  • About Super Stroke Grips

SuperStroke invented the category of oversized putter grips and has been the number one putter grip on professional tours for over a decade. The core technology behind every SuperStroke putter grip is No Taper — a patented parallel grip design that keeps the diameter consistent from top to bottom. Unlike traditional tapered grips that create uneven pressure points between the hands, the No Taper shape allows both hands to apply equal, light pressure throughout the stroke — reducing the influence of the small muscles in the hands and wrists and promoting a more consistent, repeatable pendulum motion.

The current flagship lineup is built around the Zenergy platform, which adds SPYNE® Technology — an embossed ridge along the underside of the grip engineered to help players square the face at address — and Multi-Zone Texturing for improved comfort and feel. Tech-Port, located at the top of most Zenergy grips, allows players to add the CounterCore weight system for back-weighting or compatible performance tracking sensors.

SuperStroke's swing and club grip lineup — led by the REVL series — brings the same commitment to grip pressure reduction and feel into iron and full-swing applications, with options ranging from the soft, tacky REVL Comfort to the firmer, tour-profile Traxion Tour.

SuperStroke Putter Grip Size Guide

SuperStroke's size numbering refers to grip diameter — not the same as standard grip sizing. Larger numbers = wider grip. The most played size on professional tours is the 2.0.

Size Diameter Closest Standard Equivalent Best Player Profile Most Popular In
Slim 3.0 / Mid Slim 2.0 Smallest SuperStroke Close to standard/midsize Players new to SuperStroke or those who want minimal diameter change from a traditional grip Slim 3.0, Mid Slim 2.0
1.0 1.0" — parallel, no taper Oversize/jumbo feel Players who want noticeable hand quieting without the most extreme size; a common starting point for first-time SuperStroke users Tour 1.0, Pistol 1.0, Flatso 1.0
2.0 Wider than 1.0 — parallel Jumbo The most widely played SuperStroke size on professional tours — maximum hand quieting with a manageable feel; best for players with active hands or a wristy stroke Tour 2.0, Pistol 2.0, Flatso 2.0
3.0 Widest standard SuperStroke Extra jumbo Players with larger hands, players who have used the 2.0 and want more grip mass, or players with severe wrist issues who need maximum stability Tour 3.0, Flatso 3.0
5.0 Largest standard profile XXL Players who want the most oversized putter grip available — maximum bulk for stroke stabilization; less common but preferred by some players with arthritis or severe hand movement Tour 5.0

CounterCore weights (sold separately) can be added to any Tech-Port equipped SuperStroke grip to back-weight the putter and further reduce hand and wrist activity. For a full size recommendation, visit our SuperStroke Selection Guide.

  • Who Should Play SuperStroke Grips?

Players who are inconsistent on the greens due to hand and wrist overactivity. SuperStroke's No Taper technology directly addresses wrist rotation during the putting stroke. If you've been told your hands are too active in your putting motion, a SuperStroke grip is one of the few equipment changes that directly targets that specific issue.

Players dealing with arthritis or grip pressure discomfort. The oversized parallel profile naturally reduces the amount of grip force required to hold the putter — particularly beneficial for players with arthritis, tendinitis, or any condition that makes sustained grip pressure painful.

Players who want to match their putter grip setup across the whole bag. SuperStroke's REVL and CrossComfort swing grips are designed to complement the Zenergy putter lineup — giving players who love their SuperStroke putter grip a consistent feel option for irons and woods as well.

Players upgrading from stock OEM putter grips. Most putters ship with a thin, tapered rubber grip that does nothing to stabilize the stroke. Any of SuperStroke's Tour, Pistol, or Flatso series is a meaningful upgrade from a stock grip for virtually any player.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between SuperStroke 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0?

The size numbers refer to grip diameter — larger numbers mean a wider grip. The 1.0 is the smallest standard SuperStroke putter grip and produces a noticeable but moderate hand-quieting effect. The 2.0 is the most widely played size on professional tours and delivers maximum hand and wrist reduction for most players. The 3.0 is the widest standard option, suited for players with larger hands or those who have used the 2.0 and want more grip mass. If you're new to SuperStroke, the 2.0 is the safest starting point for most golfers.

What is the difference between SuperStroke Zenergy Tour and Zenergy Pistol?

Both are built on the same Zenergy platform with No Taper technology — the difference is shape at the top of the grip. The Zenergy Tour has a straight, uniform profile from top to bottom. The Zenergy Pistol has a classic pistol-style contour at the upper section that helps the top hand lock into a consistent, repeatable position at address. If you prefer the feel of a traditional pistol grip but want the benefits of SuperStroke's No Taper design, the Pistol is the right choice. If you want a fully parallel profile with no contouring, choose the Tour.

What putter grip does Jordan Spieth use?

Jordan Spieth has won all three of his major championships using the SuperStroke Flatso putter grip. The Flatso features a distinctive pentagonal profile — a wide, flat front face with five pronounced edges — that maximizes face awareness and promotes a square-face position at address. It is available in three sizes: Flatso 1.0, Flatso 2.0, and Flatso 3.0. You can shop the full Flatso lineup at Grips4Less.

What is CounterCore and do I need it?

CounterCore is SuperStroke's optional back-weighting system — a weighted insert that screws into the Tech-Port at the top of compatible SuperStroke putter grips. Adding weight to the grip end of the putter shifts the balance point toward the hands, which some players find reduces clubhead awareness and promotes a smoother, more pendulum-like stroke. It is sold separately and is not required. If you're using a heavy putter head or have a tendency to feel the head too much during your stroke, CounterCore is worth trying. Most players start without it and add it if they feel the need.

Does SuperStroke make swing grips for irons and woods?

Yes — SuperStroke makes a full range of swing and club grips including the REVL Comfort, REVL Player, CrossComfort, S-Tech, Crossline 2.0, and Traxion Tour. These are available in standard golf grip sizes for irons, hybrids, and woods. The REVL series is the newest and most popular, with a Comfort version for players who want maximum softness and tackiness, and a Player version for those who prefer firmer feedback. Browse the full selection at the SuperStroke iron grips collection.

Is SuperStroke REVL legal for tournament play?

Yes — all SuperStroke putter grips and swing grips sold at Grips4Less are USGA-conforming and legal for tournament play under the Rules of Golf. The one exception to be aware of is anchored putting — if you use an extended-length grip like the WristLock in a way that anchors the grip to your body, that method of stroke is not permitted under current USGA rules. The grip itself is legal; the anchoring method is not.

What is SuperStroke REVL and how is it different from the older Traxion line?

REVL is SuperStroke's current generation swing grip line, designed with updated materials and textures compared to the older Traxion series. REVL comes in two profiles — Comfort (softer, tackier outer layer for all-weather feel) and Player (firmer construction for more feedback-oriented golfers). The Traxion Tour remains available for players who prefer its firmer, more traditional tour grip feel. REVL is the recommended starting point for most players upgrading their iron and club grips to a modern SuperStroke option.
