FULL DESCRIPTION
The board is back. After a few years away, the vintage surfboard always associated with Diamana™ makes its return with Diamana WB. Built on an extraordinarily popular and tour-proven platform, WB brings classic low-low performance and the legendary stability and control you’ve come to expect after two decades.
The first in the 6th Generation Diamana™ family, WB is designed with all the traditional branding that made Diamana™ so beloved, including flowers in the handle section, a surfboard behind the Diamana logo, and return to the original 53/63/73/83 weight class designations. But rest assured, the only thing throwback about Diamana™ WB is its appearance. Indeed, super high-modulus 80-ton Dialead Pitch Fiber is used in the butt section to deliver maximum stability and increased energy transfer and high modulus 46-ton fiber is used in the shaft’s angle plies to reduce torque without increasing weight for improved control and stability. Carbon fiber orientation at the tip section is optimized to further lower torque.
The classic feel of this Diamana™ profile is achieved through the use of our proprietary Xlink Tech™ Resin System and MR70 technologies. Our Xlink Tech™ Resin System increases the strength and durability of the shaft while driving carbon fiber volume up for better feel. Feel and strength is further increased through the use of our aerospace-grade MR70 fiber – our strongest fiber to date.
Key Features Include:
- 80-ton DIALEAD Pitch Fiber in butt section to maximize stability and energy transfer
- High modulus 46-ton fiber in angle plies to lower torque without increasing weight
- Xlink Tech™ Resin System to increases the strength and durability of the shaft
Who should play it? Golfers in search of a modern, pro-grade shaft to support a penetrating low launch, low spin drive.
Mitsubishi Shaft Profile Guide
The table below shows the stiffness profile across three sections — tip, mid, and handle — for each Mitsubishi shaft model. Tip stiffness most directly affects launch and spin. Handle stiffness influences feel and load during the swing.
| Model | Tip | Mid | Handle |
|---|---|---|---|
| Diamana™ WB | Medium-firm | Firm+ | Firm |
| TENSEI™ 1K Black | Firm+ | Firm | Medium |
| TENSEI™ 1K Pro Orange | Firm | Firm+ | Medium |
| TENSEI™ 1K Pro White | Medium | Firm | Medium |
| Diamana™ PD | Firm | Firm | Medium |
| Kai'li™ White | Firm | Firm | Medium-firm |
| Diamana™ GT | Medium-firm | Medium-firm | Firm+ |
| TENSEI™ 1K Pro Blue | Medium | Medium-firm | Firm+ |
| Kai'li™ Blue | Medium | Medium | Medium |
| Diamana™ TB | Medium | Firm | Medium-firm |
| C6™ Blue | Soft | Medium-firm | Medium |
| C6™ Onyx | Medium | Firm | Medium-firm |
| C6™ Red | Medium-firm | Medium | Firm |
| Kai'li™ Red | Soft | Medium | Medium |
| Vanquish™ | Soft | Soft | Medium-firm |
Profile stiffness scale from softest to firmest: Soft → Medium → Medium-firm → Firm → Firm+. Tip stiffness most directly influences launch angle and spin rate. A firmer tip produces lower launch and lower spin. A softer tip produces higher launch and more spin.
Mitsubishi Launch & Spin Chart
Where each Mitsubishi shaft sits on the launch and spin spectrum. Lower launch and spin = more control and penetrating flight. Higher launch and spin = more carry distance and height.
Diamana WB, TENSEI 1K Black, and Diamana PD sit at the lowest launch and lowest spin in the Mitsubishi lineup — suited for fast-swing players needing a penetrating ball flight. Kai'li Red and C6 Red sit at the highest launch end, designed for players who need more height and carry distance.
Questions & Answers
Have a Question?
-
With the Diamana WB, who is shaft not really good for?
This shaft is really built for high swing speed players who want low launch and low spin, so it's not a great fit for anyone who already struggles to get the ball up in the air or needs help with carry distance. Slower swing speeds and smoother tempo players will also likely find it too demanding. If someone needs more launch and spin to maximize distance, they'd be better off looking at the Diamana BB or RB instead.
-
How does the Diamana WB actually feel during the swing, does it stay smooth and controlled like a traditional Diamana?
Yes, very much so. It has that classic Diamana smoothness throughout but with more pop through the mid section than you might expect from a low launch shaft. Through the ball it feels planted and solid with great strike feedback. If anything the tip is more controlled than livelier blue profiles like the BB, so it's built to go straight and keep spin down rather than add flight. Smooth, powerful and very much a true Diamana.
-
How does the Diamana WB feel compared to something like Fujikura Ventus Black or other modern low-spin shafts?
The Diamana WB has that classic smooth Diamana feel, but with a stable, low launch/low spin profile. It’s smoother than something like Ventus Black, which tends to feel more firm. And since it’s low launch/low spin, it’s best for players with moderate to higher swing speeds, otherwise it may launch too low and reduce carry.
