WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Fujikura Ventus Hybrid is the original Ventus hybrid shaft, built around the first VeloCore core, and we carry it in the Blue profile: mid launch and a mid bend point on every build, with mid spin on the lighter series and low spin from the 8 up. Torque runs from 3.4 on the 6 R2 down to 1.8 on the 10 X, which is why the head stays quiet through the turf. This is the raw shaft: 42" uncut, 2.5" parallel tip, 0.370" tip diameter, in five weight and flex options from a 6 R2 at 64 g to a 10 X at 102 g. If you build your own clubs or have a shop you trust, this is the listing you want.

Not sure Blue is your profile? Take the 2-Minute Shaft Quiz or compare every profile in our Fujikura Ventus Shaft Guide.

Earlier version. This is the first-generation Ventus hybrid with the original VeloCore core, sold in Blue only with a 2.5" parallel tip. The current version is the Ventus HB with VeloCore+, which adds another bias core material, moves to a 3.0" parallel tip and comes in Red, Blue and Black. The numbers below are Fujikura's chart for this version.

Who It's For

Good fit if you...

  • Play a Ventus Blue in your driver or fairway and want the same family in your hybrid without paying for the newest core
  • Want a mid-launch hybrid with low torque that doesn't hook when you turn it over
  • Fit the flexes we stock: R2 in the 6, R in the 7, or X in the 8, 9 and 10
  • Build your own clubs or have a fitter who'll tip, cut and install it for you

Not the right fit if you...

  • Need an S flex, or a Red or Black profile. The Ventus HB with VeloCore+ has all three profiles and S flex in the 7, 8 and 9
  • Need a hybrid shaft under 64 g, or need help getting the ball up. The Vista Pro Hybrid runs 48 to 75.5 g and launches high
  • Want it screwed into your adjustable hybrid on arrival. Order the assembled original Ventus HB instead

How It Plays

Mid launch that doesn't drift. Every build on this listing has a mid bend point and mid launch. The 6 R2 and 7 R are rated mid spin, so the lighter builds still get a hybrid up and landing soft. The 8, 9 and 10 X go to low spin, and that's the flight a strong player wants from a 2 or 3 hybrid that has to hold a line into the wind.

Low torque, stiff tip. Torque drops from 3.4 on the lightest build to 1.8 on the heaviest, and those are low numbers for a hybrid shaft. The tip stays put when the head catches turf before the ball, which is the hybrid miss nobody talks about. The original VeloCore is a multi-material bias core that runs the length of the shaft and keeps the tip from twisting on off-center hits.

Where it sits against the new one. The VeloCore+ version adds a second bias core material and a longer parallel tip. Launch and bend point are rated mid on both Blue versions (the VeloCore+ Blue 10 X is the one exception, at a mid-high bend point), but the original's 8, 9 and 10 X carry a low spin rating that the VeloCore+ Blue doesn't. If you're replacing an original Ventus hybrid you already like, this is the exact shaft. If you're starting fresh, the newer one gives you more flex and profile choices.

Picking a weight and flex, and what to tip

  • Weight before flex. Each series step adds about 10 g. A hybrid shaft should sit between your fairway shaft and your iron shafts so the set flows. If you play 70 g in the fairway and 105 g steel in the irons, the 8 or 9 is the natural spot.
  • The flex options are not a ladder. We stock R2 in the 6, R in the 7 and X in the 8, 9 and 10, so moving up a series here also moves you up in flex. If you're an S flex player, the 7 R will feel soft and the 8 X will feel firm. Pick by which miss you'd rather have, or go to the VeloCore+ Blue 8 S.
  • Tip trimming. Fujikura's hybrid chart goes by loft: 0" for 15 to 20 degrees, 0.5" for 21 to 23, 1.0" for 24 to 27 and 1.5" for a 28 degree head, and every inch you tip plays about one flex stiffer. The chart is a suggestion, not a rule. Tip first, then butt trim to length. The parallel tip here is 2.5", so there's room for the full chart.
  • Adapter needed for adjustable hosels. The 0.370" tip fits every current hybrid adapter, and you can pick one up from our shaft adapters. Non-adjustable heads with a 0.370" bore take it straight in with epoxy.

Want It Built and Ready to Play?

Same shaft, same five options, but we do the work. Order the assembled original Ventus HB and pick:

  • Your hybrid adapter tip, installed and set to your hosel setting: Callaway, Cobra, Mizuno, Ping, PXG, Srixon, TaylorMade, Titleist, Tour Edge or Wilson
  • Your length, 37" to 42" adapter tip to grip, or left uncut
  • Your grip, logo up or down, with extra wraps of tape if you want them

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this work in my 3 wood?

No. It's a hybrid shaft with a 0.370" tip, and fairway woods take a 0.335" tip, so it won't fit the adapter or the hosel. For a 3 wood you want a wood shaft, like the Ventus Blue VeloCore+ driver and fairway shaft. It's worth checking the tip size on any shaft before you order.

How long is it out of the box?

42" uncut, with nothing installed. Most finished hybrids end up around 39" to 41" of shaft once the head's on, so you'll be trimming a few inches off the butt end to get there.

Does this come with a grip or adapter?

No. This listing is the bare shaft, nothing installed, nothing cut. If you want it ready to screw into your head, order the assembled original Ventus HB instead and choose your adapter, length and grip at checkout.

Why isn't there a stiff flex?

Because R2, R and X are the flexes we stock in the original line. The 6 comes in R2, the 7 in R, and the 8, 9 and 10 in X. If you're a stiff-flex player and want a Ventus hybrid, the Ventus HB with VeloCore+ has the Blue 7, 8 and 9 in S.
