FULL DESCRIPTION
Brand new for 2022, Graphite Design introduces the latest in the Tour AD premium line of golf shafts, the Graphite Design Tour AD UB – Up and Beyond. Designed and manufactured at the Graphite Design Japan factory headquarters, the new Tour AD UB graphite shafts are metallic blue with a silver spray faded tip and black accents and finished with a gloss clear coat. The Tour AD UB, like the other high performance Tour AD graphite shafts, utilizes premium, aerospace quality carbon-fiber materials and are available in 40g R2, R1 and S flex, 50g R2, R1, S and X flex, 60g SR, S, X and TX flex, 70g S, X and TX flex and 80g S and X flex.
The Tour AD UB shaft profile is medium+ in the butt section, medium+ in the center section and has a stiff+ tip to promote a mid-launch angle and low/mid ball spin rates. The Tour AD UB shafts utilizes the modern TORAYCA® M40X carbon-fiber material in the mid to tip section of the shaft and the ultra-high modulus TORAYCA® T1100G carbon-fiber material in the tip section of the shaft for unrivaled shaft stability and precise ball control without the loss of the exceptional feel that Graphite Design shafts are so well known for. Tour AD UB graphite shafts with TORAYCA® M40X and T1100G material technologies can result in your golf game moving Up and Beyond all of your expectations.
HOW IT COMPARES
The Tour AD UB sits at mid launch and low-mid spin — a versatile, neutral profile that suits a broad range of swing speeds and tempos and delivers the smooth, consistent feel Graphite Design is known for without the extreme stiffness of the VF or the active tip character of the CQ. Players who need more height and carry should look at the Tour AD DI or CQ, while those needing lower launch and more spin suppression should move toward the Tour AD FI or VF instead.

What type of player is the Tour AD UB for?
The Tour AD UB ("Up and Beyond") is a premium tour-grade shaft built for stronger, more accomplished players who want a mid launch with low-to-mid spin and a flatter, more penetrating peak trajectory — optimized for carry plus good rollout. It has a stiff+ tip with a medium+ butt and mid section, designed to resist twisting at impact and hold up under aggressive swings without ballooning. It fits best for players with moderate-to-fast swing speeds, solid tempo, and consistent center-face contact — someone who wants a workable, controlled flight rather than max carry height. If you already hit it low or need help getting the ball up, it's probably not the right fit; but if you're looking for a strong, flat, controlled trajectory with Graphite Design's signature smooth feel, the UB is a great match.

How does the Tour AD UB actually feel through the swing?
The Tour AD UB definitely leans more toward that classic Graphite Design feel. It has a smooth, responsive load with a noticeable kick; especially compared to something like Ventus, which is more one-piece and rigid. The UB has a softer handle/mid section with a firmer tip, so you still get that smooth load but with stability through impact.
As for performance, even though it’s labeled mid-launch/low spin, it’s actually pretty playable across a wide range of swing speeds. It produces an easy mid-height flight with good carry, not something that feels overly flat or demanding.
