes. KBS notes that the parallel PGI is tip- and butt-trimmed to length and that trimming can change how the shaft plays. Follow KBS's trimming instructions or use our Retrofit Service.

0.370" or 0.355" PGI?

The 0.370" is a single 41" length trimmed for each iron, in six weights. The 0.355" taper version is made for each iron and comes in 70, 80 and 90 g.

Why is the KBS label not on my shaft, and why does the black finish vary slightly?

KBS ships its shaft labels separately so they can be put on during club assembly and lined up properly, and a plain white factory SKU label may be on the shaft until then. Black KBS finishes are hand-sprayed, so small cosmetic differences from shaft to shaft are normal.

Questions & Answers

Have a Question?

Ask a Question
  • I'm looking for a 60g.kbs graphite shafts with a .355 tip. For a 6 iron and ,5 iron

The KBS Max 65 Graphite shaft is available in that tip size and length.

  • How do you know the flex of the shafts?

    Hi Ed,

Great question! For the KBS PGI (Players Graphite Iron) shafts, the flex is directly tied to the weight of the shaft. KBS designed this specific line so that as the shaft gets heavier, the flex profile naturally becomes stiffer.

Here is the weight-to-flex breakdown so you know exactly which one to choose:

    • 50g = Ladies Flex (L)

    • 60g = Senior / Amateur Flex (A)

    • 70g = Regular Flex (R)

    • 80g = Stiff Flex (S)

    • 90g = Stiff Plus Flex (S+)

    • 100g = Extra Stiff Flex (X)

When you are ready to order, simply select the weight that corresponds to your desired flex from the drop-down menu on the product page.

If you need any help deciding which weight/flex is right for your swing, just let us know!

    Best regards, The Grips4Less Team
