WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Nippon N.S. Pro Modus3 Tour 130 Iron Shaft Bundle Set is a set of seven steel iron shafts with a 0.355" taper tip or a 0.370" parallel tip. Choose #4-PW or #5-GW in R (121 g), S (124 g) or X (129 g). Nippon gives the Tour 130 a softer tip for a higher trajectory with tour spin and a stiffer mid section for power.

Before you order: pick the tip that matches your iron hosels, 0.355" taper or 0.370" parallel. See How Nippon Shaft Lengths Work. Only need one or two clubs? Buy the Tour 130 single shaft (0.355") or the 0.370" single shaft.

What's in the Set

Set What you get Available in
#4-PW 7 shafts: 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9-iron and PW R, S, X
#5-GW 7 shafts: 5, 6, 7, 8, 9-iron, PW and GW R, S, X

Shafts only; club heads and grips are not included. Every shaft in a set is the same model and flex. Every flex comes with a 0.355" or 0.370" tip. The 0.355" taper tips come already sized for each iron. Whichever tip you choose, the butt end is left long so your club builder can cut each shaft to its final length. Want us to install them? See our Retrofit Service.

Who It's For

Good fit if you...

  • Are reshafting seven irons with 0.355" taper or 0.370" parallel hosels
  • Want a higher flight with tour spin from a heavy steel shaft, 121 g to 129 g
  • Want a firm mid section that Nippon says passes more of your swing into the ball
  • Want a firmer butt section, which Nippon says helps the timing of your swing

Not the right fit if you...

How It Plays

Softer tip, stiffer mid. Nippon gives the Tour 130 relatively low tip rigidity for a higher trajectory and tour spin, and high mid-section rigidity to carry more of your swing's force into the ball while keeping shaft wobble down.

Firmer butt for timing. Nippon says the stiffer butt section helps the timing of the swing and gives a smoother feel at impact. Kick point is middle on Nippon's chart.

Which Modus3 Should I Choose?

Nippon publishes no swing speed or flex chart for the Modus3 Tour line. It describes each model by its weight and bend profile, so choose the model first and then the flex you play now. Here is how the three Modus3 Tour sets we sell compare on Nippon's figures.

Nippon model Weight (g) What Nippon says
Modus3 Tour 105 103–112 Mid flight, mid spin; smooth, traditional bend; kick point toward the grip
Modus3 Tour 120 111–126 Stiff tip and softer mid for a stronger flight with less unwanted spin; kick point mid/high
Modus3 Tour 130 (this page) 121–129 Softer tip for a higher flight with tour spin; stiffer mid for power; middle kick point

Weights run from the R flex to the heaviest flex of each model. Not sure? Take the Iron Shaft Finder Quiz.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many shafts are in the Modus3 Tour 130 bundle set?

Seven. The #4-PW set covers 4-iron through pitching wedge and the #5-GW set 5-iron through gap wedge. Every shaft in a set is the same flex.

Which Modus3 Tour 130 flex should I choose?

Nippon publishes no swing speed chart for the Tour 130. The flexes step up in weight: R 121 g, S 124 g and X 129 g. Most golfers stay with the flex they play now. Not sure? Take the Iron Shaft Finder Quiz.

What launch and spin does the Tour 130 have?

Nippon gives it no rating label. It says the softer tip produces high trajectories with tour spin.

Do the shafts need to be trimmed?

The 0.355" taper tips come sized for each iron, and the butt end is left long so your club builder can cut each shaft to its final length. See How Nippon Shaft Lengths Work.

What's the difference between the Tour 130 and Tour 120 sets?

They use opposite profiles. The Tour 130 has a softer tip and stiffer mid for a higher flight with tour spin. The Tour 120 has a stiff tip and softer mid for a stronger flight with less unwanted spin, is a little lighter (111 to 126 g) and adds a TX flex.

Questions & Answers

Have a Question?

Ask a Question
  • If I’m currently playing a lighter 100g shaft, will switching to the Modus 130 make my swing feel too heavy or harder to control?

Weight of the shaft is more about personal preference, swing tempo, and strength. We can also anchor the comparison with your other clubs. If you are playing a 70g or heavier driver shaft, most players will find the. Modus 130 to give good control without feeling too heavy. If you have a quick tempo or aggressive swing style, then the Modus 130 would definitely be a good option. Keep in mind the trimmed weight will be around 115g.

  • looking to improve consistency on my irons, especially mid irons.. would this shaft help tighten dispersion or is it more for stronger players?

The Tour 130 is built for stronger players with faster swing speeds or more aggressive transitions. The heavy weight and low torque do help tighten dispersion, but only if you can handle the load. If your swing speed is more moderate, it'll fight you and actually hurt consistency in the mid irons. If you tend to over-release or play an aggressive transition, but if your tempo is smoother or swing speed is moderate, the stiff tip can cause pushes or inconsistent flight.
