WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Fujikura 2026 Ventus TR Black with VeloCore+ is the low-launch, low-spin profile in the Ventus TR family, and the firmest of the three by the numbers: the lowest tip and butt flex ratings in every series, and a high bend point on every option. Spread Tow carbon fabric in the mid and handle cuts the twisting that happens when you go hard from the top, and the VeloCore+ core keeps the tip from turning on the hits that aren't flush. This is the raw shaft: 46" uncut, 3.0" parallel tip, 0.335" tip diameter, in 8 options from a 5 S to a 9 X, S and X flex only. If you build your own clubs or have a shop you trust, this is the listing you want.

Not sure TR Black is your profile? Take the 2-Minute Shaft Quiz or compare every profile in our Fujikura Ventus Shaft Guide.

Who It's For

Good fit if you...

  • Launch it high and spin it too much even in a stiff shaft, and want the flight flattened out
  • Go hard from the top and feel softer shafts kick before you get to the ball
  • Play in wind a lot and want a boring flight that holds its line
  • Build your own clubs or have a fitter who'll cut, tip and install it for you

Not the right fit if you...

  • Already launch it low or struggle to carry it. The TR Blue keeps the spin low with a mid launch, and the TR Red launches higher still
  • Need an R or R2 flex. Black is S and X only, so look at the TR Blue 5 R and 6 R or the TR Red
  • Want it cut to length with the adapter and grip already on, ready to screw into your driver. Order the assembled TR Black instead

How It Plays

Low, flat and quiet off the face. Every option in the table is low launch, low spin, with a high bend point. There's no soft section anywhere to help the ball up, and that's the point. At speed, a shaft that kicks early sends the ball up and spinning. This one doesn't kick early. You get a penetrating flight and a face that stays where you left it.

Firmer than Blue where it counts. Put the 6 X next to the TR Blue 6 X: tip flex 81 against 90, butt flex 67 against 76, and the number drops as the section gets stiffer. The same holds against the standard Ventus Black (6 X tip 85, butt 75). Spread Tow in the mid and handle then cuts twist through transition, so the firmness shows up as a face that doesn't open or shut on you, not as a dead feel.

The core is the whole point. VeloCore+ is a multi-material bias core that runs the length of the shaft and keeps the tip from twisting on off-center hits. The plus version adds another bias core material over the original VeloCore, and the goal is the same: tighter dispersion and a little more ball speed on the hits that aren't flush.

Picking a weight and flex, and what to tip

  • Weight before flex. The 5 is 61 g, the 6 is 69 g and the 7 is 79 g. If your current driver shaft is in the mid 60s, start with the 6. When you want more stability, go up a series before you go up a flex.
  • The Black S is not a soft shaft. The Black 6 S has a tip flex rating of 87, firmer than the TR Blue 6 TX at 88, with a butt rating of 72 against the TX's 70. If you're an S flex in a TR Blue, don't assume the Black S is your match. Hit it first, or ask us.
  • The 8 X and 9 X are fairway weights. At 87 g and 97 g they're built for 3 woods and up. The 9 X is the one we'd put in a 7 or 9 wood for a player who balloons high-lofted fairways.
  • Tip trimming. Fujikura's chart is 0" for a driver or 3 wood, 0.5" for a 5 wood, 1.0" for a 7 wood and 1.5" for a 9 wood, and every inch you tip is roughly one flex stiffer. Want to sit between S and X? Tip 0.5" and butt trim to length.

Graphite. Raw length 46", parallel tip section 3.0", tip diameter 0.335" (our measurement; the tip diameter isn't on Fujikura's chart). Tip flex and butt flex are Fujikura's stiffness ratings; within a model, the stiffer flex has the lower number.

How the Ventus TR Family Compares

Profile Launch Spin Bend Point Flexes Weights Tip Flex (6 S)
TR Red Mid-high Mid-low Mid (7 X, 8 X, 9 X: mid-high) R2 to X 60 to 96 g 96
TR Blue Mid Low Mid R to TX 60 to 98 g 94
TR Black (You're here) Low Low High S and X 61 to 97 g 87

Launch, spin, bend point and tip flex are Fujikura's ratings. Want the Black profile without Spread Tow? That's the Ventus Black VeloCore+, a little softer in the tip and handle. The whole brand lineup is in The Fujikura Shaft Guide.

Want It Built and Ready to Play?

Same shaft, same 8 options, but we do the work. Order the assembled TR Black VeloCore+ and pick:

  • Your length: the standard length for your head, a custom length, or left uncut
  • Your grip, logo up or down, with extra wraps of tape if you want them

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an adapter to use this shaft?

Only if your driver or fairway has an adjustable hosel, which most do. The 0.335" tip fits every current adapter, and you can pick one up from our shaft adapters. If you'd rather not epoxy it yourself, the assembled listing includes the adapter and the install.

What changed from the original Ventus TR Black?

The flight rating didn't: both generations are low launch, low spin, high bend point. The core did. VeloCore+ adds another bias core material over the original VeloCore, which shows up as tighter dispersion on heel and toe strikes. The chart also moved a little. The 2026 6 S reads 87 tip and 72 butt against 92 and 80 on the original, so the new one measures firmer in both sections, and the 2026 line adds a 9 X at 97 g that the original never had.

Does it work in a fairway wood?

Yes, for a player who already flights it low and wants the 3 wood to match the driver. Go one series heavier than your driver shaft. The 9 X is a 7 or 9 wood shaft for golfers who spin those clubs too much. Follow Fujikura's tip trim chart above for 5 woods and up.

S or X?

Go by your transition, not just your speed. In the 6 and 7 series the Black S already rates firmer in the tip than a TR Blue TX, so most golfers who play S in a Blue belong in the Black S, not the X. The X is for a hard, fast move from the top that still feels the S give. If you're unsure, the S is the safer pick, and you can always tip it half an inch.

Does this come with a grip or adapter?

No. This listing is the bare 46" shaft, nothing installed, nothing cut. If you want it ready to screw into your head, order the assembled TR Black instead and choose your adapter, length and grip at checkout.

Picking a weight and flex, and what to tip
