Questions & Answers
Have a Question?
-
What makes the Tour AD FI different from other shafts in this price range
Graphite Design uses aerospace-grade carbon fiber materials, Torayca M40X and T1100G that are lightweight yet extremely strong, that most shafts at any price point don't have. Combined with their AD Shield technology (which keeps the shaft from twisting during the swing) and the new Tornado Tip Tech, you're getting a level of consistency and feel that's hard to match. It's a premium shaft, but the performance truly backs it up.
-
How does the Tour AD FI compare to the Tour AD DI
They're actually pretty similar in feel, both are smooth, stable, and can handle aggressive swing styles well. The main difference is the FI has a tighter, more controlled feel in the handle and is geared more toward players who want that high-launch, fade-friendly flight. The DI has a slightly bigger, smoother kick and tends to be a little more draw-biased. If you love the DI but want something a touch more dialed-in, the FI is a natural next step.
-
Is this shaft only for tour-level or low handicap players?
Not at all. It's available in a wide range of weights (40g all the way up to 80g) and flexes from R2 through TX, so there's a version for a lot of different swing speeds and skill levels. If you need help choosing the right weight and flex, please reach out and our fitting team can help. The technology is definitely tour-level, but the shaft itself is accessible to a pretty broad range of players.
-
What kind of ball flight can I expect
You're looking at a mid-to-high launch with low-to-mid spin so the ball gets up nicely but doesn't balloon on you. It's designed to promote a straight shot or a gentle fade, which means if you're a player who already hits a draw, it can help neutralize that and give you a more predictable, repeatable flight. Great for players who want carry distance without sacrificing control.
-
I need the shaft tipped 1/2", can you do this?
Yes, just add this in the "Additional Notes" section (after you select grip options) and our build team will review and process.
-
Can I get this installed for my Ping G440 driver?
Yes, any Ping driver that has an adjustable adapter like the G440 can be installed. Just select this adapter model when adding to cart. If there's a model you have that isn't listed, feel free to contact us and we can have it added to the list.
-
What type of player is this shaft designed for?
The Tour AD FI is built for players who want distance and consistency without fighting their equipment to get it. It's positioned on the higher-launch, slight fade-bias end of Graphite Design's lineup — so if you tend to hit a hook or struggle getting the ball airborne, this one's worth a look. It also pairs really well with today's modern low-spin driver heads, which is worth keeping in mind if you're building or re-shafting. From a fitting standpoint, smooth-to-moderate tempo players tend to get the most out of it. It can handle an aggressive swing, but it doesn't need one — and when you let it do its thing, the stability and feel through impact are excellent.
