WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Fujikura Pro Black is the low-mid launch, low-mid spin profile in the 2024 Pro line, with a mid-high bend point that keeps the flight flat and the spin down for faster swings. It shares the Pro Blue's lower-resin materials and Advanced Bend Profile, which targets stiffness at specific spots inside each section instead of stiffening the whole section, but it's built stouter from tip to handle. This is the raw shaft: 46" uncut, 3.0" parallel tip, 0.335" tip diameter, in 5 weight and flex options from a 60 S to an 80 X. Nothing cut, nothing installed.

Not sure Pro Black is your profile? Take the 2-Minute Shaft Quiz or see where it sits in The Fujikura Shaft Guide.

Who It's For

Good fit if you...

  • Swing a driver at about 95 mph or faster and play a stiff or extra stiff flex
  • Launch it high and spin it too much, and want a flatter, more boring flight without going to a tour-stiff shaft
  • Want a heavier option, from 63.5 g up to 82.5 g for a fairway or mini driver build
  • Build your own clubs or have a fitter who'll cut, tip and install it for you

Not the right fit if you...

  • Swing under 95 mph or need a regular or senior flex. The Pro Blue launches easier and comes in R2, R, S and X from 56 g
  • Already hit it low and need to keep carry. The Pro Black takes launch away, and that's the last thing you want
  • Want the lowest flight Fujikura makes along with a core that fights twisting. That's the Ventus Black
  • Want it cut to length with the adapter and grip already on. Order the assembled Pro Black instead

How It Plays

Flat and quiet off the face. The mid-high bend point moves the kick up toward your hands, so the tip stays put through impact and the ball comes off on a lower, more penetrating line. If you spin a driver too much now, expect the flight to settle down first, with the carry and roll following once you trust it.

Stout, but not dead. The Advanced Bend Profile adds stiffness at chosen points within a section rather than making the whole section rigid. That's why the Pro Black still has some give in the handle even though it plays firmer than the Blue. You can load it with a fast transition without the shaft fighting you.

Every build is the same profile. Low-mid launch, low-mid spin and a mid-high bend point on all five options. Weight is the only real variable, with torque running from 3.8 degrees in the 60 S to 3.3 in the 80 X. Pick the weight that matches your tempo and the flight takes care of itself.

Picking a weight and flex, and what to tip

  • Weight before flex. The jump from 60 to 70 is about 10 g, and 70 to 80 is another 8 or so. Most drivers end up in the 60 or 70. If your current shaft spins too much, try a heavier series before you jump to X. The weight calms the head without stiffening the whole club.
  • No regular flex here. The Pro Black starts at S. If you're a smooth-tempo golfer at 95 mph who plays regular now, the Pro Blue 60 R or 70 S is the better path to a lower flight.
  • The 80 X is a fairway and mini driver weight. Very few golfers want 82.5 g in a full-size driver. In a 3 wood or a mini, it's the heaviest, most settled option in the Pro line.
  • Tip trimming. Fujikura's chart is 0" for a driver or 3 wood, 0.5" for a 5 wood, 1.0" for a 7 wood and 1.5" for a 9 wood, and every inch you tip is roughly one flex stiffer. Those are suggestions only, and the chart doesn't recommend tipping a driver or 3 wood at all.
  • Adjustable hosel? You'll need an adapter for your head. The 0.335" tip fits every current driver and fairway adapter we carry.

Graphite. Raw length 46", parallel tip section 3.0", tip diameter 0.335" (our measurement; the tip diameter isn't on Fujikura's chart). Tip flex and butt flex are Fujikura's stiffness ratings; within a model, the stiffer flex has the lower number.

How the Pro Profiles Compare

Profile Launch Spin Bend Point Weights Flexes We Sell Our Speed Guide
Pro Blue Mid-high (50), mid (60, 70) Mid Low-mid 56 to 75 g R2, R, S, X 75 to 110 mph
Pro Black (You're here) Low-mid Low-mid Mid-high 63.5 to 82.5 g S, X 95+ mph

Launch, spin and bend point are Fujikura's ratings. The speed column is our fitting guidance from building these for customers, not a Fujikura number. Both profiles share the same Advanced Bend Profile and lower-resin construction. Want to go lower still, with a bias core that fights twisting on mishits? That's the Ventus Black VeloCore+. The whole brand lineup is in The Fujikura Shaft Guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Pro Black or Ventus Black?

The Ventus Black goes lower and spins less, with a high bend point and a multi-material core that keeps the tip from twisting on heel and toe hits. The Pro Black is low-mid on launch and spin with a mid-high bend point, so it sits one step above the Ventus Black on both. If you still see too much height in a low-mid shaft, go Ventus. If you want a flatter flight than the Pro Blue without dropping all the way to low launch and low spin, the Pro Black is the closer match.

I'm between the 60 S and the 60 X. Which one?

Go by your transition, not just your speed. A quick, aggressive move from the top wants the X. A smooth tempo at the same speed is happier in the S, and remember the Pro Black already plays stouter than a Pro Blue of the same flex. If you're coming from a Pro Blue 60 X and want less spin, the Pro Black 60 S is usually enough of a change. Watch for a ball that starts low and leaks right (for a right-hander). That's the sign you went too stiff.

Do I need an adapter to use this shaft?

Only if your driver or fairway has an adjustable hosel, which most do. The 0.335" tip fits every current adapter, and you can pick one up from our shaft adapters. If you'd rather not epoxy it yourself, the assembled listing includes the adapter and the install.

Does it work in a fairway wood?

Yes, and the low-mid launch suits a 3 wood off the tee. Most golfers go one series heavier in the fairway than in the driver, so a 60 X driver player usually ends up with the 70 X in the 3 wood, and the 80 X is the fairway-only weight. For a 5 wood and up, follow Fujikura's tip trim chart in the callout above.

Does this come with a grip or adapter?

No. This listing is the bare 46" shaft, nothing installed, nothing cut. If you want it ready to screw into your head, order the assembled Pro Black instead and choose your adapter, length and grip at checkout.
