WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Fujikura Air Speeder is an ultra-lightweight driver shaft built specifically for golfers with swing speeds under 85 mph who want more distance through increased swing speed -- not more effort. Weighing as little as 46 grams, it's one of the lightest performance shafts Fujikura makes, engineered to help seniors, women, and moderate-tempo players generate higher launch, more carry, and faster clubhead speed without overswinging. Arrives fully assembled with your adapter and grip installed. Plug it in and play.

Who It's For

Good fit if you...

  • Swing between 55-85 mph and want more carry distance
  • Are a senior golfer whose swing speed has declined over time
  • Are a women golfer looking for a high-performance lightweight shaft
  • Currently game a heavy shaft and feel like you're working too hard to get the ball airborne
  • Want a high-launch, high-carry ball flight
  • Are upgrading from a stock OEM shaft that came with your driver

Not the right fit if you...

  • Swing 85 mph or faster -- a shaft this light will feel uncontrolled and cost you accuracy
  • Already launch too high and balloon the ball -- you need a heavier, more stable shaft
  • Have an aggressive, fast tempo -- the soft tip will kick unpredictably under load

How It Plays

The Air Speeder is built around one core idea: a lighter shaft lets you swing faster, and faster swing speed means more distance. At 46-50 grams depending on flex, it's light enough that most players will immediately notice a freer, easier swing -- especially on the downswing where heavier shafts can feel like they're dragging.

The soft tip and soft handle sections work together to promote a high launch angle and high peak trajectory -- exactly what slower swing speeds need to maximize carry. The mid section provides just enough structure to keep the shaft from feeling completely boardy or whippy. It's a balanced profile that loads easily and releases smoothly without requiring you to time it perfectly.

Fujikura uses maximum carbon fiber content throughout the construction -- which gives the shaft more stiffness and strength at a given weight than conventional materials. That's what separates the Air Speeder from cheap lightweight shafts: you're getting a genuinely engineered performance shaft, not just a thin tube. The Phantium finish saves an additional 6 grams in paint and clearcoat, which goes directly into the playable weight budget.

How to Choose Your Flex

Flex Swing Speed Weight Best For
R3 Under 60 mph 46g Very slow tempos, beginners, limited mobility players
R2 60-70 mph 48.5g Senior women, older players, smooth tempo swingers
R 70-80 mph 49.5g Average senior men, recreational women golfers
S 80-90 mph 50.5g Active senior men, athletic women who want lightweight feel

Not sure which flex? If you don't know your swing speed, choose based on how far you currently hit your driver: under 150 yards = R3 or R2, 150-175 yards = R, 175-200 yards = S. When in doubt, text us at (818) 473-9086.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will a lighter shaft actually give me more distance?

For most golfers under 85 mph, yes. Distance is primarily determined by ball speed, which comes from clubhead speed and center-face contact. A shaft that's too heavy makes it harder to swing fast enough to generate good ball speed. Dropping 20-30 grams of shaft weight can add 3-5 mph of swing speed for many players -- which translates directly to more carry distance. The Air Speeder is designed to maximize that effect without sacrificing enough stability to hurt your accuracy.

What's the difference between R3, R2, R, and S flex in the Air Speeder?

R3 is the softest and lightest at 46g -- designed for swing speeds under 60 mph or players with very limited mobility. R2 at 48.5g suits 60-70 mph. Regular flex at 49.5g is the most common choice for senior men and recreational women around 70-80 mph. Stiff at 50.5g is for players swinging 80-90 mph who want lightweight feel without the shaft feeling too whippy. All four launch high and spin high -- the flex mainly affects how stable the shaft feels through impact.

How does the Air Speeder compare to the Autoflex or other ultra-light shafts?

The Autoflex is even lighter and more flexible, designed for extremely slow swing speeds under 65 mph who want maximum energy return from the shaft's kick. The Air Speeder is more structured -- it has a defined bend profile with a soft tip and soft handle, which gives it a more predictable and consistent feel across a wider range of swing speeds. If you're between 70-85 mph, the Air Speeder is usually the better fit. Under 65 mph, Autoflex may generate more speed. Not sure? Text our team and we'll help you decide.

Can this shaft be built for a fairway wood?

Yes -- select the fairway wood option and your adapter when adding to cart. The high-launch profile works well in fairway woods for players who struggle to get the ball up with standard weight shafts. It's a particularly good fit for 3-woods and 5-woods in the hands of slower swingers.

What's included with this assembled shaft?

The shaft arrives with your OEM adapter tip installed (TaylorMade, Callaway, Ping, Cobra, Titleist, Mizuno, PXG, or Wilson) and your chosen grip installed. Club head is not included. Just attach to your driver or fairway wood head and play. See full assembled shaft details.

Not sure which shaft is right for your game?

Text our shaft experts at (818) 473-9086 before you order. We've been fitting golfers since 1991 and are happy to talk through your swing speed, current shaft, and what you're trying to fix.

Questions & Answers

Have a Question?

Ask a Question
  • How does this compare to the Ventus White

Both the Air Speeder and Ventus White are ultra light weight shaft, but other than that are actually pretty different profiles. Speeder family is god if you have a slow smooth swing and want to generate more clubhead speed, higher launch and want to keep the ball up longer. Really makes the swing feel effortless. The Ventus is more a performance shaft built around stability and torsional control. Gives you a firm planting even with fast aggressive swings, though it does great with even tempo as well. Its not as high launching as the Speeder, but its the highest within the Ventus family line up.

  • What's special about this driver?

The Air Speeder is an ultra-lightweight construction that helps you generate more clubhead speed without forcing it. It launches high, feels smooth from start to finish, and comes in flexes all the way down to R3 which is pretty rare. If you have a smooth tempo or moderate swing speed and want more speed without more effort, then its a good one to try. Some players struggle with an ultralight weight shaft, so this is something you'll want to consult with a fitter first before commiting.
