🚫 No Returns or Refunds on Assembled Shafts
Please note that all assembled shaft orders are final. Due to the custom nature of this process, we do not accept returns or offer refunds on any assembled shafts. Each order is built to your specifications, and once assembly begins, we are unable to restock or resell the components.
We encourage you to double-check all specs (flex, length, grip, adapter, etc.) before placing your order. If you need help confirming details, our team is happy to assist before you check out.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The Fujikura Ventus Black with the original VeloCore is the low-launch, low-spin profile of the first Ventus line, built for the golfer who hits it high with a hard transition and wants the flight down. The tip is ultra-stiff, the mid is stiff and the handle is ultra-stiff too, with a high bend point, so nothing gives when you go after one. This is the raw shaft: 46" uncut, 3.0" parallel tip, 0.335" tip diameter, in the three options we stock in the original line: 5 X, 6 S and 7 S. If you build your own clubs or have a shop you trust, this is the listing you want.
Not sure Black is your profile? Take the 2-Minute Shaft Quiz or compare every profile in our Fujikura Ventus Shaft Guide.
This is the original VeloCore version. Fujikura's current Ventus Black is built on VeloCore+, which adds another material to the multi-material bias core, aimed at tighter dispersion and more ball speed on mishits. The profile is the same low launch and low spin, and the current version comes in 8 options from a 5 S to a 9 X. If you want the newest build or a weight and flex we don't have here, order the Ventus Black VeloCore+. If you already play the original and want to match it, you're in the right place.
Who It's For
Good fit if you...
- Launch it high and spin it too much even in a stiff shaft, and want a flatter, more penetrating flight
- Have a fast, aggressive transition and want a handle that doesn't give at the top
- Already play the original Ventus Black and want to match it, not the VeloCore+ update
- Build your own clubs or have a fitter who'll cut, tip and install it for you
Not the right fit if you...
- Need help getting the ball up or come up short on carry. The original Ventus Red launches higher with a low bend point
- Want the low spin without the low launch. The original Ventus Blue keeps spin down with a mid bend point and a friendlier handle
- Need a weight or flex we don't stock in the original, such as a 5 S, 6 X or 8 X. The Ventus Black VeloCore+ has them
- Want it cut to length with the adapter and grip already on, ready to screw into your driver. Order the assembled original Ventus Black instead
How It Plays
Firm at both ends. The handle and the tip are both ultra-stiff, with a stiff mid between them. Load it hard and it holds. Swing it easy and it feels like a board, so if your tempo is smooth, we'd point you to the Blue even at the same speed. This shaft rewards the golfer who goes after it.
Low launch, low spin, the lowest flight of the original three. The high bend point keeps the ball down, and the ultra-stiff tip keeps the face from adding loft at impact. Red is mid-high launch with mid spin; Blue is mid launch, low spin. If your drives balloon and fall out of the sky, this is the profile that fixes it.
The core is the whole point. VeloCore is a multi-material bias core that runs the length of the shaft and keeps the tip from twisting on off-center hits. The VeloCore+ version that replaced it adds one more core material to the same idea. The goal didn't change between the two: a square face and ball speed on the hits that aren't flush.
Picking a weight and flex, and what to tip
- Three options, three jobs. The 5 X at 58 g is the light, extra-stiff choice for a fast swing that wants speed. For a driver, the 6 S at 64 g is the one we'd start you in. The 7 S at 77 g is the 3 wood weight, or the driver shaft for someone already playing something in the mid 70s.
- Pick by transition, not just speed. The high bend point and the firm handle already do the work of keeping the flight down, so you don't need to over-flex it. If you're between S and X, the 6 S or 7 S is the safer pick. Go to the 5 X only if you snap it from the top.
- Tip trimming. Fujikura's chart is 0" for a driver or 3 wood, 0.5" for a 5 wood, 1.0" for a 7 wood and 1.5" for a 9 wood, and every inch you tip is roughly one flex stiffer. Want to sit between S and X? Tip 0.5" and butt trim to length.

Graphite. Raw length 46", parallel tip section 3.0", tip diameter 0.335" (our measurement; Fujikura's chart never listed tip diameter). Tip flex and butt flex are Fujikura's stiffness ratings; within a model, the stiffer flex has the lower number.
Specs carried from our previous listing; Fujikura no longer publishes a chart for this version.
How the Original Ventus Family Compares
| Profile | Launch | Spin | Bend Point | Tip / Mid / Handle | Weights We Stock |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ventus Red | Mid-high | Mid | Low (9 X: low-mid) | Stiff / Firm / Ultra-stiff | 58 to 94 g |
| Ventus Blue | Mid | Low | Mid | Ultra-stiff / Stiff / Firm | 58.5 to 86 g |
| Ventus Black (You're here) | Low | Low | High | Ultra-stiff / Stiff / Ultra-stiff | 58 to 77 g |
Launch, spin, bend point and section stiffness are Fujikura's ratings for the original line, carried from our listings. The weight column is what we stock in the original VeloCore version, not Fujikura's full range. Want the Black profile with Spread Tow fabric in the mid and handle? That's the original Ventus TR Black. The whole brand lineup is in The Fujikura Shaft Guide.
