WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Fujikura 2026 Ventus TR Black with VeloCore+ is the low-launch, low-spin driver shaft in the Ventus TR line, built for golfers with swing speeds of 100 mph and above who need to keep spin in check and want the face to stay put through impact. It has the firmest tip and butt flex ratings in the TR family and a high bend point on every option, with Spread Tow carbon fabric in the mid and handle to cut twist when you go hard from the top. You pick from 8 options in S or X flex, and it arrives with your adapter tip and grip installed, cut to length, ready to screw into your driver or fairway wood.

Who It's For

Good fit if you...

  • Swing 100 mph or faster with an aggressive, fast tempo
  • Launch it too high or carry too much spin off the driver, even in a stiff shaft
  • Tried the TR Blue and still felt the tip kick early or the spin stay up
  • Play in windy conditions where a lower, boring flight keeps you in the fairway

Not the right fit if you...

  • Swing under 100 mph. The Black will feel too stiff and cost you distance, and the TR Blue keeps the spin low without the penalty
  • Already launch it low and struggle to carry it. Look at the TR Blue or the TR Red instead
  • Have a smooth, slow tempo and never load the handle. The Ventus Black VeloCore+ without Spread Tow is a little softer in both the tip and the handle
  • Build your own clubs and just want the raw shaft. Grab the uncut TR Black and save the build time

How It Plays

Low, flat and quiet off the face. Every option in the table is low launch, low spin, with a high bend point. There's no soft section anywhere to help the ball up, and that's the point. At speed, a shaft that kicks early sends the ball up and spinning. This one doesn't kick early. You get a penetrating flight and a face that stays where you left it.

Firmer than Blue where it counts. Put the 6 X next to the TR Blue 6 X: tip flex 81 against 90, butt flex 67 against 76, and the number drops as the section gets stiffer. Spread Tow in the mid and handle then cuts twist through transition, so the firmness shows up as a face that doesn't open or shut on you, not as a dead feel. You can still feel it load. The kick is just tighter and later than a softer profile.

The core is the whole point. VeloCore+ is a multi-material bias core that runs the length of the shaft and keeps the tip from twisting on off-center hits. The plus version adds another bias core material over the original VeloCore, and the goal is the same: tighter dispersion and a little more ball speed on the hits that aren't flush.

Before you pick your options

  • Weight before flex. The 5 is 61 g, the 6 is 69 g and the 7 is 79 g. If your current driver shaft is in the mid 60s, start with the 6. When you want more stability, go up a series before you go up a flex.
  • The Black S is not a soft shaft. The Black 6 S has a tip flex rating of 87, firmer than the TR Blue 6 TX at 88, with a butt rating of 72 against the TX's 70. If you're an S flex in a TR Blue, don't assume the Black S is your match. Ask us before you order if you're unsure.
  • Length is measured adapter tip to grip. The number you pick is the shaft assembly with no head on it. Choose the standard length option for your brand and you get that brand's stock playing length. For a custom length, remember the head adds roughly an inch, so a driver you want to play at 45.25" is about a 44.25" tip-to-grip build. Every half inch you take off costs about three swingweight points, so if you go shorter than stock, tell us and we can add tape under the grip or you can plan a heavier head weight.

Launch, spin, bend point and tip flex are Fujikura's ratings. The speed column is our fitting guidance from building these for customers, not a Fujikura number. Frequently Asked Questions

I'm losing ball speed in my current low-spin shaft. Will the TR Black fix that?

Probably not, and it could make it worse. The TR Black is stiffer and lower launching than most low-spin shafts golfers come from, so if your speed is dropping, you're likely to under-load it and lose more. VeloCore+ does recover some ball speed on mishits by keeping the face stable, but that's a dispersion fix, not a speed fix. If your numbers are sliding, step toward the TR Blue or the standard Ventus Black for a little more launch and energy. Contact us with your swing speed and we'll talk you through it.

Will it feel boardy if I'm not swinging all out every time?

Firm, yes. Boardy, no. Even when you aren't going at it hard, you can still feel this shaft load. The kick is tighter and later than a softer profile, and the stability on off-center hits is what stands out first. Where it gets away from you is if your tempo is smooth and slow all the time, because then you never load the handle and you're carrying stiffness you can't use.

What changed from the original Ventus TR Black?

The flight rating didn't: both generations are low launch, low spin, high bend point. The core did. VeloCore+ adds another bias core material over the original VeloCore, which shows up as tighter dispersion on heel and toe strikes. The chart also moved a little. The 2026 6 S reads 87 tip and 72 butt against 92 and 80 on the original, so the new one measures firmer in both sections, and the 2026 line adds a 9 X at 97 g that the original never had.

I want it half an inch shorter than stock. What length do I order?

Our length dropdown is measured from the adapter tip to the end of the grip, with no head on it. The standard length option for your brand is that brand's stock length, so for half an inch shorter, pick a custom length half an inch under that number. If you'd rather tell us the finished playing length you want, contact us with your head model and we'll work out the tip-to-grip number, since the head adds length (about an inch on most drivers).

Can I use this in a fairway wood?

Yes. Choose the fairway wood option and your adapter when you add it to the cart. Go one series heavier than your driver shaft for the 3 wood. The 9 X is the one we'd put in a 7 or 9 wood for a strong player whose high-lofted fairways balloon.

Not sure which shaft is right for your game?

Text our shaft experts at (818) 473-9086 before you order. We've been fitting golfers since 1991 and are happy to talk through your swing speed, current shaft, and what you're trying to fix.
