WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Fujikura Speeder NX Green is the Speeder NX whose flight comes down as the weight goes up. In the 40 series it launches mid-high with mid spin, the 50 and 60 move to a mid launch with low-mid spin, and the 70 drops to a low-mid launch with low spin. The twisting stiffness is tuned section by section along the shaft, so it loads like a Speeder without feeling loose. This is the raw shaft: 46" uncut, 3.0" parallel tip, 0.335" tip diameter, in 12 weight and flex options from a 40 R2 at 48 g to a 70 X at 77.5 g. If you build your own clubs or have a shop you trust, this is the listing you want.

Not sure NX Green is your profile? Take the 2-Minute Shaft Quiz or compare every Fujikura model in The Fujikura Shaft Guide.

This is the earlier Speeder NX

  • What's current. Fujikura's Speeder NX lineup today is the NX Gold and the NX Violet. The NX Green is the generation before them, and it's no longer on Fujikura's current spec chart. The specs below are the ones we've published for it since we started stocking it.
  • What changed. The NX Gold is the current lower-flighted Speeder NX: a stiffened mid section for a mid launch and less spin. The NX Violet is the higher-launching option, rated mid-high in every weight with torque tightened about 10% in the tip and butt.
  • Why you'd still buy this one. You already play an NX Green and want a spare or a fairway version built the same way, or you want the Green's feel in one of the 12 options we still have. If you're starting fresh, start with the Gold.

Who It's For

Good fit if you...

  • Want one model that covers a slow swing to a fast one: a 40 R2 at 48 g up to a 70 X at 77.5 g
  • Swing somewhere around 95 to 110 mph and want a mid or low-mid flight with the spin down, from the 60 or 70 series
  • Already play an NX Green and want a spare, a fairway version or a second driver built the same way
  • Build your own clubs or have a fitter who'll cut, tip and install it for you

Not the right fit if you...

  • Want a mid-high flight in every weight, not just the 40 series. The NX Violet is the current shaft that does that, and the NX Blue is the earlier one
  • Want the current-generation version of this flight pattern. The NX Gold is the current Speeder NX built for a mid launch with less spin
  • Need a TX flex. We stock the Green up to X; the Ventus Blue VeloCore+ runs to TX in the 6 and 7 series
  • Want it cut to length with the adapter and grip already on, ready to screw into your driver. Order the assembled NX Green instead

How It Plays

The weight sets the flight. In the 40 series you get a low bend point, mid spin and mid-high launch. The 50 and 60 series move to a mid bend point with low-mid spin and mid launch. Up in the 70, the bend point goes mid-high with low spin and low-mid launch. Torque steps down from 5.7 in the 40 to 3.0 in the 70. So on this shaft, going heavier doesn't just add stability, it changes the window the ball flies in.

Torque tuned along the shaft, not one number end to end. Variable Torque Core is the build behind every Speeder NX, and it means what it sounds like: the twisting stiffness of the core is tuned differently in different sections of the shaft instead of being set once for the whole thing. You won't see it on the chart, which only lists one torque number for each weight; the tuning is in the layup. In your hands it's a Speeder that still loads through the middle without the loose, whippy feel a lighter shaft can have.

Green next to Gold and Blue. The NX Gold is the current shaft on this side of the family, with a stiffened mid section for a mid launch and less spin. The NX Blue and the current NX Violet are the higher-launching pair, rated mid-high in every weight. If you've played an NX Blue and want the same family with a flatter flight, the Green or the Gold is the move; if you want the Blue's height with a current build, that's the Violet.

Picking a weight and flex, and what to tip

  • Weight before flex. The 40 series is 48 to 52.5 g, the 50 is 54.5 to 57.5, the 60 is 65 to 68 and the 70 is 76 to 77.5. Our fitting guidance: the 60 S around 95 to 105 mph, the 60 X and 70 S around 100 to 110, and the 70 X above about 108. For the 40 and 50 series, contact us and we'll help you match a flex.
  • The R2 is the senior flex. It's only in the 40 series, at 48 g with the highest launch rating on the page. If you're coming off a 60 g regular shaft and the ball won't get up anymore, a 40 or 50 series in R2 or R is the honest answer, not a stiffer version of what you have.
  • Tip trimming. Fujikura's chart is 0" for a driver or 3 wood, 0.5" for a 5 wood, 1.0" for a 7 wood and 1.5" for a 9 wood, and every inch you tip is roughly one flex stiffer. The chart is a set of suggestions, and it doesn't call for tipping a driver or 3 wood shaft. Want to sit between S and X in a 5 wood? Tip 0.5" and butt trim to length.
  • Adjustable hosel? You'll need an adapter. The 0.335" tip fits every current driver and fairway adapter. Pick one up from our shaft adapters, or let us install it for you on the assembled version.

Launch, spin, bend point and torque are Fujikura's ratings, shown by weight series. The NX Gold and NX Violet rows come from Fujikura's current chart. The NX Blue and NX Green are earlier generations that aren't on that chart, so their rows are carried from our earlier listings. Fujikura doesn't publish a swing speed range for Speeder NX. The whole brand lineup is in The Fujikura Shaft Guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the NX Green and the NX Blue?

Launch. The Blue is rated mid-high launch in every weight, with spin that drops as you go heavier. The Green starts at mid-high in the 40 series and steps down to mid in the 50 and 60 and low-mid in the 70, with less spin at each step. Same family, same build idea, but the Green is the one for a golfer who already launches it plenty.

Does it work in a fairway wood?

Yes. Most golfers go one series heavier in the fairway than in the driver, so a 60 S driver player usually ends up with a 70 S in the 3 wood. Follow Fujikura's tip trim chart above for 5 woods and up.

I'm between SR and S in the 60. Which way do I go?

Go by your transition, not just your speed. A quick, aggressive move from the top wants the S. A smooth tempo at the same speed is happier in the SR. If you're a stiff flex at about 95 mph with a smooth move, don't rule out the 60 SR.

Does this come with a grip or adapter?

No. This listing is the bare 46" shaft, nothing installed, nothing cut. If you want it ready to screw into your head, order the assembled NX Green instead and choose your adapter, length and grip at checkout.
