The Technology Behind the TD 2.0
The TD 2.0 is built around KBS's Butt-to-Tip Energy Transfer model, which manages how energy moves through the shaft during the swing. Combined with optimized torsional stiffness, it's engineered to enhance clubhead speed and stability through impact. KBS's Tour Driven profile is tuned to optimize both launch and spin, producing the more consistent dispersion that lower-handicap players are after.
How the TD 2.0 Compares
Within KBS's graphite driver and wood lineup, the TD 2.0 occupies the "optimized launch and spin" position — here's how it stacks up against its closest siblings:
- TD 2.0 vs. the original TD — The 2.0 is the next-generation Tour Driven design, updated with KBS's Butt-to-Tip Energy Transfer model to optimize launch and spin for more consistent dispersion. If you played the original TD, the 2.0 is its direct evolution.
- TD 2.0 vs. KBS TGBlack — Both are premium KBS graphite wood shafts, but they're built for different players. The TGBlack is a dedicated low-launch, low-spin shaft engineered for elite, higher-speed players chasing a penetrating, controlled ball flight, with a stiff, stable tip. The TD 2.0 takes a more fit-flexible approach — its Tour Driven profile optimizes both launch and spin rather than forcing low/low, making it the better match for the wider range of players who want consistent dispersion without giving up launch. If you're a stronger player who needs to take spin off, the TGBlack is the specialist; if you want optimized, dialed-in performance across a broader range of swing speeds, the TD 2.0 is the more versatile choice.
The TD 2.0's combination of the Tour Driven profile with a 50–70g weight range and R2-through-Tour-X flex spread gives a fitter the room to match it to nearly any driver or wood player.
Finding Your Fit
A shaft's weight and flex shape how it loads and releases through your swing, so matching them to your speed and tempo matters. As a general guide: lighter 50g options (R2, R) help moderate swing speeds launch the ball higher with added speed; 60g options (R, S) balance control and trajectory for a wide range of players; heavier 70g options (S, X, Tour X) suit faster, tour-level swings seeking lower, tighter, more controlled flight. If you know your driver swing speed and current shaft, tell us and we'll match the build to your game.

My current driver speed is 95-100 mph, I play a tensei 1 k shaft now and carry approx 250-255 I’m thinking your 50s category 3 is best , which one do you recommend
Hi Ken,
Thank you for your question.
Based on your driver speed of 95-100 mph, carry distance of 250-255 yards, and the fact that you're currently playing a Tensei 1K shaft, I agree that the 50 Series Category 3 (Stiff Flex) is probably the best place to start.
Of the KBS TD 2.0 options, I would recommend the:
KBS TD 2.0 Category 3 – 50g Stiff Flex
This profile provides a nice balance of stability and feel without being overly stout. At your swing speed, it should help you maintain good ball speed while still offering plenty of control.
If your typical ball flight is already on the low side, or if you tend to fade the ball, I might consider moving to the Category 2 profile for a little more launch and feel. However, if your goal is tighter dispersion and a more penetrating flight, I would stay with the Category 3.
One additional question:
- What is your typical miss? (Left, right, hook, slice, high, low?)
That would help me confirm whether Category 3 is the best fit or whether another profile might serve you better.
Thanks,
Jim

I’m looking at picking up the KBS TD 2.0 for my Callaway Paradym head. I usually swing around 102-105 mph with a pretty aggressive transition. Do you think the Category 3 (Stiff) keeps the spin down enough?
You'll want to go with the X-Stiff flex. Anything softer and you may see issues with getting the clubhead back to square at impact.

if I order this, what is the final playing length going to be for a standard TaylorMade driver? Just want to make sure it's not pre-cut too short before the adapter goes on
It depends on your TaylorMade driver model. You can see the standard shaft lengths, when you fill out the order form, and typically Taylormade final playing length is 1" to 1.25" over the shaft length (meaning when the shaft is screwed into the driver head).
