WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The KBS TD Graphite is KBS's original driver and fairway shaft, sorted into five flex categories from A (Category 1) to Tour X (Category 5), in weights from 40 to 80 grams. The flight follows the category: the A builds launch highest and the Tour X builds launch lowest. It arrives assembled with your choice of adapter and grip, ready to attach to your driver or fairway wood head.

Who It's For
Good fit if you...
- Want launch that comes down as the flex gets firmer
- Need a light build (the 40 g A and R weigh 46 to 47 g)
- Want a heavy, low-launch Tour X in 60, 70 or 80 g
- Like a black gloss finish, or white gloss on the 40 g builds
Not the right fit if you...
- Want KBS's current driver shaft (that's the TD 2.0)
- Want a published spin rating for each build
- Need an X or Tour X under 60 g
How It Plays
KBS sorts the TD into categories instead of plain flex letters. Category 1 is A flex, Category 2 is R, Category 3 is S, Category 4 is X and Category 5 is Tour X. In the spec table below, the kick point moves up and the trajectory comes down as the category goes up: Category 1 builds have a low kick point and high trajectory, Category 5 builds a high kick point and low trajectory.
Tip stiffness follows the same pattern, from soft on the A flex to stiff on the Tour X. Torque sits between 2.9 and 3.2 degrees on the 60 to 80 g builds and rises to 5.1 and 5.2 on the 40 g builds.
The finish depends on the build: black gloss on the 50, 60 and 70 g options, black matte on the 80 g and white gloss on the 40 g.

Questions & Answers
Have a Question?
-
KBS TD vs KBS Max HL, what's the difference and how do I choose?
The KBS TD and Max HL are for completely different players. TD is mid-launch/low-spin for players who want to control their ball flight. Max HL is high-launch/high-spin for players who need help getting the ball in the air. If you're losing distance because the ball climbs too high, TD. If your ball flight is too flat and you're not getting carry, Max HL. KBS graphite shafts are usually based on desired ball flight, so use that as your guide in picking.
-
What's the launch and spin?
Mid-launch, low-spin. The KBS TD graphite is optimized for tight dispersion and solid distance through reduced spin rather than higher launch. It has higher torque stiffness than comparable graphite options, which gives it a more planted feel at impact. If your current shaft is generating too much spin or feels too soft, this would be a good shaft to try.
-
What kind of player does the KBS TD Graphite suit?
Players who like the feel of steel but want to pick up some speed with graphite, that's where KBS graphite typically shines. The TD has a firmer, more responsive feel than most graphite driver shafts which comes from KBS's butt-to-tip energy transfer design. Mid-launch, low-spin. Consistent dispersion. If you've been put off by graphite in the past because it felt too whippy or vague, the TD is usually the shaft that can change your mind.
