WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The Fujikura 2026 Ventus TR Black with VeloCore+ is the low-launch, low-spin driver shaft in the Ventus TR line, built for golfers with swing speeds of 100 mph and above who need to keep spin in check and want the face to stay put through impact. It has the firmest tip and butt flex ratings in the TR family and a high bend point on every option, with Spread Tow carbon fabric in the mid and handle to cut twist when you go hard from the top. You pick from 8 options in S or X flex, and it arrives with your adapter tip and grip installed, cut to length, ready to screw into your driver or fairway wood.

Who It's For
Good fit if you...
- Swing 100 mph or faster with an aggressive, fast tempo
- Launch it too high or carry too much spin off the driver, even in a stiff shaft
- Tried the TR Blue and still felt the tip kick early or the spin stay up
- Play in windy conditions where a lower, boring flight keeps you in the fairway
Not the right fit if you...
- Swing under 100 mph. The Black will feel too stiff and cost you distance, and the TR Blue keeps the spin low without the penalty
- Already launch it low and struggle to carry it. Look at the TR Blue or the TR Red instead
- Have a smooth, slow tempo and never load the handle. The Ventus Black VeloCore+ without Spread Tow is a little softer in both the tip and the handle
- Build your own clubs and just want the raw shaft. Grab the uncut TR Black and save the build time
How It Plays
Low, flat and quiet off the face. Every option in the table is low launch, low spin, with a high bend point. There's no soft section anywhere to help the ball up, and that's the point. At speed, a shaft that kicks early sends the ball up and spinning. This one doesn't kick early. You get a penetrating flight and a face that stays where you left it.
Firmer than Blue where it counts. Put the 6 X next to the TR Blue 6 X: tip flex 81 against 90, butt flex 67 against 76, and the number drops as the section gets stiffer. Spread Tow in the mid and handle then cuts twist through transition, so the firmness shows up as a face that doesn't open or shut on you, not as a dead feel. You can still feel it load. The kick is just tighter and later than a softer profile.
The core is the whole point. VeloCore+ is a multi-material bias core that runs the length of the shaft and keeps the tip from twisting on off-center hits. The plus version adds another bias core material over the original VeloCore, and the goal is the same: tighter dispersion and a little more ball speed on the hits that aren't flush.
Before you pick your options
- Weight before flex. The 5 is 61 g, the 6 is 69 g and the 7 is 79 g. If your current driver shaft is in the mid 60s, start with the 6. When you want more stability, go up a series before you go up a flex.
- The Black S is not a soft shaft. The Black 6 S has a tip flex rating of 87, firmer than the TR Blue 6 TX at 88, with a butt rating of 72 against the TX's 70. If you're an S flex in a TR Blue, don't assume the Black S is your match. Ask us before you order if you're unsure.
- Length is measured adapter tip to grip. The number you pick is the shaft assembly with no head on it. Choose the standard length option for your brand and you get that brand's stock playing length. For a custom length, remember the head adds roughly an inch, so a driver you want to play at 45.25" is about a 44.25" tip-to-grip build. Every half inch you take off costs about three swingweight points, so if you go shorter than stock, tell us and we can add tape under the grip or you can plan a heavier head weight.

Graphite. Raw length 46" before we cut it, parallel tip section 3.0", tip diameter 0.335" (our measurement; the tip diameter isn't on Fujikura's chart). Tip flex and butt flex are Fujikura's stiffness ratings; within a model, the stiffer flex has the lower number.

Launch, spin, bend point and tip flex are Fujikura's ratings. The speed column is our fitting guidance from building these for customers, not a Fujikura number. Want the Black profile without Spread Tow? That's the assembled Ventus Black VeloCore+. The whole brand lineup is in The Fujikura Shaft Guide.
