WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Fujikura 2026 Ventus TR Red with VeloCore+ is the mid-high launch, mid-low spin profile in the Ventus TR family, and the one with the softest tip. It gets the ball up without turning into a loose, high-spin shaft: Spread Tow carbon fabric in the mid and handle cuts the twisting that happens through transition, and the VeloCore+ core keeps the tip from turning on off-center hits. This is the raw shaft: 46" uncut, 3.0" parallel tip, 0.335" tip diameter, in 10 weight and flex options from a 5 R2 to a 9 X. If you build your own clubs or have a shop you trust, this is the listing you want.

Who It's For

Good fit if you...

  • Launch it too low or come up short on carry, and want the shaft to help without adding a lot of spin
  • Have a smoother tempo and want a tip that works with you instead of waiting on you
  • Want a 7 wood or 9 wood shaft that gets high-lofted heads up and still holds its line
  • Build your own clubs or have a fitter who'll cut, tip and install it for you

Not the right fit if you...

  • Already launch it high or spin it too much. The TR Blue keeps the launch mid and the spin low
  • Want the lowest launch and spin in the TR line. That's the TR Black
  • Want it cut to length with the adapter and grip already on, ready to screw into your driver. Order the assembled TR Red instead

How It Plays

Launch help without the loose feel. Every option in the table is mid-high launch, mid-low spin. The tip is the softest in the TR line (6 S tip flex: Red 96, Blue 94, Black 87, and the number drops as the tip gets stiffer), so it loads early and gets the ball up. Bend point is mid in the 5, 6 and 7 S. The 7 X, 8 X and 9 X move it to mid-high, which keeps the heavier shafts from going soft.

Where it sits in the TR family. Blue is mid launch and low spin with a firmer tip, and Black is low and low with the firmest tip of the three. Red is the one you pick when the other two leave you short of carry. Spread Tow in the mid and handle is what separates it from a plain regular-flex shaft: the handle stays firm through transition, so the softer tip doesn't turn into a face you can't control.

The core is the whole point. VeloCore+ is a multi-material bias core that runs the length of the shaft and keeps the tip from twisting on off-center hits. The plus version adds another bias core material over the original VeloCore, and the goal is the same: tighter dispersion and a little more ball speed on the hits that aren't flush.

Picking a weight and flex, and what to tip

  • Weight before flex. Each series step adds about 8 to 10 g. If your current driver shaft is in the low 60s, start with the TR Red 5. High 60s, the 6. When you want more stability, go up a series before you go up a flex.
  • The 5 R2 is the softest shaft in the TR family. Tip flex 114 and butt flex 101, built for slower swings that still need the ball up. If that describes you, it's a good shaft. A smooth-tempo R flex player is better off in the 5 R, and a quick one in the 5 S.
  • The 8 X and 9 X are fairway weights. At 87 g and 96 g with a mid-high bend point, they're built for 3 woods and up. The 9 X is the one we'd put in a 7 or 9 wood that needs to launch.
  • Tip trimming. Fujikura's chart is 0" for a driver or 3 wood, 0.5" for a 5 wood, 1.0" for a 7 wood and 1.5" for a 9 wood, and every inch you tip is roughly one flex stiffer. Want to sit between S and X? Tip 0.5" and butt trim to length.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an adapter to use this shaft?

Only if your driver or fairway has an adjustable hosel, which most do. The 0.335" tip fits every current adapter, and you can pick one up from our shaft adapters. If you'd rather not epoxy it yourself, the assembled listing includes the adapter and the install.

How is the TR Red different from the standard Ventus Red?

Both are mid-high launch (the Ventus Red drops to mid in the 8 and 9 series), but the TR Red is rated mid-low spin against the Ventus Red's mid, and its bend point is mid where the Ventus Red's is low. In the 6 S the TR Red tip rates 96 against 100 on the Ventus Red, so it's a touch firmer in the tip, and the Spread Tow fabric in the mid and handle holds the handle steadier through transition. Same help getting the ball up, less of it turning into spin.

Does it work in a fairway wood?

Yes, and the 7 wood and 9 wood are where it shines. Most golfers go one series heavier in the fairway than in the driver, so a TR Red 5 driver player usually ends up with a 6 or 7 in the 3 wood and the 8 X or 9 X in the high-lofted ones. Follow Fujikura's tip trim chart above for 5 woods and up.

I'm between flexes. Which way do I go?

Go by your transition, not just your speed. A quick, aggressive move from the top wants the stiffer of the two. A smooth tempo at the same speed is happier in the softer one. The Red's tip is already the softest in the line, so if you're on the fence between S and X and you hit it high, take the X.

Does this come with a grip or adapter?

No. This listing is the bare 46" shaft, nothing installed, nothing cut. If you want it ready to screw into your head, order the assembled TR Red instead and choose your adapter, length and grip at checkout.
