WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Fujikura 2026 Ventus TR Red with VeloCore+ is the highest-launching shaft in the Ventus TR lineup, with the softest tip of the three, built for golfers with swing speeds between 70 and 105 mph who want help getting the ball in the air without the loose feel of a lightweight regular shaft. Every option is mid-high launch and mid-low spin. Spread Tow carbon fabric in the mid and handle keeps the handle firm through transition, and the VeloCore+ core keeps the tip from turning on off-center hits. You pick the weight and flex from 10 options, and it arrives with your adapter tip and grip installed, cut to length, ready to screw into your driver or fairway wood.

Who It's For

Good fit if you...

  • Swing between 70 and 105 mph and launch it too low or come up short on carry
  • Have a smoother tempo and want a shaft that loads without a fight
  • Play a 7 wood or 9 wood and want a shaft that gets high-lofted heads up
  • Tried the Ventus Blue or Black and found them too stiff or too low

Not the right fit if you...

  • Already launch it high or carry too much spin. The TR Blue keeps the launch mid and the spin low
  • Swing 110+ mph and need to bring the flight and spin down. The TR Black is the call
  • Want the Red profile without Spread Tow and with a little more spin. That's the Ventus Red VeloCore+
  • Build your own clubs and just want the raw shaft. Grab the uncut TR Red and save the build time

How It Plays

Launch help without the loose feel. The tip is the softest in the TR line (6 S tip flex: Red 96, Blue 94, Black 87, and the number drops as the tip gets stiffer), so it loads early and gets the ball up. Bend point is mid in the 5, 6 and 7 S. The 7 X, 8 X and 9 X move it to mid-high, which keeps the heavier shafts from going soft.

Where it sits in the TR family. Blue is mid launch and low spin with a firmer tip, and Black is low and low with the firmest tip of the three. Red is the one you pick when the other two leave you short of carry. Spread Tow in the mid and handle is what separates it from a plain regular-flex shaft: the handle stays firm through transition, so the softer tip doesn't turn into a face you can't control.

The core is the whole point. VeloCore+ is a multi-material bias core that runs the length of the shaft and keeps the tip from twisting on off-center hits. The plus version adds another bias core material over the original VeloCore, and the goal is the same: tighter dispersion and a little more ball speed on the hits that aren't flush.

Before you pick your options

  • Weight before flex. Each series step adds about 8 to 10 g. If your current driver shaft is in the low 60s, start with the TR Red 5. High 60s, the 6. When you want more stability, go up a series before you go up a flex.
  • The 5 R2 is the softest shaft in the TR family. Tip flex 114 and butt flex 101, built for slower swings that still need the ball up. A smooth-tempo R flex player is better off in the 5 R, and a quick one in the 5 S.
  • Length is measured adapter tip to grip. The number you pick is the shaft assembly with no head on it. Choose the standard length option for your brand and you get that brand's stock playing length. For a custom length, remember the head adds roughly an inch, so a driver you want to play at 45.25" is about a 44.25" tip-to-grip build. Every half inch you take off costs about three swingweight points, so if you go shorter than stock, tell us and we can add tape under the grip or you can plan a heavier head weight.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are there so many Ventus models, and how do I pick?

Because the line is sorted by flight and feel, not just speed. Red launches highest and plays softest, for golfers who need help in the air. Blue is the mid-launch, low-spin middle that fits the most swings. Black is low and firm for fast players keeping spin down. The TR versions add Spread Tow fabric in the mid and handle to cut twist through transition, and VeloCore+ is the core that tightens dispersion on off-center hits. Start with your miss: short and low points you here, high and spinny points to Blue or Black.

How is this different from the original Ventus TR Red? Should I upgrade?

The flight is the same: both generations are mid-high launch, mid-low spin, and the chart numbers nearly overlap (the original 6 S is 68 g with a 99 tip and 78 butt rating; the 2026 6 S is 69 g, 96 and 80). What's new is the VeloCore+ core, which adds another bias core material and shows up as tighter dispersion on heel and toe strikes. The 2026 line also adds a 9 X at 96 g. If your current TR Red is doing its job and you flush it, there's no rush. If your misses spread, it's worth it.

R2 or R? I'm around 80 mph.

Go by your tempo. If your swing is smooth and unhurried, the 5 R2 gives you the most help getting the ball up. If you have a quicker move from the top, even at 80 mph, the 5 R will feel more connected and won't balloon on you. When you're truly on the fence, the R is the safer pick because you can always add loft at the hosel.

I want it half an inch shorter than stock. What length do I order?

Our length dropdown is measured from the adapter tip to the end of the grip, with no head on it. The standard length option for your brand is that brand's stock length, so for half an inch shorter, pick a custom length half an inch under that number. If you'd rather tell us the finished playing length you want, contact us with your head model and we'll work out the tip-to-grip number, since the head adds length (about an inch on most drivers).

Can I use this in a fairway wood?

Yes, and the 7 wood and 9 wood are where it shines. Choose the fairway wood option and your adapter when you add it to the cart. Most golfers go one series heavier in the fairway than in the driver, so a TR Red 5 driver player usually ends up with a 6 or 7 in the 3 wood and the 8 X or 9 X in the high-lofted ones.

Not sure which shaft is right for your game?

Text our shaft experts at (818) 473-9086 before you order. We've been fitting golfers since 1991 and are happy to talk through your swing speed, current shaft, and what you're trying to fix.
