I’m currently have Axiom 125s in my irons. Would like to know if Hi-Rev 125g S or 135g X would compliment the irons in my wedges. My current Mizuno Prot1 56 and 60 degree has Hi-Rev 115g shafts in them. Also what other wedge shafts do you recommend?
Hi Jonathan,
Thanks for reaching out! That's a great question, and we can certainly help you find the right shafts to complement your Axiom 125s.
The KBS Hi-Rev 2.0 is an excellent choice for a wedge shaft. Since the Axiom 125s are on the heavier side, you're on the right track considering a heavier wedge shaft to maintain a consistent feel through the set.
For your specific setup, here is my recommendation:
KBS Hi-Rev 2.0 125g S-Flex: The 125g stiff option would be the most seamless transition from your Axiom 125s. The weight is a perfect match, and the "S" flex is designed to work well with a strong, controlled swing. This shaft will give you the same stability and feel you get from your irons.
KBS Hi-Rev 2.0 135g X-Flex: While a great shaft, this might be a bit too heavy and stiff. Adding a heavier and stiffer shaft can make it feel disconnected from your iron set and may be harder to control on finesse shots around the green.
The Hi-Rev 2.0 is designed to increase launch and spin, which can be a great benefit for wedges. For a high-launch, high-spin profile, this is an excellent choice.
I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.
Best regards,
Jim

Are these stepped or similar to C-taper shafts? Currently gaming the C-Taper 130 X shafts in Callaway Apex irons...would you recommend adding the 135X 2.0 Wedge Shafts in 52,56,60 degree wedges?
Hi Corey,
Great question about the KBS Hi-Rev 2.0 Wedge Shafts!
KBS Hi-Rev 2.0 vs. C-Taper
The KBS Hi-Rev 2.0 Wedge Shafts are stepped, yes. Unlike the "stepless" design of the KBS C-Taper, the Hi-Rev 2.0 has visible steps along the shaft.
The key difference in performance is how they're designed to help with spin and launch specifically for wedges.
KBS C-Taper: Known for its low-mid launch and low-spin characteristics, providing a penetrating ball flight in your irons.
KBS Hi-Rev 2.0: Designed to deliver a higher launch with increased spin in your wedges.
It achieves this by having an active tip section that helps get the ball up quickly with more bite on the greens.
Recommendation for Your Setup
Given you're currently gaming the C-Taper 130 X shafts in your Callaway Apex irons, adding the KBS Hi-Rev 2.0 135 X wedge shafts in your 52, 56, and 60-degree wedges is a very popular and highly recommended setup.
Many players who use a low-launch/low-spin shaft like the C-Taper in their irons prefer a wedge shaft that offers a different profile for short-game control. The Hi-Rev 2.0 will give you:
Higher Ball Flight: Helps you stop the ball quicker on the greens.
More Spin: Provides that crucial "check" and control, especially on pitches and chips.
Consistent Feel: Despite the different profile, it maintains a signature smooth KBS feel that should blend well with your C-Tapers.
Weight Progression: The 135X in your wedges provides excellent weight progression from your 130X irons, ensuring a consistent feel through the set.
It's a smart choice for optimizing your short game!
Hope this helps, and let us know if you have any other questions!
