WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Mitsubishi Kai'li Dark Waves Blue is a mid-launch, mid-spin driver shaft with a classic Mitsubishi Blue profile: medium stiffness in the butt, mid and tip. A taper butt handle gives it an active, smooth feel, and MR70 reinforces the tip. We sell the 50, 60 and 70 series in R, S and X flex. It arrives assembled with your choice of adapter and grip, ready to attach to your driver or fairway wood head.

Who It's For

Good fit if you...

  • Want a mid launch and mid spin
  • Like an even, smooth bend profile with no stiff section
  • Like an active feel in the hands from a taper butt handle
  • Swing about 81 mph or faster: Mitsubishi fits R from 81 mph, S from 85 mph, and X above 106 mph

Not the right fit if you...

  • Swing under 80 mph: Mitsubishi doesn't recommend a Dark Waves Blue flex below that speed
  • Want less launch and spin: the Kai'li Dark Waves White is rated low launch, low spin
  • Need TX flex: it is made in R, S and X only

How It Plays

Mitsubishi rates the Dark Waves Blue mid launch, mid spin, with a flex profile of medium butt, medium mid and medium tip and a high kick point. The even stiffness from handle to tip gives it a smooth, predictable load.

The taper butt handle gives it the same active feel in the hands as the Dark Waves White, and Mitsubishi says it launches and spins slightly higher than the White. Super Low Resin Content prepreg in the torque core adds a smooth feel, and an MR70-reinforced tip keeps it stable for stronger swings.

Mitsubishi describes it as a modern, mid-launching, mid-spinning shaft built to give stronger swings the stability they need.

Frequently Asked Questions

What swing speed is the Kai'li Dark Waves Blue for?

Mitsubishi's driver fitting chart puts R flex at 81-90 mph, R or S at 85-95 mph, S at 91-105 mph, and X above 106 mph (60 and 70 series). The 70 series starts at S flex. It doesn't recommend a Dark Waves Blue flex under 80 mph.

How is the Dark Waves Blue different from the Dark Waves White?

Both use a taper butt handle for an active feel. Mitsubishi rates the Blue mid launch and mid spin with medium stiffness throughout, and the White low launch and low spin with a firmer mid and tip.

What is a taper butt?

The handle narrows gradually instead of staying parallel, which changes how the shaft feels in your hands. Mitsubishi uses it on the Dark Waves Blue for a smooth, active feel in the handle.

Can this shaft be built for a fairway wood?

Yes. Select the fairway wood option and your adapter when adding to cart. Fairway builds can be cut from 38.5" to 43.5" adapter tip to grip, or built to the standard length for your head.

What's included with this assembled shaft?

The shaft arrives with your OEM-compatible adapter tip installed (Callaway, Cleveland, Cobra, Krank, Mizuno, Ping, PXG, Srixon, TaylorMade, Titleist, Tour Edge or Wilson; see all shaft adapters) and your chosen grip installed. Club head is not included. Just attach to your driver or fairway wood head and play. See full assembled shaft details.

Can I return an assembled shaft?

No. Each assembled shaft is built to your specs, so we can't restock it. Double-check your flex, length, grip and adapter before you order, and contact us if you'd like help confirming them.

Not sure which shaft is right for your game?

Text our shaft experts at (818) 473-9086 before you order. We've been fitting golfers since 1991 and are happy to talk through your swing speed, current shaft, and what you're trying to fix.
